  • Self-service technologies (SST) are rapidly changing the way customers participate in the purchasing process. Academic literature has focused on the acceptance of SSTs. However, this study explored consumer's cognitive response and purchase intentions through service qualities of SST as well as how they are moderated by technology anxiety and other people's presence based on TAM3. An online survey collected 279 consumer panels. All responses were used for the analysis and analyzed statistically through SPSS 23.0. The results indicate that only enjoyment and control had a significant effect on warmth perception; however, all service qualities had significant effects on competence perception. The perceived warmth and perceived competence partially mediated the relationship between SST service qualities and purchase intention. The moderating effect of technical anxiety was shown to be significant in the relationship between perceived competence and purchase intention. In addition, technology anxiety had a moderating effect on the relationship between competence perception and purchase intention only in a public situation.

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is effective for people with an addiction tendency. This study aims to implement a CBT program for college students at high risk of smartphone addiction and investigate the impact of the program on their desire to use a smartphone, depression, impulsivity, and anxiety. Baseline/post-intervention evaluation and the ABA' single-case experimental design were used. The study consisted of the baseline phase (A), pre-evaluation, intervention phase (B), post-evaluation, and baseline phase (A'). Six participants were enrolled, and the main outcome variables were daily changes in the desire to use a smartphone and changes in depression, impulsivity, and anxiety after the program. Prior to the intervention, all six participants had mild to moderate depression, but after the intervention, three were normal, two had mild depression, and only one had moderate depression. Impulsivity and anxiety scores decreased after the intervention, with anxiety scores showing the most dramatic change. The percentage of non-overlapping data for the baseline phase (A)-intervention phase (B) was more than 75% and that for baseline phase (A)-baseline phase (A') was 100% for all 6 participants. This study presented a good protocol for people with low access to psychological therapy. We expect the findings will be highly useful for people suffering from psychological difficulties due to smartphone addiction.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of guided imagery on stress, state anxiety, test anxiety and core basic nursing skill performance score of undergraduate nursing student. Methods: An equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was utilized. A total of 45 senior nursing students were randomly assigned to either an intervention group to receive guided imagery, or a control group (experimental group=23 students, control group=22 students). The guided imagery was provided via audio files to the intervention group for eight minutes, once a day for five days. The pretest was given before the intervention to measure variables for both groups, and the posttest was performed immediately afterward and three days after the intervention. Results: Significant differences were found between the two groups in stress ((F=4.94, p=.012), state anxiety (F=5.99, p=.005), and basic core nursing skill performance scores (Z=-2.45, p=.015). Conclusion: Guided imagery for nursing students has been identified as effective for stress, state anxiety, and basic core nursing skill performance scores. Guided imagery can be used as an effective intervention before performance tests. These study results can provide useful data for nursing education.

Methods: A questionnaire survey on depression and anxiety was conducted on 189 dental hygienists from dental hospitals and clinics in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area. Results: The overall prevalence of depression was 69.8% and that of anxiety was 53.4%. The aspect of depression was heavily influenced by past experience with COVID-19 related quarantine and contact with a confirmed patient. The prolonged pandemic was observed to have exerted a greater impact on depression and anxiety (p<0.05). Conclusions: Depression and anxiety seem to be related to COVID-19 related factors among dental hygienists. Dental hospitals and clinics should monitor the level of depression and anxiety of dental hygienists who are at an elevated risk of COVID-19.
