The main subject to become a hub port is automation. The automated container terminal has already operated in advanced ports and it has been planned for the basic planning and operation design in domestic case. The key of automated container terminal is effective operation of both ATC(automated transfer crane) and AGV(automated guided vehicle) which is automated handling equipments. This is essential to poductivity of automated container terminal. This study suggests the most optimal method of equipment operation in order to minimize loading time using each three types of effective ATC operation methods and AGV dispatching rules in automated container terminals. As the automated equipment operation causes unexpected deadlocks or interferences, it should be proceeded on event-based real time. Therefore we propose the most effective ATC operation methods and AGV dispatching rules in this paper. The various states occurred in real automated container terminals are simulated to evaluate these methods. This experiment will show the most robust automated equipment operation method on various parameters(the degree of yard re-marshaling, the number of containers and the number of AGVs)

This paper deals with the case study that determine the best equipment scale to be satisfied a handing capacity of the container terminal using computer simulation techniques. The objective of this study is to suggest an operation alternative of equipment scale including container canes, transfer cranes, and yard tractors which reflects a container throughput. For the simulation, the object-oriented simulator with the special purpose of container terminal analysis is used. And the used simulator was developed to simulate the transfer crane based container terminal for yard equipment. Using the simulator, we test an existing port container terminal, PECT(Pusan East Container Terminal).
Container terminals at Gwangyang Port are operated by three container operators: A, B and C. Ultimately, there is consensus that a single operator should operate all terminals so that economies of scale can be achieved even in the operation of the container terminal. Integration between operators has a positive effect on both operators and shipping companies. From the operator's point of view, overlapping fixed costs between operators can be unified, reducing overall costs and utilizing spare facilities. On the other hand, from the viewpoint of the shipping company, it is possible to ensure stable use of the port facilities and always allow berthing, reduce days on demurrage and ship waiting, and provide one-stop service for work. However, existing cases of operators' integration or relocation of terminals remained to estimate the expected effects of alternatives, emphasizing only the financial point of view. The port terminal is a large system, and it is important to consider that it is an aggregate of major logistics facilities and equipment. Moreover, if the estimation can be made by quantifying the expected effect, the justification of the terminals' relocation can be further emphasized. Therefore, it is very important to estimate the expected effect from the viewpoint of systemic operation. Moreover, the need for operators' integration can be further emphasized if it can be estimated through quantification of expected effects. Currently, three alternatives are considered as alternatives to the terminals' relocation, and in this study, the optimal plan was derived for the 3 alternatives by the linear planning model of the minimum shuttle transportation cost in the terminal. The optimal plan is alternative 2, which shows the most advantageous integration effect in terms of expected effects. Alternative 2 integrates the B terminal into the C terminal, and the A terminal operates independently as it is.
The aim of this study is to analyze the container terminal operation by considering the key factors that fluctuates the container traffic volume using the System Dynamics (SD) method. The target area of this study is the 'A' container terminal which is located in the Port of Incheon and the simulation period is from 2004 to 2020. As evaluation indexes for container terminal operation, three factors such as 'total sales', 'operating ratio of C/Y' and 'operating ratio of G/C' are selected, and as for the key factors of fluctuating container traffic volume, 'variation ratio of world trade', 'variation ratio of trade among three countries in North-East Asia' and 'variation ratio of won-dollar rate are used. As of 2020, the result of this study is that import-export container traffic volume increases almost 880,000TEU and total sales and operating ratio of G/C each reach 7.1 bilion won and 65 percent. No changes however in loadage and operating ratio of C/Y in 'A' container terminal are indicated. The reason is that capability of C/Y is exceeded. Therefore this study suggest that decision-makers of 'A' container terminal realize the importance of additional space of C/Y.

A boolean algebra method for computing the reliability in a communication network is prosented. Given the set of all simple paths between two nodes in a network, the terminal reliability can be symbolically computed by the Boolean operation which is named parallel operation. The method seems to be promising for both oriented and nonoriented network.

As international trade has been increased, the competition of major ports is getting hard. The objective of this competition is that to get more cargoes, so port managements and operators are struggling to obtain cargoes. In addition the competition structure has classified several forms bemuse of specialization, integration and subdivision of port players. In this paper, therefore, we analyze the change of competition structure by port players' development characteristics. In the result of this study, competition structure is divided into five groups as among nations, among ports, among container terminal operation companies, among global container terminal operation companies and among container terminal operation companies operated by shipping companies. And they have showed not only competition but also co-operation partly in order to get strategic position.
The container terminal operators established a re-marshalling plan to reduce the loading operation time and the release operation time. Re-marshalling is to rearrange the containers in the container yard to the advantageous position to shorten the working time using the spare time of the automated yard crane. This study assumed the automated container terminal with a perpendicular layout and deals with the inter-bay re-marshalling planning problem in a yard block. The inter-bay re-marshalling plan determines the container to be moved, the location to be relocated, and the sequence of relocation operations. This study presents a mixed integer programming model that simultaneously determines the storage location and the operation sequence while satisfying the spatial availability during the re-marshalling. Numerical experiments are conducted to understand re-marshalling operation using a beam search method.
In Pusan Harbour, new port development projects are implemented such as the Extended Terminal adjacent to the Gamman Terminal, Pusan New Port, the Navy $\bigcirc$$\bigcirc$ piers, etc. which will require new marine traffic environments in the Passage I of Pusan Harbour. Specially, the turning basin of the Extended Terminal adjacent to the Gamman Terminal has been designed to overlay the Passage I of Pusan Harbour, which will interrupt the inbound traffic flow and the results will be worried to decrease the efficiency of port operation. Therefore, this paper will be aimed to evaluate the traffic congestion in the Pusan Passage I due to the opening of new ports within Pusan Harbour in 2006 and 2011 by using computer simulation based the queueing theory.
This is the first report about the development of INMARSAT-C Satellite communication terminal. We analyze the existing Inmarsat-C terminal and examine each rules(IMO rule, domestic rules) about terminal. With that result, we design the basic hardware and software of terminal. This report consists of ; 1) the contents of the overall of operating situation and resources of INMARSAT-C system as like operation of communication system, communication channels and services 2) the contents of the specification of Inmarsat-C terminal hardware and software and the rules of IMO and Type approval 3) the design of basic hardware and reserch of signal modulation/demodulation using Viterbi algorithm 4) the design of software algorithms and functions focused in korean situations.
