  • To measure the state of instructional programs in school libraries revitalized by the MEST project, teacher-librarians who are members of a provincial library education research committee were asked to respond to a survey and phone interview. The results illustrate that both teacher-librarians and classroom teachers lack a comprehensive understanding of information literacy(IL), and that information literacy instruction(ILI) was implemented in less than half of the surveyed schools. Even in those schools where ILI was implemented, the curriculum was underdeveloped, frequently consisting of little more than basic library orientation programs. The lack of understanding regarding ILI by classroom teachers was specified as a major barrier.

  • Many educators and teacher-librarians have emphasized many times on the necessity and the educational value of the school library. But actually the necessity and the educational value of the school library is not recognized as the most important ones in the educational system. Therefore I tried to find out several ways on the development of the school library and the promotion of the teacher-librarian focusing on recognition of the necessity of school library. In order to develop the school library, it is necessary that the function of the school library should be maximized and transformed to effective system. I would like to suggest the following methods : 1) Transform the present school library into the school library media center. 2) Connect the running system S.L.M.C. to the curriculum of the school. 3) Emphasis of the reading education. 4) Guidance on the use of library. At last I studied on the definition, the legal status and the education of the teacher-librarian.

Based on these analyses, this study discussed strengthening access to the school library, specifying the work of the teacher-librarian's library and information services, strengthening collaboration with school members, educational activities based on evidence base, sharing educational effects and developing of library and information curriculum.

In order to solve the questions measuring digital reading literacy and digital information literacy, respondents commonly needed ICT skills as well as cognitive strategies. However, in digital reading literacy measurement items, the ability to comprehend and critically think about texts was emphasized. And in digital information literacy measurement items, the ability to use ICT skills, navigate, and evaluate whether or not to read the retrieved text was emphasized. Librarians and teacher librarians need to encourage readers to read and provide a customized competencies improvement program to reflect the performance results and characteristics of a particular group. • The purpose of this study is to analyse the Big6 model and the Big6 modification model to find out the characteristics of the Big6 model and to derive implications for applying the Big6 model in the field. For this purpose, the information literacy standards of the AASL and the ACRL were compared with the Big6 model. The Big6 model, influenced by Bloom's taxonomy was analyzed alongside the Big6+3 model, the Big8 model and the modified Big6 model, provided by LG Science Land. As a result, the Big6 model could be used as an information problem-solving model, metacognitive activation strategy, and scaffolding to improve students' information literacy. In addition, it could be used as a model for constructivism, inquiry-based learning, the integration of curriculum, collaborative education, and ICT technology. How teacher-librarians or librarians apply the Big6 model is related to the improvement of critical thinking skills. Teacher-librarians and librarians need to plan situations, subjects, topics, and methods in a systematic and specific way when applying the Big6 model to the information literacy curriculum.
