The fracture toughness test is believed as a clinically relevant method for assessing the fracture resistance of the dentinal restoratives. The objectives of this study were to measure the fracture toughness $(K_{1C})$ and microtensile bond strength of dentin-resin composite interface and compare their relationship for their use in evaluation of the integrity of the dentin-resin bond. A minimum of six short-rod specimens for fracture toughness test and fifteen specimens for microtensile bond strength test was fabricated for each group of materials used. After all specimens storing for 24 hours in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$, they were tensile-loaded with an EZ tester universal testing machin. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA and Tukey's test at the 95% confidence level, Pearson's coefficient was used to verify the correlation between the mean of fracture toughness and microtensile bond strength. FE-SEM was employed on fractured surface to describe the crack propagation. Fracture toughness value of Clearfil SE Bond (SE) was the highest, followed by Adper Single Bond 2 (SB), OptiBond Solo (OB), ONE-STEP PLUS (0S), ScotchBond Multi-purpose (SM) and there was significant difference between SE and other 4 groups (p < 0.05). There were, however, no significant difference among SB, OB, OS, SM (p > 0.05). Microtensile bond strength of SE was the highest, followed by SB, OB, SM, OS and OS only showed significant lower value (p < 0.05). There was no correlation between fracture toughness and microtensile bond strength values. FE-SEM examination revealed that dentin bonding agent showed different film thickness and different failure pattern according to the film thickness. From the limited results of this study, it was noted that there was statistically no correlation between K1C and ${\mu}TBS$. We can conclude that for obtaining the reliability of bond strength test of dentin bonding agent, we must pay more attention to the test procedure and its profound scrutiny.

This paper presents the test results of 24 beam-end specimens to investigate the effect of concrete strength and cover thickness on the development resistance capacity in tensile lap splice length regions. The results showed that as higher strength concrete was employed, nor only development resistance capacity was influenced by cover thickness, but also more sufficient safety factor reserved shorter than the lap splice length provision in current design code. From experimental research results, high-strength concrete development length was not inverse ratio of ($\sqrt{f_{ck}}$) but directly inverse of $f_{ck}$, and it is also said that there is a certain limit length of the embedded steel over which the assumption of uniform bond stress distribution is valid specially for high-strength concrete not having a same embed length such as normal-strength concrete in current design criteria hypothesis.

Kinds, shapes and fraction ratios of fibers have influence on properties of HPFRCC(High-Performance Fiver Reinforced Cementitious Concrete ) like bending strength, strain capacity and fracture toughness. For example, hydrophilic fibers have different chemical bond strength from hydrophobic fibers, fiber shapes influence on fiber pull-out and rupture, and fiber volume fraction influence on bending strength. In this study, to estimate influences of kinds, shapes and fraction ratios of fibers, we make HFRCC with 3 kind of fiber in various volume fraction of fiber and compare cracking, bending strength and fracture toughness. As the results, bending strength of HPFRCC was increased as fiber volume fraction was Increase and fiber tensile strength was increase, and strain capacity and fracture toughness of HFRCC was higher in fiber pull-out fracture than in fiber rupture fracture. And HFRCC showing pseudo strain hardening has higher fiber reinforce efficiency than others.
This paper presents the test results of total 24 beam-end specimens to investigate the effect of high-strength concrete and cover thickness on the development resistance capacity in tensile lap splice length regions. Based on bond characteristics that an increase in concrete strength results in higher bond stress and shortening of the transfer length, cracking behavior that thin cover thickness induced a splitting crack easily and brittle crack propagation, current design code that development length provisions as uniform bond stress assumption was investigated apply as it. The results showed that as higher strength concrete was employed, not only development resistance capacity was influenced by cover thickness, but also more sufficient safety factor reserved shorter than the lap splice length provision in current design code. From experimental research results, high-strength concrete development length was not inverse ratio of $\sqrt{f_{ck}}$ but directly inverse of $f_{ck}$, and it is also said that there is a certain limit length of the embedded steel over which the assumption of uniform bond stress distribution is valid specially for high-strength concrete not having a same embed length such as normal-strength concrete in current design criteria hypothesis.

The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the bond strengths between stainless steel plate and zinc phosphate cement, polycarboxylate cement and glass ionomer cement, which are frequently used for cementation of stainless steel crowns. Three cementing materials were glued to the poles standing above stainless steel plate, bovine teeth, light cured glass ionomer restorative material and amalgam. And the tensile bond strengths between them were measured with universal testing machine and the results were statistically processed using ANOVA and Student t-test. The obtained results were as follows : 1. On stainless steel plate, glass ionomer cement and polycarboxylate cement showed higher tensile bond strengths compared to zinc phosphate cement, with no significant difference between the former two. 2. On the surface of bovine teeth and glass ionomer restorative material, glass ionomer cement showed highest bond strength, followed by polycarboxylate cement and zinc phosphate cement in order. 3. For amalgam restoration, polycarboxylate cement and glass ionomer cement showed higher tensile bond strengths than zinc phosphate cement, with no significant difference between the former two.

