중소벤처기업의 기술혁신역량, 협업, 신제품개발성과 간의 구조적 관계 분석 (An Analysis of Structural Relationship between Technological Innovation Capability, Collaboration and New Product Development Performance in Small & Mid-sized Venture Companies)

  • 본 연구에서는 중소벤처기업의 기술혁신역량과 신제품개발성과가 상호 인과관계가 있음을 밝히고, 기술혁신역량을 강화하기 위한 수단으로 협업을 도입하면 신제품개발성과가 향상됨을 규명하였다. 연구방법으로는 국내 소재 중소벤처기업 R&D업무에 종사하는 실무담당자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 중소 벤처기업의 기술혁신역량에 속하는 기술전략, 기술학습, 그리고 개방형 혁신이 신제품개발성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 신제품개발성과에 미치는 다수의 핵심전략으로서 협업을 선택한 결과, 협업이 신제품개발성과에 영향을 주는 전략임을 규명하였다. 아울러 협업을 도입하면 기술혁신역량이 신제품개발성과를 강화하는데 조절역할을 하는 지도 함께 살펴보았는데, 일반적인 협업은 기술전략 강화에는 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않지만, 협업에 따라서는 기술전략과 개방형 혁신이 강화되어 신제품개발성과의 크기에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 평가되었다.

  • 전통적 혁신 이론에서 과학과 기술은 공공재와 지식으로 다루어지며, 이러한 관점은 선형모델과 기술 결정론을 자연스럽게 도출시킨다. 그러나 과학과 기술을 새롭게 규정하는 신혁신 이론에서는 기술의 사회적 형성을 강조하며, 선형 모델에서 탈피하여 혁신과정의 상호작용, 네트워크, 시스템 측면을 포섭하고 있다.

Relationship between Ambidexterity Learning and Innovation Performance: The Moderating Effect of Redundant Resources

  • Researchers have confirmed the relationship between ambidexterity learning and innovation performance, but according to the resource-based theory, the relationship between ambidexterity learning and innovation performance is also affected by the internal resources of the organization. Internal resources are an important factor affecting the transformation of learning outcomes into performance. In addition, few scholars have pointed out whether different types of learning have different effects on different types of innovation performance. This study collects data from 170 High-tech enterprises in Shandong, china, and discusses the effects of exploitative learning and explorative learning on management innovation performance and technological innovation performance. This study further examines the moderating role of slack resource on the relationship between ambidexterity learning and innovation performance. Results show that ambidexterity learning has positive effect on innovation performance. Compared with exploitative learning, explorative learning has a greater impact on management innovation performance; compared with explorative learning, exploitative learning has a greater impact on technological innovation performances. Slack resource has positive moderating role between the relationship of exploitative learning, explorative learning and technology innovation performance. But Slack resource has no moderating role between the relationship of exploitative learning, explorative learning and management innovation performance.

기술 및 수요속성에 따른 정보통신서비스 확산 패턴

  • Since technological innovation, adoption, and diffusion is a fundamental engine for a company's competitiveness and in turn a nation's industrial development, diffusion of technological innovation has been one of popular research themes to many researchers and scholars for decades. Especially, in today's knowledge-based economy, the IT technology became a fundamental infrastructure for a nation and thus their impact on a nation's economy has grown to be tremendous. This paper investigates the patterns of technological diffusion of 16 telecommunications services. Firstly, we identify the optimal diffusion model which represents the 15 IT innovation best in terms of goodness-of-fit. Secondly, based on the best model identified we cluster the 16 IT innovations according to their diffusion characteristics such as penetration rate and diffusion speed. Lastly, we categorize the innovations in terms of technology (voice-based innovation and data-based innovation) and demand (household-use and business-use) attributes, and compare their diffusion patterns and found some meaningful difference in diffusion patterns. We hope the result helpful to corporate managers as well as policy makers in relevant areas.

기술혁신에서의 위기의 역할과 과정 : CDMA기술개발 사례연구 (The Role of Crisis in Technological Innovation : Case Study)

  • This study aims at analysing the role of crisis in the technological innovation. It has been taken for granted that organizational crisis has detrimental effects on the survival of organizations. But recent studies showed that organizational crisis has positive effects on organizational learning. They argued that crisis would provide a opportunities for reflecting the effectiveness of existing organizational routine. This study analyses the process and role of crisis in the development of CDMA mobile communication system and argues that crisis has effects on technological innovation when organizations have prior knowledge base which can be exploited in organizational learning. Secondly, it is argued that crisis can result in organizational transformation which facilitates organizational learning by integrating prior knowledge base and new knowledge. Thirdly, it is suggested that crisis may be good facilitator for organizational learning in case of competence-enhancing innovation rather than competence-destroying innovation.

