The purpose of the study are expected to provide some basic information on counseling, diagnosis and treatment planning for patients related to teeth care. A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 320 subjects in Seoul and Gyeonggi from May to August, 2015 after permission from Institutional Review Board (IRB). Except 18 copies, 302 data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 19.0 program. The questionnaire consisted of four questions of the general characteristics of the subjects, ten questions of the awareness toward of subjective teeth, five questions of the influence of teeth on appearance, and ten questions of self-esteem. The dependent variables made a 23.4% prediction of self-esteem. If they have higher education(p<0.001), influence of teeth on appearance(p<0.001) and the awareness toward of subjective teeth(p<0.001) had significant influence on self-esteem. The findings suggest that heightened subjective awareness toward teeth seems to be of use for the improvement of self-esteem. Therefore it's required to make an effort to take good care of teeth in terms of color or arrangement as well as oral health.

The purpose of this study was to examine the levels of the subjective oral health awareness of local residents in the city of Changwon and Haman county in an effort to lay the foundation for the development of customized local oral health education programs. The 2015 community health survey data were used, and the data from 864 residents in Changwon and from 719 dwellers in Haman county were analyzed. The Changwon residents brushed their teeth after lunch more, received more oral checkups over the past year and had more scaling experience. The Haman residents had more experience of not receiving dental treatment. The subjective health awareness, subjective oral health awareness, chewing difficulty and periodontal health of the Haman dwellers were all worse, and all the levels of awareness were lower among the respondents who were older and who were diagnosed with hypertension and/or diabetes. The respondents who made use of dentures and who didn't brush their teeth after lunch had experience of not receiving dental treatment, and all the levels of health-related awareness were lower among the respondents who didn't receive dental checkups nor had scaling experience. To remedy the situation, efforts should be made to prevent and manage chronic diseases, and the establishment of a system that guarantees regular dental checkups and scaling is required. And the kind of environments that everybody can receive dental treatment when they want should be prepared. In order to change negative awareness, necessary measures should be taken to provide oral health education that is not temporary but sustainable and tailored to local characteristics and different life stages.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of awareness of oral health on oral health status and oral health behavior with subjects of students in the middle school which is the important period when lifetime set of teeth is completed with eruption of the second molar tooth and complete set of permanent teeth, and provide the basic data for development of oral health program for adolescents. We examined oral condition and conducted the survey about students' awareness of oral health and behavior in the middle school located in JeonJu. As the results of oral examination, dental caries and malocclusion were higher in female students and periodontal disease was higher in male students (p < 0.038). There was no significant difference in awareness of oral health between male and female students. However, M = 4.08 out of 5 point scale, which was high. For oral health behaviors, female students (M = 4.508) was higher than male students (M = 4.257) in the question of 'I visit the dental office when my gums are bleeding'. Female students (M = 4.547) was higher than male students (M = 4.333) in the question of 'I use the dental floss after brushing my teeth'(p<0.05). Awareness of oral health gave the significant effect on the oral health behavior at 95 % confidence level. Therefore, the education for oral health behavior is required to improve oral health and studies are needed to present the development of program for awareness and knowledge of oral health affecting behavior.

Only 8% of parents knew that milk was the medium of choice for both washing and transporting an avulsed tooth. 76% of parents surveyed had never received advice in what to do in the event of an accident where a tooth was avulsed. This study revealed the need for educational campaigns aimed at parents to increase their knowledge of the emergency procedures required when a tooth is avulsed.
This research aims to investigate into company workers' general characteristics and their awareness of the hygiene of the mouth and practice of it, in order to prepare schemes to improve the hygiene of their mouth. The findings of the research are listed in the following: First, the workers have a high level of awareness of the effect of tooth-brushing to prevent periodontal diseases but a low degree of awareness of its effect to prevent decayed teeth and of the necessity of mouth hygienic supplies. Second, they have a high level of awareness of the necessity and importance of scaling, but most of them do not have their teeth scaled periodically. To repeat, they have a high level of awareness of the necessity of dental examination, but not many of them put such awareness of theirs into practice.
