A method of multidisciplinary education has been implemented for satellite design, based on HAUSAT-1 and 2 ultra-small satellite development projects, in order to provide practical knowledge and experience to students studying satellite engineering. HAUSAT-1 was the nation's first 1kg-class ultra-small satellite. HAUSAT-2 nano-satellite is currently under a Proto-Flight Model development. These design projects make it possible to achieve the goal of science and technical research, which is representative of a university function, and the goal of molding professionals through providing an integrated function of system design education. An integrated system design, like satellite system, provides all participating students with an opportunity to directly/indirectly experience the entire system development process and encourage growth of multidisciplinary system education that has lately become an important issue.

The problem of fault current to exceed the rated capacity of a power circuit breaker can cause a serious accident to hurt the reliability of the power system. In order to solve this issue, current limiting reactors and circuit breakers with increased capacity are utilized but these solutions have some technical limitations. Back-to-back high voltage direct current(BTB HVDC) may be applied for reducing the fault current. When BTB HVDCs are installed for reduction in fault current, selecting the optimal location of the BTB HVDC without causing overload of line power becomes a key point. In this paper, we use genetic algorithm to find optimal location effectively in a short time. We propose a new methodology for determining the BTB HVDC optimal location to reduce fault current without causing overload of line power in metropolitan areas. Also, the procedure of performing the calculation of fault current and line power flow by PSS/E is carried out automatically using Python. It is shown that this optimization methodology can be applied effectively for determining the BTB HVDC optimal location to reduce fault current without causing overload of line power by a case study.
With the increasing demands of information sharing and searches via the web, the web search engine has drawn much attention. Although many researches have been done to solve technical challenges to build the web search engine, the issue regarding its query processing system is rarely dealt with. Since the software architecture and operational schemes of the query processing system are hard to elaborate, we here present related techniques implemented on a commercial system. The implemented system is a very large-scale system that can process 5-million user queries per day by using index files built on about 65-million web pages. We implement a multi-level cache scheme to save already returned query results for performance considerations, and the multi-level cache is managed in 4-level cache storage areas. Using the multi-level cache, we can improve the system throughput by a factor of 4, thereby reducing around 70% of the server cost.

Cleanout of the F Reactor Fuel Storage Basin (FSB) is an element of the FSB decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) and is required to complete interim safe storage (ISS) of the F Reactor. Following reactor shutdown and in preparation for a deactivation layaway action in 1970, the water level in the FReactor FSB was reduced to approximately 0.6 m (2 ft) over t]to floor. Basin components and other miscellaneous items were left or placed in the FSB. The item placement was performed with a sense of finality, and no attempt was made to place the items in an orderly manner. The F Reactor FSB was then filled to grade level with 6(20of local surface material (essentially a fine sand). The reactor FSB backfill cleanout has the potential of having to remove spent nuclear fuel (SNF) that may have been left unintentionally. Based on previous cleanout of six water-filled FSBs with similar designs (i.e., the B, C, D, and DR FSBs in the 1980's), it was estimated that up to five SNF elements could be discovered in the F FSB (I). In reality about 17 full SNF elements were found in the excavation. This paper covers the technical and programmatic challenges of performing this decommissioning effort with some of the controls used for SNF management. The paper also will highlight how many various technologies were married into a complete package to address the issue at hand and show how no one tools could complete the job, but combined, good progress is being made.
To provide context aware service, certain phenomena and situation information of the user should be detecting and monitoring using sensors. But, the sensor data has heterogeneity about system, syntax, structure, and semantics. So, it is difficult to apply to various services. To solve this issue, we should remove these heterogeneities and convert to context information that is easy to provide context aware services. Also, the existing context aware service mash-up environment require relevant sensor type, criteria of context, programing ability to define the service situation. So, it is difficult to create service for a non-technical user. Therefore, we propose ontology based user-centric service environment to provide context aware IoT services. It provide context awareness and user-desired services using data that acquired via IoT paradigm. The proposed environment consist of the ontology based semantic sensor data processing and the user-centric service environment. It provide convert the object data to the context information and service mash-up process to create user service in easy way.