  • Though it has been recognized that the accumulation of technological knowledge has been the core competency to reinforce the competitiveness of individual firms and to raise the innovation capability of social and economic systems, only single or fragmentary variables, such as R&D expenditure, R&D stock, the number of researchers and the number of R&D employee have been adopted to measure the amount of technological knowledge. In this research, we use nine conventional technological knowledge measures under the conceptual structure of input-output framework to technological knowledge. Applying correlation and factor analysis, we examine the relationships among the nine proxy measures quantitatively and suggest the new approach for the calculation of technological knowledge index as a aggregated measure.

  • This study examines the changing patterns of technological cooperation activities along technological development stages. Based on the longitudinal sample of 58 small and medium-sized companies in telecommunication equipment and device sectors, proposed hypotheses are tested using paired comparison t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. Major findings of this study are as follows. Along technological development stages, (1) patterns of technological cooperation activities differ in terms of the extent and diversity of use, partners, method, and motivation and (2) the impact of specific forms of technological cooperation activities on the firm's technological innovation varies. In addition, some managerial and policy implications are presented and future research directions are suggested.

중소기업의 기술혁신역량과 혁신성과의 관계: 성장단계별 차이 (A Relationship between Innovation Capability and Performance: Differences in Firm Development Stages)

  • 중소기업들은 기술혁신과 기술혁신역량 확보를 통해 불리한 자원규모나 경쟁여건을 극복하고 경쟁우위를 확보하기 위해 노력한다. 기존 연구들은 총체적인 기술혁신역량이나 특정 기술혁신역량 차원들에 초점을 두고 각 혁신역량과 성과간의 관계를 살펴보고 있다. 반면 성장단계별 기술혁신역량의 상대적 중요성이나 성과 영향의 차이와 같은 동태적 특성에 대한 관심은 미흡했다. 본 연구는 중소기업 기술혁신역량과 성과간의 성장단계별 차이를 실증적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 국내 중소제조기업들에 대한 설문조사 분석결과, 중소기업 기술혁신역량의 모든 세부 차원들은 혁신성과에 정의 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 성장단계별로는 기술혁신역량의 세부 차원별로 혁신성과에 상이한 영향관계를 보여준다. 기획역량은 성장기와 성숙기에서 혁신성과를 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다. 제조역량은 성숙기에서 혁신성과를 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다. 신제품개발역량과 사업화 역량은 모든 성장단계에서 혁신성과를 높이는데 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 중소기업들의 성장단계에 따라 실무적 기술혁신역량 강화를 위한 가이드라인을 제시한다. 또한 성장단계별 정책적 지원프로그램 설계와 운영을 위한 시사점을 제공한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 연구한계 및 향후 연구과제들을 제시했다.

  • Innovation with strategic interaction is to overcome the technological uncertainty and to create co-evolution through competition among individuals or organizations for the acceleration of innovation. The concept of innovation in the past was concentrated on cooperation rather than on competition for the efficient management of limited resources. However, in order to minimize the technological uncertainty, we need an innovation on the basis of competition between organizations. Competition stimulates technological adaptability. It is on the analogy of complex system. This is to satisfy consumers' needs, to transform the resources into a technology, and to apply for the development of new products and new technologies. If the emergence of a new technology threatens present technology and develops into a new level of technology through inter-relation, it becomes a mutually supporting technologies. When theses effects are simultaneously realized, it is possible for firm to have strategical innovation and to create a mutually evolutionary development. Furthermore, when the competition among more than two individuals or two organizations continues towards the same direction, the mutual competition and cooperation can be expected to create a synergy effect. The competitive environment should be composed of R&D, production, and consumers' choice. This will lead to interaction among organizations through strategic competition and cooperation. Intra-firm competition and Inter-firm competition are required to exist together.

외부 R&D가 혁신 효율성에 미치는 영향 분석 : 국내 제조 산업을 중심으로 (The Effect of External R&D on the Innovation Efficiency : An Empirical Study of Manufacturing Industries in Korea)

  • The external R&D, which includes the adoption of the external technology and knowledge in addition to the internal R&D, is one of important factors for the innovation. Especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the external R&D has been considered as a key factor to carry out the innovation more efficiently due to the limitations of their resources and capacities. However, most of extant studies related to external R&D have focused on analyzing the influence of external R&D on innovation outputs or outcomes. Only a few studies have explored the impact of external R&D on the innovation efficiency. This study therefore investigates whether the external R&D effects the industry's innovation efficiency and productivity. On this study, we used Korean manufacturing industry data of SMEs from 2012 to 2014 and employed a global Malmquist productivity analysis technique, which is based on the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), to assess the innovation efficiency and productivity. Innovation performances of external R&D group and internal R&D group are compared. Then, the sectoral patterns of both innovation efficiency and productivity are analyzed with respect to the technological intensity, which is introduced by OECD. The results show that the gap of innovation efficiency between external and internal R&D groups has gradually decreased because of the continuous improvement of the external R&D group's performance, while the external R&D group lag behind the internal R&D group. In addition, patterns of the innovation efficiency and productivity change were different depending on the technological intensity, which means that the higher the technological intensity, the greater the effect of external R&D.
