  • This study aims to analyze the multicultural content of the Korean Elementary School Textbook revised in 2015. This study abstracted the framework of multicultural factors for analysis of multicultural contents from the research on "Revision Guidelines by Analysis of Multicultural Factors in Secondary Curriculum and Textbook". The analyzed textbook is the integrated winter textbooks for both the first and second grades revised curriculum in 2015. Several findings were represented as follows: first, the frequency of multicultural content displayed five times in first grade and nineteen times in second grade respectively. Second, the analyzed textbooks did not include contents directly associated with multiculturalism. Activities and experience is important in the acceptance of unfamiliar cultures Thus, multicultural contents' frequency of within textbooks is very crucial. Finally, the revised curriculum focused on activities and experiences about the theme and content in the textbook and was developed around block chassis. For teaching the textbook content, teachers must perfectly understand textbooks through teacher training. The textbooks of reflecting right values on multiculturalismIn. this respect, elementary school curriculum and textbook content should be improved by supplementary revision fitting for the growth of humanity in the multicultural era.

  • This study was intended to investigate effects of building school forests on elementary school students, including changes in mental image of school, attitude toward nature and forest, and awareness of their relationship with school forest. The total number of 770 drawings and 1,124 writings were collected to be analyzed from three elementary schools. The results showed that there were significant differences between two student groups, respectively forest school group versus non-forest school group, in their mental image of school. For instance, more often observed in the drawings of forest school group students than their counterparts were natural and human elements, activities associated with nature, and natural or human elements located at central area. Also, more frequently found in the writings of forest school group students than their counterparts were letter-style sentences, stories about school forests, inherent values on nature and forest, and curiosity regarding the nature. These results seem to indicate that in order to materialize educational value of school forests, practical workshops for teachers need to be held as soon as possible and new activity models for students should be developed. In addition to that, long-term research on effectiveness of school forest have to be conducted to a number of schools.

  • How can the educator help learners to learn? The old way was to tell learners as much as possible, passing on the educator's knowledge. Now the educator acts as a helper. She will organise experiences which allow the learners to do health behaviors, she may utilize instructional materials, she may write downsome questions for a group of learners to discuss. In all these ways the teachers is helping learning. Some educators feel that they must do all the talking themselves. They feel that they are not really teaching the learners some new information, but this is quite wrong. In fact if a educatorgives a lecture and learners do not learn, then the educator is talking not teaching. So the devlopment of instructional materials is much needed to be a learner education. And the selection of materials may be very important for the level of maturity of the learners in interest, complexity of ideas, opportunity for self-identification, speed of learners' ability to observe and length of concentration. Author studied the several instructional materials which can be utilized in the field of dental health education and also studied their values, limitations and considerations when they are used. The learning activities are poster, puppet, model, mock-up, specimen, flannel board, chalk board, bulletin board, psychodrama, role play, field trip, exhibition, laboratory method.

  • Mathematics teaching is often more effective when teachers connect the contents of mathematics with history, culture, and social events. In the history of mathematics, the 'paradigm' theory from Thomas Kuhn's scientific revolution is very effective to explain the revolutionary process of development in mathematics, and his theory has been widely quoted in the history of science and economics. However, it has not been appropriate to use his theory in the other fields. This is due to the fact that the scope of Kuhn's paradigm theory is limited to mathematics and science. In this study, this researcher introduced pan-paradigm as a general concept that encompasses all, since through any relation in the field of mathematics and architecture, Thomas Kuhn's theory of paradigm does not explain the phenomena. That is, at the root of various cultures there exist always a 'collective unconsciousness' and 'demands of the times,' and these two factors by synergism form values and controlling principles common to various parts of the culture, and this synergism leads the cultural activities, the process of which is a phenomenon called pan-paradigm.
