Instantaneous Temporal Parts and Time Travel (순간의 시간적 부분과 시간여행)

  • The standard definition of an instantaneous temporal part cannot properly deal with cases involving time travel. This paper provides a new definition of an instantaneous temporal part by appealing to David Lewis's distinction between external time and personal time. The new definition avoids the problems because it does not allow more than one instantaneous temporal part of an object at each moment of its personal time. We argue that this new definition, combined with our new perdurantist semantic thesis, deals with cases of time travel successfully.

Mitigating the State Explosion Problem using Relay Model Checking (릴레이 모델 체킹을 이용한 상태 폭발 문제 해결)

  • In temporal logic model checking, the number of states is exponentially increased by the size of a model. This is called the state explosion problem. Abstraction, partial order, symmetric, etc. are widely used to avoid the problem. They reduce a number of states by exploiting structural information in a model. Instead, this paper proposes the relay model checking that decomposes a temporal formula to be verified into several sub-formulas and then model checking them one by one. As a result, we solve complex games that can't handle with previous techniques.

  • 사회적으로 복잡한 문제들이 시공간 형태로 문제 표현이 가능하고 이를 활용하여 문제를 해결하기 위한 연구들이 진행 중이다. 특히, 시뮬레이션 이론 중 하나인 BM-DEVS는 시공간 논리를 적용하여 실세계에서 일어나는 문제들을 시공간 규칙으로써 표현하였고 이를 모델에 적용하여 시스템에서 행위를 모니터링한다. 하지만 BM-DEVS에서는 시스템 차원에서 정의된 시공간 규칙들을 평가하기 위하여 Büchi 오토마타로의 변환과 오토마타를 모델들에 반영할 수 있어야 한다. 이를 위하여 시스템을 구축하는 모델러가 직접 규칙을 오토마타로 변환하는 작업을 해야하며 이에 대한 오토마타를 모델에 적용하기까지는 많은 시간이 소요된다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 모델링의 단순화를 위하여 시공간 규칙을 모델들에 자동적으로 적용하는 방법에 대하여 소개한다.

A Study on the Change Detection of Multi-temporal Data - A Case Study on the Urban Fringe in Daegu Metropolitan City - (대도시 주변지역의 토지이용변화 - 대구광역시를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this article is to examine land use change in the fringe area of a metropolitan city through multi-temporal data analysis. Change detection has been regarded as one of the most important applications for utilization of remotely sensed imageries. Conventionally, two images were used for change detection, and Arithmetic calculators were generally used on the process. Meanwhile, multi-temporal change detection for a large number of images has been carried out. In this paper, a digital land-use map and three Landsat TM data were utilized for the multi-temporal change detection Each urban area map was extracted as a base map on the process of multi-temporal change detection. Each urban area map was converted to bit image by using boolean logic. Various urban change types could be obtained by stacking the urban area maps derived from the multi-temporal data using Geographic Information System(GIS). Urban change type map was created by using the process of piling up the bit images. Then the urban change type map was compared with each land cover map for the change detection. Dalseo-gu of Daegu city and Hwawon-eup of Dalsung-gun, the fringe area of Daegu Metropolitan city, were selected for the test area of this multi-temporal change detection method. The districts are adjacent to each other. Dalseo-gu has been developed for 30 yeais and so a large area of paddy land has been changed into a built-up area. Hwawon-eup, near by Dalseo-gu, has been influenced by the urbanization of Dalseo-gu. From 1972 to 1999, 3,507.9ha of agricultural area has been changed into other land uses, while 72.7ha of forest area has been altered. This agricultural area was designated as a 'Semi-agricultural area'by the National landuse Management Law. And it was easy for the preserved area to be changed into a built-up area once it would be included as urban area. Finally, the method of treatment and management of the preserved area needs to be changed to prevent the destruction of paddy land by urban sprawl on the urban fringe.

