  • Electronic signatures, QR codes, and bar codes are used in payment systems used in real life. Research has begun on the payment system implemented in the VR environment. This paper proposes a VR electronic sign system that uses hand gesture recognition to implement an existing payment system in a VR environment. In a VR system, you can not hit the keyboard or touch the mouse. There can be several ways to configure a payment system with a VR controller. Electronic signage using hand gesture recognition is one of them, and hand gesture recognition can be classified by the Warping Methods, Statistical Methods, and Template Matching methods. In this paper, the payment system was configured in VR using the $p algorithm belonging to the Template Matching method. To create a VR environment, we implemented a paypal system where actual payment is made using Unity3D and Vive equipment.

  • An electrocardiogram(ECG) is a recoding of electrical signals of the heart's cyclic activity and an important body information for diagnosing myocardial rhythm. Large amount of information are generated continuously and a significant period of cumulative signal is required for the purpose of diagnosing a specific disease. Therefore, research on compression including clinically acceptable lossy technique has been developed to reduce the amount of information significantly. Recently, wearable smart heart monitoring devices that can transmit electrocardiogram(ECG) are being developed. The use of electrocardiogram, an important personal information for healthcare service, is rapidly increasing. However, devices generally have limited capability and power consumption for user convenience, and it is often difficult to apply the existing compression method directly. It is essential to develop techniques that can process and transmit a large volume of signals in limited resources. A method for compressing and transmitting the ECG signals efficiently by using the cumulative average (template) of the unit waveform is proposed in the paper. The ECG is coded lovelessly using template matching. It is analyzed that the proposed method is superior to the existing compression methods at high compression ratio, and its complexity is not relatively high. And it is also possible to apply compression methods to template matching values.

  • Recently, there is an increasing need for developing the technique of Hand Gesture Recognition (HGR), for vision based interface. Since hand gesture is defined as consecutive change of hand posture, developing the algorithm of Hand Posture Recognition (HPR) is required. Among the factors that decrease the performance of HPR, we focus on rotation factor. To achieve rotation invariant HPR, we propose a method that uses the property of video that adjacent frames in video have high correlation, considering the environment of HGR. The proposed method introduces template update of object tracking using the above mentioned property, which is different from previous works based on still images. To compare our proposed method with previous methods such as template matching, PCA and LBP, we performed experiments with video that has hand rotation. The accuracy rate of the proposed method is 22.7%, 14.5%, 10.7% and 4.3% higher than ordinary template matching, template matching using KL-Transform, PCA and LBP, respectively.

  • In this paper, a fast human detection method using adaptive UV-histogram and template matching is proposed. The proposed method improves the detection rate in the scene of complex environment. The method firstly generates U-histogram to extract human candidates and adaptively generates V-histogram for each labled U-histogram, thus it could extract humans correctly, which was impossible in the previous method. The method tries to match the human candidates with the adaptively sized omega shape template to the focal length and distance in order to improve the detection accuracy. It also detects false positives by rematching the template with accumulated foreground images and hence is robust to the occlusion. Experimental results showed that the proposed method has superior performance to the Bae's method in the complex environment with about 15% improvement in precision and 80% in recall and has 20 times faster processing time than Xia's method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for template matching, patch ratio, to inpaint unknown pixels. Before this paper, many inpainting methods used sum of squared differences(SSD) or sum of absolute differences(SAD) to calculate distance between patches and it was very useful for closest patches for the template that we want to fill in. However, those methods don't consider about geometric similarity and that causes unnatural inpainting results for human visuality. Patch ratio can cover the geometric problem and moreover computational cost is less than using SSD or SAD. It is guaranteed about finding the most similar patches by Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. For ignoring unnecessary process, we compare only selected candidates by priority calculations. Exeperimental results show that the proposed algorithm is more efficent than Criminisi's one.

  • This paper proposes a new detection method of human faces in grey scale images with cluttered background using a facial template and elliptical structure of the human head. Face detection technique can be applied in many areas of image processing such as face recognition, composition and computer graphics, etc. Until now, many researches about face detection have been done, and applications in more complicated conditions are increasing. The existing technique proposed by Sirohey shows relatively good performance in image with cluttered background, but can apply only to image with one face and needs much computation time. The proposed method is designed to reduce complexity and be applied even in the image with several faces by introducing template matching as preprocess. The results show that the proposed method produces more correct detection rate and needs less computation time than the existing one.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for deciding permission from the ATM(Automated Teller Machine) using face detection. First, we extract skin areas and make candidate face images from an input image, and then detect a face using Adaboost(Adaptive Boosting) algorithm. Next, proposed method executes a template matching for making a decision on whether to wear accessories like sunglasses or a mask in detected face image. Finally, this method decides whether to permit ATM service using this result. Experimental results show that proposed method performed well at indoors ATM environment for detecting whether to wear accessories.

  • The character strings on chips and components are so tiny and numerous that it is a very difficult work for people to perform. In paper, this we propose a mark automatic checking system, which will determine whether chip is wrong-mark or not by recognizing characters on chips. Lots of faulty detection conditions and template matching methods are used to inspect the faulty mark items. The faulty detection classifies conditions as five kinds-darkness, matching, area, broken and branch. A series of experimentation shan that the method proposed here am offer an effective way to determine wrong-mark on chips.
