To improve the accuracy of land-cover discrimination in SAB data classification, this paper presents a methodology that includes feature extraction and fusion steps with multi-temporal SAR data. Three features including average backscattering coefficient, temporal variability and coherence are extracted from multi-temporal SAR data by considering the temporal behaviors of backscattering characteristics of SAR sensors. Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence(D-S theory) and fuzzy logic are applied to effectively integrate those features. Especially, a feature-driven heuristic approach to mass function assignment in D-S theory is applied and various fuzzy combination operators are tested in fuzzy logic fusion. As experimental results on a multi-temporal Radarsat-1 data set, the features considered in this paper could provide complementary information and thus effectively discriminated water, paddy and urban areas. However, it was difficult to discriminate forest and dry fields. From an information fusion methodological point of view, the D-S theory and fuzzy combination operators except the fuzzy Max and Algebraic Sum operators showed similar land-cover accuracy statistics.

Time series analysis was conducted to identify the factors affecting short-term variation of water temperature in Wando. Spectrum analysis showed that air temperature peaks at diurnal period, while water temperature and tide level peak at both semi-diurnal and diurnal periods. Coherence between water temperature and the tide level presented 0.92 at semi-diurnal period. Numerical experiment were carried out to understand the spatio-temporal distribution of water temperature in the study area. Average water temperature difference between maximum ebb and flood was $0.3^{\circ}C$ in spring tide, but $0.13^{\circ}C$ in neap tide. The reason for the large difference in spring tide is that relatively cold water entered with strong tidal currents at flood tide and flowed out at ebb tide. Water temperature on coasts was higher than out at sea. This is because the depth in the coast is shallower than at sea, and water temperature increases rapidly due to solar radiation.
Landfast sea ice forms near coastlines in polar regions. Continuous monitoring of this sea ice is important, as it plays a key role in the marine ecosystem and affects the operation of nearby research stations. This study detected landfast sea ice around Jang Bogo research station in East Antarctica by stacking interferometric coherence images of Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data with 6-, 12- and 18-day temporal baselines. A total of 50 landfast sea ice maps were generated covering July 2017 to June 2018. The time series revealed regional differences in the timing of the maximum extent as well as growth rate of landfast sea ice. Overall, detecting landfast sea ice using interferometric SAR coherence seems promisingly feasible; however, limitations remain owing to low backscattering coefficients from new and smooth sea ice surfaces and subtle movements of sea ice in contact with the Campbell Glacier Tongue.

Hierarchical B-frame coding was introduced into H.264/SVC to provide temporal scalability and improve coding performance. A content analysis-based adaptive group of picture structure (AGS) can further improve the coding efficiency, but damages the inter-frame correlation and temporal scalability of hierarchical B-frame to different degrees. In this paper, we propose a group of pictures (GOP) adaptation coding method based on the positions of video cuts. First, the cut positions are accurately detected by the combination of motion coherence (MC) and mutual information (MI); then the GOP is adaptively and proportionately set by the analysis of MC in one scene. In addition, we propose a binary tree algorithm to achieve the temporal scalability of any size of GOP. The results for test sequences and real videos show that the proposed method reduces the bit rate by up to about 15%, achieves a performance gain of about 0.28-1.67 dB over a fixed GOP, and has the advantages of better transmission resilience and video summaries.
In this paper, we present a novel method for creating a hand-painted painterly animation, starting from a video input. One of the most important aspects in painterly animation is to maintain the temporal coherence of brush strokes between frames, which plays a vital role to warrant a smooth transition between frames. Our unique utilization of motion areas enables users to produce a smooth movement of brush strokes. The motion areas are the parts where objects move between frames and they are categorized in two main types. A strong motion area is the part where the movement of real edges and hidden edges is determined by the motion vector between frames. The real edge is the outline of an object and the hidden edge is the boundary to represent the direction of a grain of intensity in the areas with gradations. A weak motion area is the remainder after subtracting the strong motion area from the entire motion area. Temporally coherent painterly animation is achieved by re-painting the brush strokes on the canvas using two motion areas, resulting in a natural and hand-painted appearance.
This paper analyses the performance of FFTSA (Fast Fourier Transform Synthetic Aperture) in the effects of temporal coherence and oscillatory towed course, which is one of the techniques for passive synthetic aperture SONAR process using linearly distributed towed array. Also this paper proposes the FFTSA technique using towed array having conformal shape to alleviate the performance degradation for estimating the incident angle under inconsistent under water environments. And this paper analyses the performance of the proposed FFTSA technique making use of conformal structure throughout exhaustive computer simulations.

