Finite Element Analysis of TEE Forming for HDPE Pipe (HDPE 관의 TEE 성형에 대한 유한요소해석)

  • TEE Forming process for HDPE(High Density PolyEthylen) pipe has been analyzed by using rigid plastic finite element code, DEFORM-3D. TEE of HDPE pipes is necessary to connect main pipe with branch pipe and change the flow direction of hot water. A HDPE pipe is used as a insulator to maintain the temperature of hot water A butt welding process through TEE forming for a HDPE pipe is a updated process improving the strength of welding part compared to conventional extrusion welding process. The Experiment of Hot and Cold Forming have been performed. The design parameters such as a initial hole shape have been obtained through rigid-plastic finite element analysis, which is applied to the actual manufacturing process.

Multiple Regression Analysis for Piercing Punch Profile Optimization to Prevent Tearing During Tee Pipe Burring (다중 회귀 분석을 활용한 Tee-Pipe 버링 공정에서 찢어짐 방지를 위한 피어싱 펀치 형상 최적 설계)

  • A tee is the most common pipefitting used to combine or divide fluid flow. Tees can connect pipes of different diameters or change the direction of a pipe run. To manufacture tee type of stainless steel pipe, combinations of punch piercing and burr forming have been widely used in the industry. However, such method is considerably time consuming with regard to performing empirical work necessary to attain process conditions to prevent upper end tearing of the tee product and meet target tee height. Numerous experiments have shown that the piercing profile is the main cause of defects mentioned above. Furthermore, the mold design is formed through trial and error according to pipe diameters and changes in requirements. Thus, the objective of this study was to perform piercing and burring process analysis via finite element analysis using DYNAFORM to resolve problems mentioned above. An optimization design method was used to determine the piercing punch profile. Three radii of the piercing punch (i.e., large, small, and joined radii) were selected as design variables to minimize thinning of a tee pipe. Based on results of correlation and multiple regression analyses, we developed a predictive approximation model to satisfy requirements for both thickness reduction and target height. The new piercing punch profile was then applied to actual tee forming using the developed prediction equation. Model results were found to be in good agreement with experimental results.

Study on High-efficiency Hydraulic Filling Field Experiment for Subsidence Protection (지반침하 방지를 위한 고효율 수압식 충전 현장실험에 관한 연구)

  • Hydraulic filling methods are widely applied to suppress the land subsidence recently. But the research on high-efficiency hydraulic filling to protect the land subsidence is rare. In this study, field experiments to improve the efficiency of the hydraulic filling method are performed by changing the property, specification of the filling material and injection pipe. The filling amounts using vertical injection pipe, reducing tee (${\phi}100mm$) pipe, reducing tee (${\phi}80mm$) pipe and reducing tee (${\phi}50mm$) pipe showed 28.84 ton, 42.62 ton, 53.33 ton, and 63.33 ton respectively. The filling rates using reducing tee (${\phi}100mm$) pipe, reducing tee (${\phi}80mm$) pipe and reducing tee (${\phi}50mm$) pipe showed 47.8%, 84.9% and 119.6% respectively. Filling efficiency can be incresed by using reducing tee. This study shows that simply changing the type of injection pipe is expected to increase the hydraulic filling rate.

  • Upon installing a seismic isolation device on a nuclear power plant, the device takes on the suppression of seismic loads. This is expected to bring about a larger displacement than what is seen prior to the installation of the seismic isolation device. Depending on the displacement change, the seismic risk for some equipment can increase. Particularly in case of the piping system, which is used for connecting the structure isolated from seismic events with common structures, the seismic risk is expected to rise significantly. In this study, the limit state of the steel pipe tee, which is a vulnerability part of the nuclear power plant piping system, was defined as leakage, and an in-plane cyclic loading test was conducted. As it is difficult to measure the moment and rotation of the steel pipe tee using the conventional sensors, an image signal was used. This study proposed a leakage line and low-cycle fatigue curves using the relationship between the moment and the rotation of a 3-inch steel pipe tee.

