  • Nowadays, social media has evolved into a powerful networked ecosystem in which governments and citizens publicly debate economic and political issues. This holds true for the pros and cons of Indonesia's ore nickel export restriction to Europe, which we aim to investigate further in this paper. Using Twitter as a dependable channel for conducting sentiment analysis, we have gathered 7070 tweets data for further processing using two sentiment analysis approaches, namely Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Long Short Term Memory (LSTM). Model construction stage has shown that Bidirectional LSTM performed better than LSTM and SVM kernels, with accuracy of 91%. The LSTM comes second and The SVM Radial Basis Function comes third in terms of best model, with 88% and 83% accuracies, respectively. In terms of sentiments, most Indonesians believe that the nickel ore provision will have a positive impact on the mining industry in Indonesia. However, a small number of Indonesian citizens contradict this policy due to fears of a trade dispute that could potentially harm Indonesia's bilateral relations with the EU. Hence, this study contributes to the advancement of measuring public opinions through big data tools by identifying Bidirectional LSTM as the optimal model for the dataset.

  • Groundwater monitoring data from the National Groundwater Monitoring Stations, a total of 320 stations, were analyzed to identify the response of water level and quality to the Odaesan earthquake (M4.9) occurred in January 2007. Among the total of eight stations responded to the earthquake, five wells showed water-level decline, and in three wells, water level rose. In terms of recovery, water levels in four stations had recovered to the original level in five days, but not in the rest four wells. The magnitude of water-level change shows weak relations to the distance between the earthquake epicenter and the groundwater monitoring station. However, the relations to the transmissivities of monitored aquifer in the station with the groundwater change were not significant. To implement the earthquake monitoring system through the groundwater monitoring network, we still need to accumulate the long-term monitoring data and geostatistically analyze those with hydrogeological and tectonic factors.

  • In the present paper we discuss the stability and the post-buckling behaviour of thin piezoelastic plates. The first part of the paper is concerned with the modelling of such plates. We discuss the constitutive modelling, starting with the three-dimensional constitutive relations within Voigt's linearized theory of piezoelasticity. Assuming a plane state of stress and a linear distribution of the strains with respect to the thickness of the thin plate, two-dimensional constitutive relations are obtained. The specific form of the linear thickness distribution of the strain is first derived within a fully geometrically nonlinear formulation, for which a Finite Element implementation is introduced. Then, a simplified theory based on the von Karman and Tsien kinematic assumption and the Berger approximation is introduced for simply supported plates with polygonal planform. The governing equations of this theory are solved using a Galerkin procedure and cast into a non-dimensional formulation. In the second part of the paper we discuss the stability and the post-buckling behaviour for single term and multi term solutions of the non-dimensional equations. Finally, numerical results are presented using the Finite Element implementation for the fully geometrically nonlinear theory. The results from the simplified von Karman and Tsien theory are then verified by a comparison with the numerical solutions.

  • It is very important to assess accurately the terms which are included in the heat budget equation of soil surface because they are used in the UM and miso-scale circulation modeling as well as in the micrometeorological studies. Each terms in the heat budget equation change according to the soil moisture content. So, it is necessary to specify clearly the relations between soil moisture content and these terms. Special experiment with micrometeorological measurements was executed to study these relations at Environmental Research Center of Tsukuba University, Japan. The results are as follow: 1. The soil moisture contents of 1 cm and 4 cm depth are oscillated with one day Period in drying process and the amplitude of variation of 1 cm depth is greater than that of 4 cm. 2. Increase in soil moisture contents due to precipitation result in decrease of albedo with step function. 3. Sensible heat is in reverse proportion to the soil moisture content and latent heat is in direct proportion to it. Latent heat is more sensitive than sensible heat according to the soil moisture variation. Net long wave radiation have high correlation with soil moisture. 4. Comparing with the radiative term with the flux term in wetting process due to precipitation, the energy transfer of the aero and thermodynamic flux is greater than that of the radiative heat flux.

  • Ayurveda is one of the most historic and comprehensive medical system in the world. It was passed down as Buddhist medicine with Buddhism to influence enormously to East Asian medicine. Therefore, researches on Ayurveda is important in studying East Asian medicine as well as in studying Indian traditional medicine and althernative medicine. However, in previous studies, the term, 'Ayurveda', was mistaken and misused frequently. Clarifying the relations between the definition of Ayurveda and Indian traditional medicine is essential in preventing future controversy. Therefore, such relations were studied to draw following conclusions. 1. 'Ayurveda' is the term determining the oldest medicine system in the world that originated in India. Reportedly, the first book about Ayurveda is "Agnivesha samhita", and the oldest existing book is "Charaka Samhita". No records were found on medine books named Ayurveda, and interpreting Ayurveda to be a name of a book is explicitly misunderstanding. 2. There are various divisions of Indian traditional medicine in previous studies. However, divisions in 6 types of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Yoga, Naturopathy and Homoeopathy is the most proper. 3. Ayurveda gained some similarities as it exchanged with other medicine systems. However, since each medicine system has unique characteristics, they must be separately studied. Especially, current Indian traditional medicine system has many divisions. Terms of 'Indian traditional medicine' and 'Ayurveda' must be separately used.

  • After scrutinizing the actual conditions of labor participation in management decision makings through analysing the collective agreements and the regulations of labor-management committee at the affiliated companies of Korea's top-five Chaebols, we could get some conclusions as follows. First, because the labor participation in management decision makings is in very inactive situations at the long-term management strategy level and the workplace practice level of industrial relations, both parties of the industrial relations in those companies surveyed show the serious lack of abilities to tackle the new and rapidly changing business environments as nowadays actively and cooperatively. Second, we could find the fact that in the surveyed companies the device of collective bargaining was used more commonly at the collective bargaining level of industrial relations and the device of labor-management committee was often used relatively at the long-term management strategy level and the workplace practice level. Third, we could conclude that the separating type of the labor-management committee which was able to keep a safe distance from the more antagonistic device, the collective bargaining, was much more efficient device of the labor participation in management decision makings.

  • This study examines the relation between mutual fund performance and fund flows in Korean market using weekly and monthly data. The results are as follows. First, the relation between the two variables varies across fund types. Even the relations in equity fund and index fund are different from each other. Second, the structural change in the mutual fund market affect significantly the relation between the two variables. Third, return chasing flow is observed constantly in bond fund and it is observed only after the structural change for equity fund and MMF. However, no return chasing flow is observed for index fund. Fourth, mutual fund flows affect subsequent fund returns only in MMF after the structural change.

  • This paper presents the combination resonances of FG porous (FGP) cylindrical shell under two-term excitation. The effect of structural damping on the system response is also considered. With regard to classical plate theory of shells, von-$K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ equation and Hook law, the relations of stress-strain is derived for shell. According to the Galerkin method, the discretized motion equation is obtained. The combination resonances are obtained by using the method of multiple scales. Four types of FGP distributions consist of uniform porosity, non-symmetric porosity soft, non-symmetric porosity stiff and symmetric porosity distribution are considered. The influence of various porosity distributions, porosity coefficients of cylindrical shell and amplitude excitations on the combination resonances for FGP cylindrical shells is investigated.