In this paper, we propose a method that estimates the channel response from underwater communication signals with MMSE (Minimun Mean Squared Error) and detects dominant components automatically based on power of response components using CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate). Statistical characteristics are analyzed with variation of magnitude and phase and time coherence via experimental data obtained by drifting transmitter and receiver. We show that bit error rate has small difference, 1.2 times, compared with the case using every channel information estimated within data period when estimation and equalization is performed with extracted characteristic obtained by the proposed method.
The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of electroencephalograph (EEG) power and coherence on cognitive function in normal elderly, non-demented elderly with mild cognitive impairment, and demented elderly during working cognition tasks. Forty elderly women (19 demented elderly, 10 non-demented elderly with mild cognitive impairment, 11 norma1 elderly) participated in this study, All subjects performed working cognition tasks with Raven's CPM while EEG signal was recorded, EEGs were measured continuously at rest and during the working cognition task. EEG power and coherence was computed over 21 channels: right and left frontal, central, parietal, temporal and occipital region. We found that there were more correct answers among normal elderly women than in other groups Owing the working cognition task, ${\Theta}$ wave at Fp1, Fp2 and F8, a wave at Fp2, ${\beta}$ wave at Fp1, Fp2. F4 and F8 of the frontal region was increased significantly in the demented elderly group. On the other hand. ${\Theta}$ wave at Fp1, Fp2 and F7, ${\beta}$ wave at Fp1, Fp2, F3 and F7 of the frontal region was increased significantly in the group of non-demented elderly with mild cognitive impairment. In contrast. in the normal elderly group, all of the ${\Theta}$ wave and ${\beta}$ wave at Fp1, Fp2, F3, F4, F7 and F8 of the frontal region (except ${\beta}$ wave at F3) was increased significantly, These results suggest that the nerves in prefrontal and right hemisphere regions were most active in the demented elderly group during problem solving, and the nerves in the prefrontal and left hemisphere lobe were most active in the group of non-demented elderly with mild cognitive impairment. In contrast, me majority of nerves in the frontal region were active in the normal elderly group.

Temporal and spatial variations of surface water temperature in Jinju Bay for the period of 2010~2011 were studied using the data from temperature monitoring buoys deployed at 17 stations in the south coast of Korea. Water temperature shows the maximum late in January and the minimum early in August. Seasonal variation of water temperatures at the north part of the bay is smaller than the middle and the south. In summer, the lowest and the highest of maximum water temperature are distributed around Jijok Channel which is located at the south of the bay. The fluctuations of water temperatures at Noryang and Daebang Channel are smaller than others because of vertical mixing caused by passage of strong tidal currents. Wind and strong currents affect on the stratification of the surface water layer near Daebang Channel. High temperatures come in frequently around the north area when eastward constant flows appear at neap tide as blowing westerly in the springtime at Noryang Channel. Spectral analyses of temperature records show significant peaks at 7~20 day periods at Noryang Channel, 7~20 day and semidiurnal at the west coast of Changsun Island and Jijok Channel and 7~20 day and diurnal at the middle of the bay. Temperature fluctuation at Noryang Channel shows high coherence and has leading phase with those at other stations in the bay. However, the phase of temperature fluctuation at Noryang Channel falls behind that at Daebang Channel. Daebang Channel has an influence on the temperature fluctuation only at the west and middle part of the bay. Cross-correlation analyses for the temperature fluctuation show that Jinju Bay could be classified into six areas; Noryang Channel, the area of convergence and divergence at the north, Daebang Channel, the west coast of Changsun Island, the mixing area at the middle of the bay and the south inside of the bay, respectively.
