For mist sensing, temperature-humidity sensor is attached on six positions of front glass and rearview mirror in automobile. Bottom-left side of front glass is the best position where mist is sensing. For mist removal, air conditioner is turned on intensity 1, 3 and is set the temperature at 17[$^{\circ}C$], 25[$^{\circ}C$]. And heater is turned on intensity 1, 3 and is set the temperature at 25[$^{\circ}C$], 32[$^{\circ}C$]. The best condition which mist is removed is temperature at 17[$^{\circ}C$] and intensity 3 of air conditioner mode. At this condition, total average value of humidity output voltage difference is 0.561[V]. Also, air conditioner mode is effective than heater mode for mist sensing and removal.

Flat panel image display devices such as TFT LCD and PDP have required more large area and high quality control components. To control the qualities of the components, measurements of the flatness of a plate glass has been required. In order to measure the shape of the specular objects, Non-Contact Optical Sensor using Hologram laser unit was proposed. The sensor has a optical system that is composed of a Hologram laser and objective lens. The temperature of the sensor body is controlled by TEC(Thermoelectric Cooler) to maintain the same wavelength of the diode laser. In this research, we proposed the calibration scheme to make sensor real time measuring sensor. From the experimental results we see that the proposed sensor unit can measure the position of the glass surface in rial time.
Two kinds of temperature monitoring technology have been introduced in this study, which can measure coincidently temperatures at many points along a single length of cable. One is to use a thermal sensor cable comprizing of addressable thermal sensors. The other is to use an optic fiber sensor with Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system. The differences between two technologies can be summarized as follows: A thermal sensor cable has a concept of "point sensing" that can measure temperature only at a predefined position. The accuracy and resolution of temperature measurement are up to the capability of the individual thermal sensor. On the other hand, an optic fiber sensor has a concept of "distributed sensing" because temperature is measured practically at all points along the fiber optic cable by analysing the intensity of Raman back-scattering when a laser pulse travels along the fiber. Thus, the temperature resolution depends on the measuring distance, measuring time and spatial resolution. The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of two different temperature monitoring techniques in technical and economical sense. To this end, diverse experiments with two techniques were performed and two techniques are applied under the same condition. Considering the results, the thermal sensor cable will be well applicable to the assessment of groundwater flow, geothermal distribution and grouting efficiency within about loom distance, and the optic fiber sensor will be suitable for long distance such as pipe line inspection, tunnel fire detection and power line monitoring etc.

There are several sensors in the liquid cargo ship. In the liquid cargo ship, we can get values from various sensors that are level sensor, temperature sensor, pressure sensor, oxygen sensor, VOCs sensor, high overfill sensor, etc. It is important to guarantee the reliability of sensors. In order to guarantee the reliability of sensors, we have to study the diagnosis of sensor fault. The technology of smart sensor is widely used. In this paper, the technology of smart sensor is applied to diagnosis of level sensor fault for liquid cargo ship. In order to diagnose sensor fault and find the sensor position, in this paper, we proposed algorithms of diagnosis of sensor fault using independent sensor diagnosis unit and self fault diagnosis using sensor modeling. Proposed methods are demonstrated by experiment and simulation. The results show that the proposed approach is useful. Proposed methods are useful to develop smart level sensor.

Various MEMS accelerometers are used in engineering applications including automobiles, mobile phones, military systems, and electronic devices. Among them, the thermal accelerometer employing the temperature difference induced by the convective flow inside the micro cavity has been a topic of interest. As the convective sensor does not utilize a solid proof mass, it is compact, lightweight, inexpensive to manufacture, sensitive and highly endurable to mechanical shock. However, the complexity of the convective flow and various design constraints make optimization of a device a crucial step before fabrication. In this work, optimization of a 2-axis thermal convective MEMS accelerometer is conducted based on 3-dimensional numerical simulation. Parametric studies are performed by varying the several design variables such as the heater shape/size, the cavity size and types of the gas medium and the position of temperature probes in the sensor. The results of optimal design are presented.
We propose and develop Home Security robot system based on Sensor Network (HSSN) configured by sensor nodes including radio frequency (RF), ultrasonic, temperature, light and sound sensors. Our system can acknowledge security alarm events that are acquired by sensor nodes and relayed in the hop-by-hop transmission way. There are sensor network, Home Security Mobile Robot (HSMR) and Home Server(HS) in this system. In the experimental results of this system, we presented that our system has more enhanced performance of response to emergency context and more speedy and accurate path planning to target position for arriving an alarm zone with obstacle avoidance and acquiring the context-aware information.

SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) drives require the accurate position and speed information of the rotor. These informations are generally provided by a shaft encoder or resolver. High temperature, EMI, and dust may make detection performance deteriorate. Therefore, the elimination of the position and speed sensor is desirable. In this paper, a nonlinear adaptive observer using the MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive System) is proposed. The rotor speed and position are estimated by the adaptation law using the real and estimated currents. The stability of the adaptive observer is proved by Lyapunov stability theory. The proposed methods are implemented with TMS320C31 DSP. Experimental results prove that the observer has a good estimation performance of the rotor speed and position despite of the parameter variations and loads, and the speed control can be accomplished in the wide speed range.

The IR signature data of a ship is mainly affected by location, meteorological conditions(atmosphere temperature, wind direction and velocity, humidity etc.), atmospheric transmittance, solar position and ship surface temperature etc. The IR signatures received by a remote sensor at a given temperature and wavelength region is consisted of the self-emitted component directly from the object surface, the reflected component of the solar irradiation at the object surface, and the scattered component by the atmosphere without ever reaching the object surface. Computer simulations for prediction of the IR signatures of ships are very useful to examine the effects of various sensor positions. In this paper, we have acquired the IR signature for different sensor positions by using computer program for prediction of the IR signatures. The numerical results show that the IR signature contrast as compared to the background sea considering the meteorological conditions, solar and sky irradiations.

Sensor node means a device to include sensor, amplifier, and data acquisition (DAQ) equipment. The sensor converts physical signals to electric signals and weak signals from the sensor can be amplified through the amplifier. DAQ equipment converts analog signal to digital signal and collects converted digital signal. Since the sensor node is sensitive to the environment so that selection of mounting position and fixture design of sensor are applied differently depending on the characteristics of a target. This study is about designing and manufacturing sensor node to be used in a machine tool. The environment of machine tool is very severe due to noise, temperature fluctuation, and dust, etc. Hence, the sensor and amplifier must be designed and manufactured by considering the environmental issues. The designed and manufactured sensor node was tested for the reliability and effectiveness of the developed sensor nodes in the study.
A sensor working in outdoor may generate some faulty signal owing to dust and high temperature. This paper describes an intelligent sensor system and controller which has a reconstruction mechanism for faulty signal. The faulty signals are dievided into two types as linear distortion and non linear distortion, respectively. The linear distorted signal is due to dust, and non linear distorted signal is due to physical breakdown of sensor or high temperature. These distorted signal have been reconstructed by the proposed method based on polynomial regression method and principal component analysis approach.. The proposed method has been applied to sun tracking system working in outdoor. For a robust and precision control of sun tracker, a fuzzy controller was also proposed. The fuzzy controller controls the tracker by using the collected sensor signal. The tolerance of the position control is within 1.5 degree. To show the validity of the developed system, some experiments in the field were illustrated.
