A Study on Design Preference about Traditional Feminine Head Ornament for Development of Fashion Cultural Products (패션문화상품 개발을 위한 전통 여성 수식의 디자인 선호도 연구)

  • This research aims at the contribution to globalize and modernize the traditional Korean image by comprehending the taste of design that domestic college students have for traditional feminine head ornaments and subsequently elaborate the development of cultural products that are related to these decorative objects. In regards to this research method, the examination on the traditional feminine ornaments was followed through a review of literature and precedent studies and a survey was conducted on the preference about them. After the adoption of final valid responses, an analytical method, PASW 18.0, was used for frequency analysis, technical analysis, reliability, and regression analysis. The results were as follows. First, in the category of tendency analysis for the application of traditional feminine headpiece in fashion cultural products, it was revealed that a taste for the design that meet the satisfaction for both trend and practicability was prominently prevalent. Also, the design that express the individual characteristic was taken as a preferred option. Second, in the preference for the design of traditional feminine headpieces in fashion cultural products, the result indicated that the modern type was preferred in the form of re-creation as long as those products deform the tradition. As for the selective taste for patterns, their preference came in the order of plant, animal, and geometry-abstract types. Especially, for the case of plant and animal patterns, the reinterpreted design of modernized shapes were opted rather than a simply recopied format of the conventional type of the feminist head ornament. Third, for the category of item selection to apply the feminine head ornament in order to design the fashion cultural products, it turned out that people preferred the application to accessory rather than clothing. Lastly, it was found that rarity, harmony with other fashion goods, pattern, and design should be considered when the traditional motif was used for cultural products.

  • Recently, there is an increasing number of startups in wine business because of the rapid growth of wine consumption. The entrepreneurs need support to prepare infrastructure of wine business. Entrepreneurship is a course of preparing funding, personnel, and technology for preliminary entrepreneurs. In this paper, we implement a wine recommendation application for preliminary entrepreneurs of preparing the wine business as part of the technical support project. The proposed application is to collect accurate data using barcode recognition technology. Finally, proposed application aims the building of the wine knowledge-base through the data analysis by applying efficient algorithms.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to study on the philosophical analysis model and its methodological application of information systems research evaluation from critical realist perspective. Fist of all, I examine ontological epistemological methodological assertions of critical realism. Because the philosophy of critical realism is an opportunity for information systems study. I examine Dobson and Mutch's critical realist perspective on actors-structure model. I suggest a critical realist actors-praxis-structure model. This model provides the potential for a new approach to social investigations in its provision of an ontology for the analytical separation of structure and agency. Of most importance might be the incorporation of non-humans into the analysis of social interaction and of technology into the elaboration of structures. I also examine Tsoukas's critical realistic meta-theory of management. I suggest a critical realist IS management model. This model elucidate the nature of management and delineate the scope of applicability of various perspectives on management. The causal powers of management reside in the real domain and, taken together, their logics are contradictory, the effects of their contradictory composition are contingent upon prevailing contingencies. I analyze Carlsson's theory of design knowledge. His framework builds on that the aim of IS design science research is to develop practical knowledge for the design and realization of different classes of IS initiatives, where IS are viewed as socio-technical systems and not just IT artefacts. The framework proposes that the output of IS design science research is practical IS design knowledge in the form of field-tested and grounded technological rules. The IS design knowledge is developed through an IS design science research cycle. In conclusion, I think that IS actors-praxis-structure model, meta-theoretical IS management model, and IS design knowledge model according to critical realistic approach are very useful for IS research evaluation. Nevertheless, important problems are left not resolved.