A Study on High Cycle Temperature Fluctuation Caused by Thermal Striping in a Mixing Tee Pipe (혼합배관 내의 열 경계층 이동으로 인한 고주기 온도요동에 관한 연구)

  • Fluid temperature fluctuations in a mixing tee pipe were numerically analyzed by LES model in order to clarify internal turbulent flows and to develope an evaluation method for high-cycle thermal fatigue. Hot and cold water with an temperature difference $40^{\circ}C$ were supplied to the mixing tee. Fluid temperature fluctuations in a mixing tee pipe is analysed by using the computational fluid dynamics code, FLUENT, Temperature fluctuations of the fluid and pipe wall measured as the velocity ratio of the flow in the branch pipe to that in the main pipe was varied from 0.05 to 5.0. The power spectrum method was used to evaluate the heat transfer coefficient. The fluid temperature characteristics were dependent on the velocity ratio, rather than the absolute value of the flow velocity. Large fluid temperature fluctuations were occurred near the mixing tee, and the fluctuation temperature frequency was random. The ratios of the measured heat transfer coefficient to that evaluated by Dittus-Boelter's empirical equation were independent of the velocity ratio, The multiplier ratios were about from 4 to 6.

  • Maintaining structural integrity of major apparatuses in a nuclear power plant, including piping system, is recognized as a critical safety issue. The integrity of piping system is also a critical matter related to the safety of a nuclear power plant. The actual failure mode of a piping system due to a seismic load is the leakage due to a fatigue crack, and the structural damage mechanism is the low-cycle fatigue due to large relative displacement that may cause plastic deformation. In this study, in-plane cyclic loading tests were conducted under various constant amplitudes using specimens composed of steel straight pipes and a steel pipe tee in the piping system of a nuclear power plant. The loading amplitude was increased to consider the relative displacement generated in the piping system under seismic loads, and the test was conducted until leakage, which is the limit state of the steel pipe tee, occurred due to fatigue cracks. The limit state of the steel pipe tee was expressed using a damage model based on the damage index that used the force-displacement relationship. As a result, it was confirmed that the limit state of the steel pipe tee can be quantitatively expressed using the damage index.

  • 지금까지 생성문법에서 제시한 문법의 구조는 대체적으로 3개부 (components)가 T자 형으로 배치되어 있으며 이러한 구조는 주로 언어능력을 위한 것으로 여겨져 왔다. 본고는 언어수행도 동시에 -- 특히 화자의 환류 (feedback)와 청자의 지각의 면에서 -- 처리할 수 있고 또 각부 사이의 기능을 자연스럽게 연계하여 주는 interface 기능을 위하여, 보다 타당성 있는 새로운 모델로 Pipe 형 (또는 종합형)을 제시하고자 한다.

Characteristics of Multipath Ultrasonic Flowmeter Installed Upstream and Downstream of Flow Disturbance Factors-Contraction, Expansion, and Tee Pipe (유동교란인자(축소·확대관, Tee관)상하류에 설치된 다회선초음파 유량계의 특성)

  • Multipath ultrasonic flowmeters are increasingly being used for the purpose of accurate flow measurement. However, an installation standard has not yet been established for these flowmeters, and this can cause considerable confusion during field installation. There is a need for a minimum straight run to ensure the measurement accuracy of a flowmeter installed upstream and downstream of flow disturbance factors-expansion, contraction, and tee pipes. Experiments were performed by using multipath flowmeters that have less than ${\pm}0.5%$ accuracy-4-paths 1-unit and 2-paths 1-unit are of foreign make, whereas 5-paths 2-units are of domestic make-to determine the straight run under the above conditions. We carried out experiments repeatedly by considering a straight run, velocity, and suggested installation standards for a multipath ultrasonic flowmeter that satisfies the tolerance limits.

Identification on a Local Wall Thinning by Flow Acceleration Corrosion Inside Tee of Carbon Steel Pipe (탄소강 배관 티에서의 유동가속부식으로 인한 감육 현상 규명)

  • When pipe components made of carbon steel in nuclear, fossil, and industry plants are exposed to flowing fluid, wall thinning caused by FAC(flow accelerated corrosion) can be generated and eventually ruptured at the position of pressure boundary. The aim of this study is to identify the locations at which local wall thinning occurs and to determine the turbulence coefficient related to local wall thinning. Experiment and numerical analyses for the tee sections of down scaled piping components were performed and the results were compared. In particular, flow visualization experiment which was used alkali metallic salt was performed to find actual location of local wall thinning inside tee components. In order to determine the relationship between turbulence coefficients and local wall thinning, numerical analyses were performed for tee components in the main feedwater systems. The turbulence coefficients based on the numerical analyses were compared with the local wall thinning based on the measured data. From the comparison of the results, the vertical flow velocity component(Vr) flowing to the wall after separating in the wall due to the geometrical configuration and colliding with the wall directly at an angle of some degree was analogous to the configuration of local wall thinning.