East Parts of Bangladesh have been benifited by low cost energy generated by domestic natural gas but West parts where energy generated by imported fuel. Bangladesh Government authority has very much concerned to transmit the low cost electricity to the West from the East for past several years. To solve such concerns, cross-country 230kv double circuits Power transmission line was proposed, however there was a big obstacle for the realization of this line to cross the Jamuna river which has 12 km long width with a deep muddy river bed. A consultant engineering firm named Merz-Mclellan anyway finalized this plan and a world-wide bid was announced on June 31, 1979. Due to the expected difficulty to construct the towers on sea like area, only three construction groups have participated. including a Korean joint venture organization of Samsung-Korean Developement corporation-Kolon Electric Machinery company. After 3 months bid evaluation, contract was awarded to Korean Consosium and KEM Co was in charge of designing steel towers with anchor bolts and base plates beside to electrical engineering field. Then KEM Co have faced and over-comed many unenpected technical difficulties such as forced eccentricity joint on base plate, distorsion issue of 60mm thick plates welding, threading anchor bolts, tad heat treatment of some anchor bolts, disagreement from Consultant Engineer on multiplying factor of leg stresses for 45$^{\circ}$ wind and on reducing O.L.F for wind loads on cables for such 1220km long spans. After spending two years long period for designing and engineering towers, base plates, and anchor bolts, first shipment of tower was finally realized on Nov. 8, 1981 and on the other hand KDD has proceeded concrete caisson work on schedule at Jamuna river site and expected to complete tower erection and stringing of cables within this year of 1982 which was original completion target.
It has been 1 year since Sewol Ferry disaster occurred in the Gwanmaedo sea of Jindo, Jeollanamdo, on Apr. 16, 2014. The Sewol Ferry Disaster which took 304 lives and had some victims still missed has become the largest tragic accident in Korea since 2010. Although one year has passed since the disaster, there is no psychological communication research on the trauma of the victims' families. This study first investigated the actual state of the Sewol Ferry victims' parents suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after their losses of children by the disaster. This study revealed that the victims' families suffer from physical and psychological the PTSD but neglect treatment. The PTSD still influences their daily life. It was observed that the victims' families have a lot of difficulties with interpersonal relationship, relationship with co-workers, residence, values, and other kinds of daily life. Given that the victims' families have a great deal of PTSD after the disaster, the academic circle needs to make discussions of the issue actively in order to heal the pains of the Sewol Ferry victims' families who are unattended in our society.
Since most construction workers comprehend information on work through sight, the importance of safety signs are increasing by the day. In Korea, due to the sharp economic progress and the higher standard of the workforce, since the end of 1980, each year the number of foreign workers entering the country who working simple technical jobs have increased this condition. This study researched safety signs, which are the final accident prevention measures at the workplace. Based on the study, comprehension of the standard safety signs of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) was lacking at a level of 2.5. Also, the perception level of the Industry Public Safety Law (38%) was very low. And, it was found that sex and experience or non-experience in safety training was not an issue in the level of understanding. However, when satisfying the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and changing the safety signs, the level of understanding went up to 3.49 and the perception level was increased significantly to 70%. Thus, it is concluded that, since the foreign workers are mainly from non-English speaking countries and because the workers of Korea are not familiar with English, in order to provide proper safety information, there must first of all be simplistic and concise pictograms. This will provide needed information and must be coupled with simple English words that can give additional information to the worker and be effective in helping him understand and perceive the safety sign. Also, it has been determined that the existing forms of safety signs and their effectiveness in industry accident prevention must be reassessed.
This study tried to examine the validity of the technical and institutional method to perform the purpose of public interest in terrestrial broadcasting. For this purpose, this study concentrated to the rate of direct reception of the terrestrial broadcasting that government and broadcasting company have offered since the digital transition. Results of analysis, it appeared that have not possibility of realization to set the direct receiving antenna and built-in Antenna for enhanced reception of the signal of the terrestrial broadcasting. Second, the MMS, if not enhanced the direct reception, was expected that repeated the retransmission through the pay broadcasting as the time of digital transition. Finally, the disaster broadcast was revealed that reduce the effectiveness of the UHD TV policy because of the mutual interference between frequencies and the incomplete solution of shadow area. According to these results, it is expected to be difficult for a while to perform the purpose of public interest in UHD TV.
Unlike in the past, where the expression of the form was given a priority, with the widening of the scopes of the designs, the proportion of design education institution curricula targeting user experience and the application of technology is continually and gradually increasing. Open source microcontroller boards such as Arduino have initiated attracting attention as a countermeasure against these changes. These prototyping tools have many advantages for the diversification of expression and design verification in the design field and therefore have a high likelihood of being introduced into many design education institutes; however, the tools act as high entry barriers for design students who lack engineering knowledge. Although various educational content and tools have been developed to address the issue of barrier, existing solutions remain insufficient as alternatives for the purpose of activation. In this study, we investigated the present state of related education content and conducted a pilot workshop using a prototype microcontroller board with simplified coding. We intend to use the results of this investigation to develop study material for design education. We started by conducting a survey regarding the pre-university education situation. It was observed that engineering education opportunities are insufficient and the problem of mutual application between educations due to course-based education was not realized. We also analyzed the characteristics of simplified training tools using the microcontroller to establish a direction for educational design and conducted a pilot workshop using the microcontroller toolkit with a simplified coding process based on this content. Students who lack a basic knowledge of engineering technology received instruction, and after completing minimum preliminary training, they proceeded to practical exercises that involved utilizing the toolkit. Through this process, we identified the need for a simple-type microcontroller board with low-complexity for use in educating students majoring in design. We also identified some obstacles that serve as barriers to entry of utilizing microcontroller board. Based on these results, we propose several functional requirements and teaching guidelines for prototyping toolkits for design education.
