Design and Implementation of a Telematics Service Framework for Open Services in the Heterogeneous Network Environment (이기종 네트워크 환경에서 개방형 서비스를 위한 텔레매틱스 서비스 프레임워크 설계 및 구현)

  • Recently, as technology for obtaining locational awareness and wireless telecommunications improve, technologies and services involving Telematics has grown rapidly. However, the services are currently available on certain terminals selected by the telematics service provider (TSP). This means in order to access services provided by other TSPs, it is necessary to purchase related terminals. To solve this problem, it is essential to achieve service interoperability between TSPs, or between TSPs and the contents provider (CP). Under this backdrop, the aim of this paper is to design and implement a telematics service framework for openning services in a heterogeneous network environment. Futhermore, the paper presents open telematics protocols required for communication in the telematics service framework, and develop technologies to deal with this in different network environments.

  • Today, the vehicle is used the mean of transportation as well as the mobile office with the third digital life space. So telematics is an emerging industry that has tremendous future potential. It is necessary the essential contents for telematics services : navigation map for navigation, POI, real-time traffic information etc. In this paper, we proposed the telematics contents server to manage the telematics contents with efficient performance in distributed environment. The telematics contents server transforms and stores the essential contents and provide it to user through standard interface. The telematics contents server is middleware to offer a rapid essential telematics contents management, client connectivity, and communications. It is useful for the telematics service provider to build telematics system under distributed environment.

  • ⇒ 초록(영문) 입력자 : This document defines JSR298 Telematics API for Java ME. The main purpose of JSR298 is to be able to provide automotive telematics services through use of this specification on embedded devices that are using Java ME platform. The goal is to standardize specification in order to provide automotive telematics services using embedded devices with Java ME as their base platform. This specification defines methods for controlling and obtaining diagnostic information and conditions on various components built in to the vehicle. Therefore, this document will provide specifications required for controlling various equipments built into the vehicles as well as obtaining diagnostic information on these components and vehicle conditions. Automotive components are defined as equipments that are accessible for drivers including airbag, door, window, and brake. This specification is applicable to telematics-specific automotive terminals as well as other various portable devices including cellular phones and PDAs.

  • Recently, as mobile paradigms such as telematics or LBS (Location Based Service) have been being more diverse and mobile devices such as PDA (Personal Digital Assistance) or several telematics terminals have been being used more widely, mobile services, for example, mobile geographic information service have been being put more importance by people. In this paper, we propose to adopt S/W and data streaming mechanism as a method to improve performance of mobile geographic information service which is a representative of mobile services based on client-server architecture. The show the effectiveness of proposed methods, we design and implement S/W streaming prototype system and sample mobile geographic information service to be executed on the S/W streaming system.

  • In the mid 1990s, the combination of vehicles and communication was expected to bolster the stagnant car industry by offering a flood of new revenues. In-vehicle computing systems provide safety and control systems needed to operate the vehicle as well as infotainment, edutainment, entertainment, and mobile commerce services in a safe and responsible manner. Since 1980 the word "telematics" has meant the blending of telecommunications and informatics. Lately, telematics has been used more and more to mean "automotive telematics" which use informatics and telecommunications to enhance the functionality of motor vehicles such as wireless data applications, intelligent cruise control, and GPS in vehicles. This definition identifies telecommunications transferring information as the key enabling technology to provide these advanced services. In this paper, a possible framework for future telematics, which called an Intelligent Vehicle Network(IVN), is proposed. The paper also introduces and compares a number of existing technologies and the terms of their capabilities to support a suite of services. The paper additionally the paper suggests and analyzes possible directions for future telematics from current telematics techniques.

  • Telematics is a kind of the convergence of industries such as an automobile, communication, contents, and so on. Jeju-Do has been selected as a model city for telematics and has carried out the telematics service project. Jeju Telematics contains six service areas including navigation, traffic information, emergency assistance, leisure information, tour destination information, and cultural life information. Jeju telematics project has been planned to be dealt with the aspects of technological skills and content development. In fact, because of the nature of model project for testing information technologies, Jeju telematics has been strongly approached by technical aspects. However, telematics is composed of services for users. Then, the success or fail of telematics project can be dependent upon the demand of users, and, in general, users are influenced by the contents of services. Thus, the contents of services should be also dealt as a major concern in the telematics project. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to examine the degree of recognition and preference of contents by users about telematics service. Examination is proceeded by a survey method. Based on the result of the survey, this paper proposes the alternatives for the future directions of Jeju Telematics project regarding contents.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore essential factors of influencing user's usage intentions on telematics services and to find relationships among factors. This study derives several variables and hypotheses through literature reviews on the extended research model based on Davis's Technology Acceptance Model. With the objective of statistical verification, derived variables were sorted into meaningful categories through various statistical packages. These were included multiple regression analysis to improve the reliability of survey data. The demand analysis was conducted by targeting on users who have previously experienced telematics services. Indicated analyzed results which 'suitability', 'localization', and 'instant connectivity' variables were positively related to the user's usage intentions, especially accuracy of information variable. The factors of influencing the usage intention on telematics services can be useful empirical data in order to analyze the market trends and to suggest industrial or political guideline of telematics services.

  • Telematics is a wireless data communication system that provides various information services for driver's the safety or entertainment, and it makes drivers possible to use those services in the moving space, as if he/she is at home or at office. As telecommunication technology develops and Telematics market grows larger, standard platform for the intelligent telematics is required. This paper describes the structure and module control design of the intelligent telematics that recognizes driver's needs and pushes customized services to the driver at real-time.
