A Personalized Automatic TV Program Scheduler using Sequential Pattern Mining (순차 패턴 마이닝 기법을 이용한 개인 맞춤형 TV 프로그램 스케줄러)

  • With advent of TV environment and increasing of variety of program contents, users are able to experience more various and complex environment for watching TV contents. According to the change of content watching environment, users have to make more efforts to choose his/her interested TV program contents or TV channels than before. Also, the users usually watch the TV program contents with their own regular way. So, in this paper, we suggests personalized TV program schedule recommendation system based on the analyzing users' TV watching history data. And we extract the users' watched program patterns using the sequential pattern mining method. Also, we proposed a new sequential pattern mining which is suitable for TV watching environment and verify our proposed method have better performance than existing sequential pattern mining method in our application area. In the future, we will consider a VoD characteristic for extending to IPTV program schedule recommendation system.

  • Edutainment is the one of important factors to study interactive TV for children, and it is a big portion in kid's marketing and education market as well. The aim of this study is to design interactive TV for children to maximize edutainment effects by researching children's behaviors. The analysis of children's behaviors with educational effects should be focused to apply designing user experience to propose new ideas of interactive TV. Through observing children's behaviors and interaction with other media, such as books, CD players, digital camera, and so on, TV can be reanalyzed as reliable media, which is creative interactive TV for children with proposals of user experience structure and interaction solution. TV has been changed from analog TV to IPTV and it will be different with network and interactive solution.

The Rise and Fall of Television Musical Variety Show in Korea : Focusing on the 'Show Show Show' on TBC-TV (한국 텔레비전 음악버라이어티쇼의 성쇠 -TBC-TV의 '쇼쇼쇼'를 중심으로-)

  • This paper deals with how Korean television musical variety show rose and declined focusing the 'Show Show Show'. 'Show Show Show' was a Korean television musical variety show that ran on TBC-TV every Saturday night at 8pm. until TBC-TV was absorbed into KBS-TV in 1980. Its musical acts, of various kinds, were interspersed with comic turns and special items including dancing, mime, magic, and acrobat. Korean television musical variety show worked on what audiences had in common across generational divides till the late 1970s. 'Show Show Show's catchall format didn't cross the demographic lines like it used to. But the young generation demanded music program that spoke to their own condition in the early 1980s. 'Show Show Show' ended on KBS-TV in July 1983 through the influence of the absorption of TBC-TV into KBS-TV and the changes of cultural circumstances. The decline of the television musical variety show was attributable to the fragmentation of musical taste and the change of viewing behaviors.

  • Feb. 11. 1997, Korean Government announced FM Radio Broadcasting and TV Terrestrial TV Broadcasting will be changed to digital format in year 2001, and all Korean Broadcasting except AM Radio and Microwave will be changed to digital format before 2010. In spite of IMF economic crisis, the Digitizing is the one of the hot issue in TV Broadcasting area. The narrow view of the Digitizing the Broadcasting is a technical development from the analogue to digital, but the extended view of it means not only the technical development but the revolution in the concept of TV and service area, relationship between sender and receiver, structure of TV Industry. Thus Digitizing the Broadcasting shifts paradigm and eventually it cause a big change in the advertising creative. The digital TV could be a very encouraging technical development for the consumers convenience because of the multiple choice in the channels and interactive services which leads us to the multimedia service through the TV . On the other hand, multimedia and multi-channel, interactivity implicate a big uncertainty and risk, This research paper is about the technical aspects and social aspects of digital TV and its influence of the marketing and TV advertising creative.

Perceived Substitutability between Video Clips of Naver TV Cast and Regular TV program (네이버TV캐스트 클립영상의 TV 방송프로그램에 대한 인지된 대체가능성)