This study was intended to investigate the proper shape and size of calcium carbonate for the improvement of paper properties and its end use performance. We loaded calcium carbonate of various shapes and size in the handsheet and measured their physical and optical properties. Results obtained from the study are summarized as follows : 1. Due to different particle shapes and sizes, precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) contributed greater to bulk improvement than ground calcium carbonate (GCC). Scalenohedral form of PCC produced the bulkiest sheet, GCC made the sheet bulkier as average particle size increases. 2. Tensile strength increased as average particle size was increasing. GCC kept tensile strength more effectively than PCC. The effect of particle size on tensile strength was much more pronounced as filler addition level was increasing. 3. Over the average particle size of 6.99$\mu$m, GCC gave much higher burst strength and internal bond than PCC did. In the filler levels of 20% and 30%, GCC by using bigger size fillers showed 50~100% improvement in some cases than PCC at the same filler content. 4. Tear strength increased as average particle size was increasing. At the filler level of 30%, PCC decreased tear greatly. 5. Over the average particle size of 13.56$\mu$m, GCC kept bending stiffness greater than PCC. Due to its shape, Scalenohedral form of PCC showed higher stiffness than others at the same particle size. 6. Cubic and acicular form of PCC improved light scattering coefficient very effectively. Light scattering coefficient of GCC decreased as average particle size increased. 7. Both of particle shape and size of filler were important factor in developing optical properties and bending stiffness. Particle size was the only important factor in developing other strength properties
The effects of slag content and polymer-binder ratio on the strength properties of autoclaved SBR-modified concretes using ground granulated blast-furnace slag(slag) and a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) latex are examined. As a result, the compressive and tensile strengths of the autoclaved SBR-modified concretes using slag increase with increasing slag content, and reach a maximum at a slag content 40%, and increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio. In particular, the autoclaved SBR-modified concretes with a slag content of 40% provide about three times higher tensile strength than unmodified concretes. Such high strength development is attributed to the high tensile strength of SBR polymer and the improved bond between cement hydrates and aggregates because of the addition of SBR latex.

Sodium hypochlorite and ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid are substances usually used during endodontic treatment. Several studies found that the bonding was negated with certain irrigants and some of the used irrigants have demineralizing and chealating effects, so it was advocated to omit the etching step in etch and rinse adhesive systems. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of NaOCl & EDTA on the bonding strength of ethanol wet bonding. Thirty human molars were selected and mesiodistally sectioned into halves, thus providing sixty specimens. The specimens were randomly assigned to 4 groups(n=15) according to the irrigant regimen used : (1) irrigated with distilled water for 10min (control); (2) irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl(10min), flushed with 5.25% NaOCl(1min) (3) irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl, flushed with 17% EDTA (4) irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl, flushed with 17% EDTA. Each group was acid-etched with 37% phosphoric acid(except group 4) and had their dentin surfaces dehydrated with ethanol solutions : 50%, 70%, 80%, 95%, 3x100%, 30s for each application. After dehydration, a primer( 50% all bond 3 resin + 50% ethanol) was used, followed by the adhesive(ALL-BOND 3 RESIN) application. Resin composite build-ups were then prepared using an incremental technique. Specimens were sectioned into beams and submitted to a tensile load using a Micro Tensile Tester(Bisco Inc.). The data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD at p<0.5 level. There was no significant difference on G1(control) and G2(irrigated with NaOCl only ). (p>0.05). G3(flushed with EDTA) showed significantly high tensile bonding strength compared to the G2 (p<0.05). G4( treated with EDTA but no acid-etching) was significantly lower value than G3. (p<0.05) Although there was no significant difference, 5.25% NaOCl seemed to have an adverse effect on the bonding strength of ethanol wet bonding. The flushing with EDTA after NaOCl irrigation prevents the decrease of bonding strength. The use of 17% EDTA as a final flush can enhance the bonding strength but EDTA flushing can't substitute for a acid-etching.

Currently many researches have been performed for enhancing durability of concrete. Rice husk ash has several advantages like early strength of concrete and dense pore structure. A calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) gel around the cement particles due to pozzolanic reaction of rice husk can increase the strength of concrete against cracking. Very limitedly a systematic and detailed investigation on the corrosion performance of rice husk ash and silica fume blended concrete is performed. A realistic approach has been made through compressive strength, bond strength, and split tensile strength etc. Corrosion performance was also evaluated rapid chloride ion penetration test (RCPT) and impressed voltage test, and the results were discussed in the paper.

Dissimilar friction welding were produced using 10mm and 11mm diameter solid bar in Inconel ally(IN X-750) to Stainless steel(STS316L) to investigate their mechanical properties. The main friction welding parameters were selected to endure good quality welds on the basis of visual examination, tensile tests, Virkers hardness surveys of the bond of area and HAZ and macro-structure investigations. The specimens were tested as welded, not heat-treated. The tensile strength of the friction welded steel bars was increased up to $95\%$ of the STS316L base metal under the condition of all heating time. Optimal welding conditions were n=2,000(rpm), $P_1=220(MPa),\;P_2=260(MPa),\;t_1=4(s),\;t_2=4(s)$ when the total upset length is 7(mm).