A Temporal Logic for Specification of Dynamic Systems and Its Verification (동적 시스템 명세를 위한 시제논리언어와 그 검증)

  • Many modern complex systems, including most object-oriented systems, have dynamic characteristics that their components are dynamical]y configured during run-time. However, few analysis techniques are available that consider the dynamic nature of systems explicitly. We propose a specification and analysis method for these dynamic systems. We design a new temporal logic, called HDTL, to specify the properties of dynamically evolving systems, and tune up the tableau method for this logic. HDTL incorporates variables and quantifiers that enable the automatic analysis. Using HDTL and the analysis method, we can specify the correctness requirements of systems and check whether the system actually agree with the requirements or not. An experiment shows that HDTL is suitable for specifying dynamic properties and the analysis technique works well.

  • In this paper we investigate a trend analysis service using Semantic Web technology in a news domain. The trend analysis service can provide more intelligent answers rather than the answer given In current news search engines since it can analyze the passage of time and the relation among news. In order to provide the trend analysis service, the capability of temporal reasoning is required, but the Semantic Web language such as OWL does not support the reasoning capability. Therefore, we propose a language TL-OWL(Temporal Web Ontology Language) extending OWL with the temporal reasoning.

Optimization of discrete event system in a temporal logic framework (시간논리구조에서 이산사건시스템의 최적화)

  • In this paper, we consider the optimal control problem based on Discrete Event Dynamic Systems(DEDS) in the Temporal Logic framework(TLF) which have studied for a convenient modeling technique. The TLF is enhanced with objective functions(event cost indices) and a measurement space is also defined. Our research goal is the design of the optimal controller for DEDSs. This procedure could be guided by the heuristic search methods. For the heuristic search, we suggested the Stochastic Ruler algorithm, instead of the A algorithm with difficulties as following; the uniqueness of solutions, the computational complexity and how to select a heuristic function. This SR algorithm is used for solving the optimal problem. An example is shown to illustrate our results.

  • A DEDS is a system whose states change in response to the occurence of events from a predefined event set. In this paper, we consider the optimal control and reasoning problem for Discrete Event Systems(DES) in the Temporal Logic Framework(TEL) which have been recnetly defined. The TLE is enhanced with objective functions(event cost indices) and a measurement space is alos deined. A sequence of event which drive the system form a give initial state to a given final state is generated by minimizing a cost functioin index. Our research goal is the reasoning of optimal trajectory and the design of the optimal controller for DESs. This procedure could be guided by the heuristic search methods. For the heuristic search, we suggested the Stochastic Ruler algorithm, instead of the A algorithm with difficulties as following ; the uniqueness of solutions, the computational complexity and how to select a heuristic function. This SR algorithm is used for solving the optimal problem. An example is shown to illustrate our results.

  • 상황 정보 관리 시스템은 외부에서 입력된 상황 정보의 숨겨진 의미를 파악하여 상황인지 에이전트 및 상황인지 브로커가 효과적으로 상황정보를 획득하도록 한다. 본 논문에서는 외부 환경으로부터 받은 상황정보의 숨겨진 의미를 파악하기 위해 DL 추론과 시간적 추론을 적용한 상황 정보 관리 시스템을 제안한다. 이를 위해서 3가지 부분에 초점을 두었다. 첫 번째, 외부에서 입력된 상황 정보를 효율적으로 표현하고 여러 에이전트간의 상황 정보 공유가 가능하도록 온톨로지 모델을 적용한다. 온톨로지로 표현된 상황정보는 정보의 속성을 제약함으로써 숨겨진 상황 정보를 추론할 수 있도록 해준다. 두 번째로 상황 정보의 관계를 추론할 수 있도록 서술 논리(Description Logic)를 적용한다. 마지막으로 상황 정보의 시간적 관계를 추론할 수 있도록 시간 논리(Temporal Logic)을 적용한다. 따라서 본 논문에서의 최종 목표는 상황 정보 관리 시스템 연구를 통해 상황인지 에이전트 및 상황인지 브로커에 활용이 가능한 온톨로지 기반 추론 기능을 보유하는 지능형 모듈의 기본 프레임워크를 구축하는 것이다.