  • This study aims to figure out perceived substitutability between video clips distributed on Naver TV cast and regular TV program. An online survey was conducted for a week on October 2017, and we collected several responses, such as viewing time, viewing motive, the extent of viewing for video clip categories, and perceived substitutability between video clips and regular TV program. The dependent variable is Naver TV cast users' perceived substitutability between video clips and regular TV program, and the independent variables are viewing time, viewing motive and viewing degree by video clip categories. With these variables, hierarchical regression was conducted. The result shows that viewing time, use motives, including personal relations, booming issue and selective use, and the extent of web-based video content viewing positively affect on Naver TV cast users' perceived substitutability.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 첫째, 계속 확대되어가고 있는 미국 TV 홈쇼퍼에 대한 인구통계학적인 특성과 그들의 구매행동을 조사하여 TV 홈쇼핑에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히고 쇼핑이용자의 만족도를 증진시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 둘째, TV shopping channel 에의 많은 노출은 TV 홈쇼핑의 유통 특성상 강박구매를 야기 시킬 경향이 높은 데 과연 TV shopping channel 노출과 강박구매와 관련이 있는 지, 그리고 TV 홈쇼퍼중 어느 정도의 강박구매자가 존재하는 지 조사하는 데 있다. 미국 전지역 51주에 걸쳐 회수된 설문지 결과, 일반적 마케팅 타겟에서 소외시되온 소비자집단, 예를 들면, 중년이나 노인 여성들, 몸이 비대한 여성들, 장애인등과 같은 다양한 집단들이 TV 홈쇼핑을 그들의 주요 쇼핑형태로 이용하였고, 특히, 대다수의 TV 홈쇼퍼들은 의류를 구매한 경험이 있었다. 또한, TV shopping media에 노출이 강박구매행동과 유의한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 특히 이 연구의 TV 홈쇼퍼중 일반인에 비해 약 2배가량의 강박구매자가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 연구 결과를 토대로 사회지향적 마케팅전략이 논의되어진다.

  • 최근 사용자에 대한 많은 정보를 얻는 것이 가능해지면서, 데이터마이닝 기법이나 Contents 추천 기법을 이용한 맞춤형 서비스가 가능하게 되었다. 특히, 대부분의 사람들에게 TV 프로그램 시청은 여가생활시간에서 가장 높은 비중을 차지 하고 있다. 따라서, 보다 지능적인 TV 프로그램 서비스를 제공하는 기술에 대하여 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 TV-Anytime을 이용하여 개인화된 Electronic Program Guide (EPG)를 생성하고, 개인화된 EPG 정보를 활용하여 시청자에게 맞춤형 TV 프로그램 서비스를 제공하는 시스템에 대한 연구 결과를 제시한다. 또한 시청자의 시청패턴과 TV 프로그램 선호도를 바탕으로 시청자가 원하는 프로그램을 추천하는 TV Program Recommender Agent와 방송 및 TV 프로그램에 대한 대화를 담당하는 TV Program Helper Agent, 시스템 조정 및 메시지 전달을 담당하는 Coordinator Agent로 이루어진 멀티에이전트 기반 시스템 구조를 제시한다.

Method for Measuring Usability of Smart Television (스마트TV의 사용성 측정방법)

  • Smart TV is a television set with internet capabilities, computing ability, and broadcasting service that increases user interactions. Usability has been regarded as one of the most important criteria for measuring and evaluating smart TV. To evaluate smart TV from the perspective of usability, we first need to develop a measurement model by determining the major factors affecting usability, which become a measurement the evaluation criteria of the model. The objective of this paper is to suggest an AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) model for measuring usability of smart TV. Factors affecting usability are described from the prior research. We show how the judgment data is acquired and the usability score is computed by an numerical example.

  • The methodological framework proposed in this paper addresses the strength of the applied Bass model by Mahajan and Muller(1996) that it reflects the substitution of next generations among products. Also this paper is to estimate and analyze the forecast of demand for products that do not exist in the marketplace. We forecast the sales of digital TV using estimated market share and data obtained by the face to face Interview. In this research, we use two methods to analyze the demand for Digital TV that are the forecasting the Demand for the Substitution and binary logit analysis. The logit analysis is to estimate the decisive factor of purchasing digital TV. The decisive factors are composed of purchasing plan, region, gender, TV price, contents, coverage, income, age, and TV program. We apply the model to South Korea's market for digital TV. The results show that (1) Income, region and TV price play a prominent part which is the decisive factor of purchasing digital TV. (2) We forecaste the demand of digital TV that will be demanded about 18 millions TVs in 2015

  • This study discussed how the Moo-hyup prototype that has been formed from novels and comics was applied to TV drama in modern form beyond martial art movies, historical TV series and games by exploring Japanese TV drama . This study showed that follows the Moo-hyup prototype such as imaginary space and violence, the relationship between characters with the spirit of Moo-hyup, and the structure of Moo-hyup story rather than a story of teenagers' growing-up. This study is ultimately expected to reveal the possibility that the Moohyup prototype can be applied to the TV drama in modern form as well as historical stories.
