In this paper the bending collapse characteristics of 6XXX series aluminum rectangular tubes were studied with a pure bending collapse test rig which could apply the pure bending moment without imposing additional shear and tensile forces. Under the pure bending moment, there occured three kinds of bending collapse modes-local buckling delayed buckling and tensile failure-depending on the a, b, t (depth width thickness) and material properties. Experimental results are compared with the results of finite element method and other methods.

In order to examine the effects of yield stress, tensile strength and thickness on the buckling behavior during bending of pipes, the nonlinear finite element analysis of the 3-point bending tests was carried out using the commercial software (ABAQUS) under the condition of L4(2$^{3}$) performed according to the designed condition. Form the analysis of simulation results, it was found that yield stress and thickness were the major factors on buckling load at pipe bending and tensile strength gave little influence because the plastic strain and plastic zone are small. For the punch displacement to the occurrence of buckling, thickness is a major factor and yield stress and tensile strength are the minor factors.

High Tensile Steel enables to reduce the plate thickness comparing to the case when Mild Steel is used. From the economical view point this is very preferable since the reduction in the hull weight. However to use the High Tensile Steel effectively the plate thickness may become thin so that the occurrence of buckling is inevitable and design allowing plate buckling may be necessary. If the inplane stiffness of the plating decreases due to buckling, buckling may be necessary. If the inplane stiffness of the plating decreases due to buckling the flexural rigidity of the cross section of a ship's hull also decreases. this may lead to excessive deflection of the hull girder under longitudinal bending. In these cases a precise estimation of plate's behavior after buckling is necessary and nonlinear analysis of isolated and stiffened plates is required for structural system analysis. In this connection this paper discusses nonlinear behaviour of thin plate under thrust. Based on the analytical method elastic large deflection analysis of isolated plate is perform and simple expression are derived to evaluate the inplane rigidity of plates subjected to uniaxial compression.
This study investigates the use of a vibration correlation technique (VCT) to identify the buckling load of a rectangular thin plate. It is proposed that the buckling load can be determined experimentally using the natural frequencies of plates under tensile loading. A set of rectangular plates was tested for natural frequencies using an impact test method. Aluminum and stainless steel specimens with CCCC, CCCF and CFCF boundary conditions were included in the experiment. The measured buckling load was determined from the plot of the square of a measured natural frequency versus an in-plane load. The buckling loads from the measured vibration data match the numerical solutions very well. For specimens with well-defined boundary conditions, the average percentage difference between buckling loads from VCT and numerical solutions is -0.18% with a standard deviation of 5.05%. The proposed technique using vibration data in the tensile loading region has proven to be an accurate and reliable method which might be used to identify the buckling load of plates. Unlike other static methods, this correlation approach does not require drawing lines in the pre-buckling and post-buckling regions; thus, bias in data interpretation is avoided.

In this study, a nonlinear truss finite element is developed to analyze structures with negative Poisson effect-induced tensile buckling. In general, the well-known buckling phenomenon is a stability problem under a compressive load, whereas tensile buckling occurs because of local compression caused by tension. It is not as well-known as classical buckling because it is a recent study. The mechanism of tensile buckling can be briefly explained from an energy standpoint. The nonlinear truss finite element with a torsional spring is formulated because the finite element has not been reported in the literature yet. The post-buckling analysis is then performed using the generalized displacement control method, which reveals that the torsional spring plays an important role in tensile buckling. Structures that mimic a negative Poisson effect can be constructed using such post-buckling behaviors, and one of the possible applications is a mechanical switch. The results obtained are compared to those of analytical solutions and commercial finite element analysis to assess the validity of the proposed finite element model. The numerical results show that the developed finite element model could be a viable option for the basic design of nonlinear structures with a negative Poisson effect.

Recently, buckling is easy to happen as that High tensile steel that is the thin plate absence is used comprehensively for the structure. Specially, buckling is getting into important design standard in hull construction which use High tensile steel. Therefore, that grasp conduct exactly after buckling is important in stability of hull structure. In this study, examined closely about conduct and secondary buckling after initial buckling of thin plate structure which receive compressive load according to various kinds yield strength under simply supported condition that make by buckling strength formula standard in each payment in advance rule to place that is representative construction of hull in this research. Analysis method is F.E.M by ANSYS and complicated nonlinear behaviour to analyze such as secondary buckling in used arc-length method.