  • The warehousing of inventories is an enormous expense to industries worldwide, and yet there are few available that can be used to design rack storage systems while considering overall system costs. The primary objective of this paper is the development of an overall ware hous storage system costs model to aid a warehous planner in the design of automated warehouse systems. A simulation model and statistical estimation procedures are used to determine the maximum inventory levels accumulated in the receiving, storage, and shipping areas. The overall cost model is developed to determine the required total land, the initial investment fund, the number of pieces of handling equipment, and the storage rack configuration for the main storage area. A numerical example is then presented to demonstrate the application of the overall system cost model developed in this paper.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze environmental-friendly design features in landscape architecture. The process of the study first started theoretical research of 'Environmental-friendly' and 'Landscape', then extracted primary conceptual elements that based on ecological background, and analyze 20 cases, from 1990 to now, based on elements that extracted. Summarizing about environment-friendly feature in landscape architecture of Form, Space, Energy Management is as following. First, In the formal aspect, Landscape architecture tend to harmonize with surrounding environment through horizontal, vertical continuity that is realized to transform artificial plate. Second, In the spatial aspect, Landscape architectural space has flexible feature. It is expression through methods blur boundary between outside and inside, lead to change and experience by time, indeterminacy of program. Third, In the energy management aspect, the introduction of effective energy system increase environmental features in space through technical application and environmental-friendly materials.

  • Environmental Product Life Cycle Management is an activity for defining and describing the product, process or activity environmentally. Especially, the main responsibility for the environmental impact of products lies in the design phase of product. Designers cany a heavy responsibility to determine technical, economic and ecological properties of the product. So in order to help designers, structured understanding and application of treating large amount of data and infonnation should be considered. This paper presents a methodological approach for decision supporting to build Product Life Cycle Management system and show a set of database modeling. Additionally, a key issue for databases is the quality of the provided information.

  • Many methods have been suggested for a creative problem solving approach. TRIZ approach is ranked top in its practical application because it is originated from the real patent analysis. This approach is assumed to be generic which can be applied to any types of problems regardless of problem type and its domain. The objective of this study is to propose a creative problem solving approach using TRIZ's contradiction analysis, then introduce a case study of applying this approach to a creative design coursework. Main topic covers a creative problem solving approach, a problem definition using TRIZ contradiction analysis, finding invention principles, and problem solving from the generic approach. For the course project, Roborobo tool is adopted to implement the design concept. This coursework helps students finding a general problem solving approach, and applying a generic solution for their specific problem domain.

  • Optical fiber splice closure serves to protect connection parts from external environment. Moreover, it functions as a connection, junction, and distribution in diverse surroundings such as aerial, underground, duct, and pole. In this research, first, the optical fiber splice closure, its configuration, and the design problem were briefly investigated. Second, the design and application for in-line cable closure were studied to satisfy its construction and technical features. The injection molding conditions and optimal design were conducted to save time and cost during the manufacturing process. Third, methods to minimize loss via of optical fiber cable while strongly fixing optical fiber cable with optical cable holder to prevent fracture were researched, and tests such as perfect air tightness and mechanical and environmental performance were conducted.

  • Garak Market Modernization Project Phase 1, which is the public projects worth 1,75 billion won, was delivered by adopting modifiable bid of BOQ on the lowest price award system. The modifiable bid of BOQ system allows bidders to modify quantities based on their own drawings and construction specifications and requirements. It was initiated by the government for minimizing design error and for inducing technical competition between tenders by checking errors. At that time the bidding, it allowed modifying the BOQ all the works. In the construction phase, the responsibility for the design changes, due to mistakes and omissions on design documents and BOQ were disputed between the owner and the contractors. This study analyzed the problem of the system and addressed a need of improvement.

Design for earthquake-resistant short RC structural walls

  • The application of the compressive force path method for the design of earthquake-resistant reinforced concrete structural walls with a shear span-to-depth ratio larger than 2.5 has been shown by experiment to lead to a significant reduction of the code specified transverse reinforcement within the critical lengths without compromising the code requirements for structural performance. The present work complements these findings with experimental results obtained from tests on structural walls with a shear span-to-depth ratio smaller than 2.5. The results show that the compressive force path method is capable of safeguarding the code performance requirements without the need of transverse reinforcement confining concrete within the critical lengths. Moreover, it is shown that ductility can be considerably increased by improving the strength of the two bottom edges of the walls through the use of structural steel elements extending to a small distance of the order of 100 mm from the wall base.
