A Study on the Characteristics of Spontaneous Ignition for Rice Cracker (쌀과자의 자연발화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Spontaneous ignition characteristics of rice cracker were observed by preforming experiments at constant ambient temperature. As the results of the experiments, the critical spontaneous ignition temperature were exponentially decreased with the increase of ambient temperature. Type of combustion of rice cracker are smouldering combustion at low ignition temperature and flame combustion at high temperature. The rice cracker containing pam oil showed lower spontaneous ignition temperature than pure rice cracker because of oxidation heat of pam oil.

  • In this study, we evaluated the dependence of thickness and temperature in the breakdown strength of MDPE and effect of semiconductor. As the result, breakdown strength trend to decrease according to the increase of thickness and temperature. We obtained the result that the breakdown strength was a little lower in the structure of Semi/MDPE than Semi/MDPE/Semi, but breakdown strength of MDPE was greater both of all. The dependency of permittivity, tan ${\delta}$ and conductance on frequency and temperature were investigated. Both of the specimans showed the trend of decreased in permittivity as the temperature increased but increase as the frequency increased.

Thermo mechanical analysis of a ceramic coated piston used in a diesel engine

  • The aim of this paper is to determine temperature and stress distributions in a ceramic based on Partially Stabilized Zirconia coated steel piston crown by using plasma spraying for improving performance of a marine diesel engine. Effects of coating constituent and thickness on temperature and stress distributions were investigated including comparisons with results from an uncoated piston by means of finite element method namely ANSYS. Temperature developed at the coated surface is significantly higher than that of the uncoated piston. The maximum stress components occur between bond coat and adjacent ceramic layer. Provided that coating thickness is constant as 0.5 mm, when numbers of layers increase, magnitude of the normal stress decrease about 34.1% on the base metal surface according to uncoated piston, but the base metal surface temperature of the steel piston increase about 13.1%.

  • We have investigated dielectric properties depending on temperature and voltage in organic light-emitting diodes using N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4,4'-di-amine (TPD) as an hole transport. We analyzed the Cole-Cole plot of TPD. When the voltage is over 3 V, we found that a radius of Cole-Cole plot and $\beta$ increase as the temperature increases to 65 $^{\circ}C$, However, as the over the 65 $^{\circ}C$, those values decrease. Also, when the voltage is below 3 V, a radius of cole-cole plot and $\beta$ increase with the increased temperature.

  • In almost all real situations, there will be a radiant interchange between adjacent fins with the base surface as well as with the external environment. In the problem of this study, a rectangular fin is attached to a based. Our concern is whether the convective fin efficiency can be increased by the radiation heat exchanged between the fin and the base surface and how much. If the fin temperature toward the tip increased by the effect of radiation, the convective heat transfer increase due to the temperature difference between the ambient temperature and the surface temperature of the fin. If this true, the efficiency of the fin due to the radiation will increase. Attention is directed toward several parameters which have major roles on getting values of the fin efficiencies in several different values of parameters. Many different cases are, therefore, to be examined to have maximum fin efficiency by varying the values of each parameter.

  • This paper is intended to verify the efficiency of anti-freeze agent and insulating form by analyzing the temperature history and the property of strength-increase about the concrete that is placed in the insulating form and normal form, using new type anti-freeze agent in batcher plant According to the results about the temperature history, while the lowest temperature shows 3$^{\circ}C$ in case of normal concrete + euroform, 4$^{\circ}C$ in case of normal concrete + insulating form, it shows 6$^{\circ}C$ in anti-freeze agent + the insulating form, so the effect is most favorable. The compressive strength with mixing anti-freeze agent or not, shows high in order of standard curing, structure-managing and open air-placed specimen and the concrete mixing anti-freeze agent shows the highest compressive strength-increase.

J-Integral under Transient Temperature State (천이온도 상태에서의 J적분)

  • For the cracked plate under transient temperature distribution, J-integral is expressed in the form of line integral by using convolution integral. The J$_{1}$ integral is calculated for a through line center cracked steel plate under thermal and mechanical loading conditions and the calculated values are in good agreement with previous results. The effect of inertia term on the J$_{1}$ integral is not negligible for a glass but for a steel. For the glass plate, the rates of J$_{1}$ integral value to time increase if the values of material properties such as specific heat, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and Young`s modulus as well as crack length and temperature difference in cracked edge increase.

  • A basic experimental study was conducted in order to find the optimum combustion control technology to decrease the thermal NO$_{x}$, by applying the catalytic combustion method with natural gas. NO$_{x}$ emission increased with increasing space velocity due to temperature rising in the furnace. In order to overcome the low resistance to high temperature, secondary air was supplied to the CST combustor. The following secondary fuel formed combustible mixture in part, which resulted in steep increase of the exiting temperature of the 2nd catalyst bed. It led to the more generator of NO$_{x}$, 30∼60% of the 1 st catalyst bed. It might be due to the potential increase of thermal NO$_{x}$.

  • The present study describes an experimental investigation of temperature fluctuations associated with thermal instability. Surface temperatures of brake disk and pad were monitered at various locations in a caliper type brake system during drag braking conditions. It was found that the thermal instability appeared in pad more seriously than in disk. The temperatures at various circumferential positions fluctuate synchronously, whereas the center temperature fluctuates with 180$^{\circ}$ phase difference from the outer and inner radius temperatures. The temperature and amplitude of the temperature perturbations are increased due to the increase of contact area in the center location. It was also found that the thermal instability was dominantly determined by the increase of rotation speed and pressure. And the modification of ventilation path could retard the onset of thermal instability.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the strength characteristics of frozen clay. Compressive strength tests were performed on frozen clay with different water contents at various temperatures. The dry density of specimens and strain rate was kept constant. Test results showed that compressive strength increased with increasing water content and decreasing temperature. The increase in peak strength became more significant the lower the temperature for a given water content. The failure mode changed from brittle to ductile deformation with increasing water content and decreasing temperature. Tests also showed an increase in deformation modulus with increasing peak strength, increasing water content and decreasing temperature.