Cracks and defects may occur anywhere in a plate under tension. Cracks can affect the buckling stability performance and even the failure mode of the plate. A search of the literature reveals that the reported research has mostly focused on the study of plates with central and small cracks. Considering the effectiveness of cracks on the buckling behavior of plates, this study intends to investigate the effects of some key parameters, i.e., crack size and location as well as the plate aspect ratio and support conditions, on the buckling behavior, stress intensity factor (SIF), and the failure mode (buckling or fracture) in cracked plates under tension. To this end, a sophisticated mathematical code was developed using MATLAB in the frame-work of extended finite element method (XFEM) in order to analyze the buckling stability and collapse of numerous plate models. The results and findings of this research endeavor show that, in addition to the plate aspect ratio and support conditions, careful consideration of the crack location and size can be quite effective in buckling behavior assessment and failure mode prediction as well as SIF evaluation of the cracked plates subjected to tensile loading.

In this research, experimental tensile test and manufacturing of carbon nanotube reinforced composite beam (CNTRC) is presented. Also, bending, buckling, and vibration analysis of CNTRC based on various beam theories such as Euler-Bernoulli, Timoshenko and Reddy beams are considered. At first, the experimental tensile tests are carried out for CNTRC and composite beams in order to obtain mechanical properties and then using Hamilton's principle the governing equations of motion are derived for Euler Bernoulli, Timoshenko and Reddy theories. The results have a good agreement with the obtained results by similar researches and it is shown that adding just two percent of carbon nanotubes increases dimensionless fundamental frequency and critical buckling load as well as decreases transverse deflection of composite beams. Also, the influences of different manufacturing processes such as hand layup and industrial methods using vacuum pump on composite properties are investigated. In these composite beams, glass fibers used in an epoxy matrix and for producing CNTRC, CNTs are applied as reinforcement particles. Applying two percent of CNTs leads to increase the mechanical properties and increases natural frequencies and critical buckling load and decreases deflection. The obtained natural frequencies and critical buckling load by theoretical method are higher than other methods, because there are some inevitable errors in industrial and hand layup method. Also, the minimum deflection occurs for theoretical methods, in bending analysis. In this study, Young's and shear modulli as well as density are obtained by experimental test and have not been used from the results of other researches. Then the theoretical analysis such as bending, buckling and vibration are considered by using the obtained mechanical properties of this research.

Concentrically Braced Frames (CBFs) are commonly used in the construction of steel structures because of their ease of implementation, rigidity, low lateral displacement, and cost-effectiveness. However, the principal disadvantage of this kind of braced frame is the inability to provide deformation capacity (ductility) and buckling of bracing elements before yielding. This paper aims to present a novel Composite Buckling Restrained Fuse (CBRF) to be utilized as a bracing segment in concentrically braced frames that allows higher ductility and removes premature buckling. The proposed CBRF with relatively small dimensions is an enhancement on the Reduced Length Buckling Restrained Braces (RL-BRBs), consists of steel core and additional tensile elements embedded in a concrete encasement. Employing tensile elements in this composite fuse with a new configuration enhances the energy dissipation efficiency and removes the tensile strength limitations that exist in bracing elements that contain RL-BRBs. Here, the optimal length of the CBRF is computed by considering the anticipated strain demand and the low-cyclic fatigue life of the core under standard loading protocol. An experimental program is conducted to explore the seismic behavior of the suggested CBRF compare with an RL-BRB specimen under gradually increased cyclic loading. Moreover, Hysteretic responses of the specimens are evaluated to calculate the design parameters such as energy dissipation potential, strength adjustment factors, and equivalent viscous damping. The findings show that the suggested fuse possess a ductile behavior with high energy absorption and sufficient resistance and a reasonably stable hysteresis response under compression and tension.
The High-tensile steel has been recognized as a promising concept for structural design of light weight transportation systems such as aircraft high speed trains and fast ships. Using the high-tensile steel has been widely used in ship structures, and this enables to reduce the plate thickness. Using the high-tensile steel effectively for a ship hull, the plate thickness becomes thin so that plate buckling may take place. Therefore, precise assessment of the behavior of plate above primary buckling load is important. In this study, examined closely secondary buckling behavior after initial buckling of thin plate structure which operated compressive load according to the various kinds of yield stress with simply supported boundary condition. Analysis method is F.E.M by commercial program(ANSYS V7.1) and complicated nonlinear behaviour can analyze using art-length method about secondary buckling.
