  • In this work the Model algorithmic control method is applied to control the grade change operations in paper mills. The neural network model for the grade change operations is identified first model is then extracted from the neural model. Results of simulations for MAC control of grade change operations are compared with plant operation data response. From the comparison, we can see that the proposed MAC method exhibits faster response for the grade change of paper and achieves stable steady-state.

  • Identification of dynamics of short circulation during grade change operations in paper mills is very important for the effective plant operation. In the present study a prediction method of One Pass Retention(OPR) is proposed based on the neural network. The present method is used to analyze the dynamics of short circulation during grade change. Properties of the product paper largely depend upon the change in the OPR. In the present study the OPR is predicted from the training of the network by using grade change operation data. The results of the prediction are applied to the modeling equation to give flow rates and consistencies of short circulation.

  • The grade change operations In paper mills exhibit inherent nonlinear dynamic characteristics. For this reason, the conventional model predictive control techniques based on linear process models are not adequate for the grade change operations. In this paper, a bilinear model for the nonlinear grade change processes was presented first and optimal input variables were calculated by using one-step-ahead predictive control method. Numerical simulations showed that the control performance lied within acceptable range and that the bilinear model predictive control scheme was highly promising control strategy for the grade change operations.

  • In the grade change operations inputs and outputs are highly correlated and application of conventional linear feedback control methods such as PID schemes might lead to poor control performance. In this study the neural networks model for the grade change operation is trained by using bilinear terms which can represent non-linear characteristics of grade change operations. The inverse model of the grade change operation is obtained from training and the optimal input variables are computed from the trained neural networks as well. The proposed bilinear inverse model predictive control scheme was found out to showlittle discrepancy between simulated outputs and setpoints.

  • In this research, the world top steel companies' technical changes were measured by the nonparametric Malmquist index. Steel industry's production frontier which was composed of multiple inputs and multiple outputs was defined by using real data of the companies from 1986 to 1998, and then the variability of technical progress(or regress) was analyzed during that period. The dynamics of individual steel companies\` technical changes, periodical technical changes, and each country's technical chanties were explained. A matrix which was based on technical chanties, technical efficiency changes, and scale efficiency changes was designed to assist to find out current position and In build up future strategies. This research results will be an valuable input to the early stage of formulating competitive strategy because the technical core capability is an important source of the each companies's competitiveness.

Study on climate change response of small island groundwater resources

  • Many small island nations rely on groundwater as their only other source of freshwater in addition to rainwater harvesting. The volume of groundwater resource of small island nations are further limited by their smaller surface area and specific hydrogeology. The rapid growth of population and tourism has led to increasing water demands and pollution of available groundwater resources. The predicted climate change effects pose significant threats to the already vulnerable freshwater lens of small islands in the form of rise in sea level, coastal inundation, saltwater intrusion, varied pattern of precipitation leading to droughts and storm surges. The effects of climate change are further aggravated by manmade stresses like increased pumping. Thus small island water resources are highly threatened under the effects of climate change. But due to the limited technical and financial capacity most of the small island developing states were unable to conduct detailed technical investigations on the effects of climate change on their water resources. In this study, we investigate how well small island countries are preparing for climate change. The current state of freshwater resources, impacts of predicted climate change along with adaptation and management strategies planned and implemented by small island countries are reviewed. Proper assessment and management practices can aid in sustaining the groundwater resources of small islands under climate change.

It is on urgent business for an enterprise or a preson to get proper information in modern information flood. To come up with the developed countinues it need to estimate the current world economice condition and to investigate the world economice circumstances. By this investigation we can establish a strategy to get necessary information. Information management will be needed to deal with the flooding new infermations.

  • 미래 핵심인 SW산업의 국제 경쟁력 확보를 위하여, SW 분야의 세계적인 기술변화에 대응하고 향후 SW 산업의 분석 및 설계를 주도할 아키텍트 수준의 SW 기술 인력 양성이 요구된다. 그러나 현재의 상황은 일정 수준의 경력에 따른 SW 기술 인력이 일반관리자로 전직하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 이러한 현실을 해결하고 SW 기술 인력의 질적 수준을 제고하기 위해서 국내 SW 기술 인력의 체계적이고 효과적인 성장방향을 제시하는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 국내 SW 기술 인력의 체계적이고 효과적인 성장방향을 제시하면서, 고급 SW 분석/설계 인력의 경력 경로를 제시하며 이를 실현할 수 있는 방만을 제시하고자 한다.
