  • This paper proposes an R&D project selection methodology for green technology centered on developing country-oriented technology commercialization. Eight selection criteria are derived from the R&BD logic model : technology needs of developing countries, effectiveness of green technology, technological potentials, domestic technological capability, commercialization feasibility, economic benefits, business feasibility, and spillover effects of developing countries. 21 qualitative and quantitative indicators are then defined for each criterion. The analytic hierarchy process is conducted to produce relative importance of evaluation indicators and to set final priority scores of R&D project candidates. The working of the proposed methodology is provided with the help of a case study example of Green Technology Center. The proposed methodology is expected to be effectively utilized for policy practices of R&D project selection in the field of green technology.

  • ERP is the key-enabler of enterprise's informatization. Seletion of a right ERP system is one of the critical issues. Previous study shows that since a very few methodologies of selecting ERP systems are provided, most of companies have difficulty in Implementing ERP system. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of ERP system selection factors and develop the ERP evaluation methodology An empirical study is performed and shows that there are signigicant differences in ERP selection factors among ERP consultant, ERP developer, and system manager. The result shows that five factors such as general characteristics of software and supplier, technology characteristics of software and supplier, and Project management shills are significant. Based on the five factors, the evaluation methodology is developed. The methodology will help enterprises to make better decision in selecting ERP systems.

  • Ubiquitous Smart Space(USS) like u-City has been expected to create a high added value. However, developing USS has a high risk because it should use future technologies and development methodologies that have been never tried in the past. Hence, it has to be considered thoroughly in the very first stage of development. Moreover, USS usually uses several ubiquitous computing technologies combinationally because of the nature of USS. Despite of this, existing technology selection methodologies or technology evaluation methodologies only focus on a single technology. This leads us to develop a methodology of optimal technology combination for developing a specific USS. The purpose of this paper is to propose the methodology and to apply it to develop a real USS. We use portfolio theory and constraint satisfaction problem to determine an optimal technology combination. We also apply our methodology to the national ubiquitous computing project which carries out at present to validate it.

  • Factory location selection is very important to the success of operation of the whole supply chain, but few effective solutions exist to deliver a good result, motivated by this, this paper tries to introduce a new factory location selection methodology by employing the artificial neural networks technology. First, we reviewed previous research related to factory location selection problems, and then developed a (neural network-based factory selection model) NNFSM which adopted back-propagation neural network theory, next, we developed computer program using C++ to demonstrate our proposed model. then we did case study by choosing a Korean steelmaking company P to show how our proposed model works,. Finnaly, we concluded by highlighting the key contributions of this paper and pointing out the limitations and future research directions of this paper. Compared to other traditional factory location selection methods, our proposed model is time-saving; more efficient.and can produce a much better result.

  • For system maintenance optimization, it is necessary to establish a state information system by CBM+ including CBM and RCM, and sensor selection for CBM+ application requires system process for function model analysis at the early design stage. The study investigated the contents of CBM and CBM+, analyzed the function analysis tasks and procedures of the system, and thus presented a D-FMEA based sensor selection inference methodology at the early stage of design for CBM+ application, and established it as a D-FMEA based sensor selection inference process. The D-FMEA-based sensor inference methodology and procedure in the early design stage were presented for diesel engine sub assembly.

  • As software projects become larger and more complex, we need to take a more systematic approach to quality assurance. One plausible approach is the use of SQA (software quality assurance) methodology. Since this SQA methodology was not available, our study presents a SQA methodology. This methodology has a repository in which a set of quality assurance tasks with their related techniques and deliverables is defined and from which one can select only appropriate tasks based upon characteristics of project. This study further suggests a rule-based approach for supporting task selection process.

  • The technique of serological analysis of antigens by recombinant cDNA expression library (SEREX) uses autologous patient sera as a screening probe to isolate tumor-associated antigens for various tumor types. Isolation of tumor-associated antigens that are specifically reactive with patient sera, but not with normal sera, is important to avoid false-positive and autoimmunogenic antigens for the cancer immunotherapy. Here, we describe a selection methodology to isolate patient sera-specific antigens from a yeast surface-expressed cDNA library constructed from 15 patient lung tissues with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Several rounds of positive selection using patient sera alone as a screening probe isolated clones exhibiting comparable reactivity with both patient and normal sera. However, the combination of negative selection with allogeneic normal sera to remove antigens reactive with normal sera and subsequent positive selection with patient sera efficiently enriched patient sera-specific antigens. Using the selection methodology described here, we isolated 3 known and 5 unknown proteins, which have not been isolated previously, but and potentially associated with NSCLC.

  • The effectiveness of software error compensation for thermally induced machine tool errors relies on the prediction accuracy of the pre-established thermal error models. The selection of optimal sensor locations is the most important in establishing these empirical models. In this paper, a methodology for the selection of optimal sensor locations is proposed to establish a robust linear model which is not subjected to collinearity. Correlation coefficient and time delay are used as thermal parameters for optimal sensor location. Firstly, thermal deformation and temperatures are measured with machine tools being excited by sinusoidal heat input. And then, after correlation coefficient and time delays are calculated from the measured data, the optimal sensor location is selected through hard c-means clustering and sequential selection method. The validity of the proposed methodology is verified through the estimation of thermal expansion along Z-axis by spindle rotation.

  • This study aims to suggest a evaluation methodology of cyber-education. In spite of rapid development of information technology for cyber-education, there are few research of evaluation methodology in cyber-education environment, we suggest a definition of criteria and a methodology of system solution selection for cyber-education system. Considering an interdependent relationship among criteria, we shows a process of an evaluation method or a selection method for evaluation of cyber-education system solution through an example.

  • The AHP is a good methodology for the multicriterion decision-making process such as nuclear fuel cycle technology selection, which requires consideration of international circumstances, social factors, economic factors as well as technological factors. This paper presents the prioritization of technologies using AHP at back-end fuel cycle development strategy and it would be useful for the national nuclear development planners.
