Many deterministic systems are described by Ordinary differential equations and can often be improved by including stochastic effects, but numerical methods for solving stochastic differential equations(SDEs) are required, and work in this area is far less advanced than for deterministic differential equations. In this paper, first we follow [7] to describe Runge-Kutta methods with order 2 from Taylor approximations in the weak sense and present two well known Runge-Kutta methods, RK2-TO and RK2-PL. Then we obtain a new 3-stage explicit Runge-Kutta with order 2 in weak sense and compare the numerical results among these three methods.

For an analysis of nonlinear dynamic behavior in carbon nanotube(CNT) an electrostatic force of CNT was investigated. The boundary condition in the CNT was assumed to clamped-clamped case at both ends. This type of CNT is widely used as micro and nano-sensors. For larger gaps in between sensor and electrode the van der Waals force can be ignored. The electrostatic force can be expressed as linear form using Taylor series. However, the first term of the series expansion was investigated here. The electrostatic force From this study we can conclude that for larger gaps the electrostatic force play an important role in determining the deflections as well as the pull-in voltage of simply supported switches.

In order to apply UTM coordinates conversion in zones larger than $14^{\circ}$ wide, a new conversion formula, based on the 12th expansion of Taylor series, is derived which is shown to be an extension of Thomas' formula(1952). Some examples of coordinate conversion between WGS84 and UTM are presented and convergences of computational results are also tested according to the order of formula. The present conversion formula can be used to make rectangular coordinate grid systems for numerical models to compute long wave propagation such as tide or tsunami around Korea.
A digital controller for nonlinear time-delay system is proposed in this paper. A nonlinear time-delay system is discretized by using Taylor's discretization method. And the discretized system can be converted to a general nonlinear system. For this reason, general nonlinear controller synthesis can be applied to the discretized time-delay system. We adopted MAC controller synthesis for this study. Computer simulations are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed method. The results of simulation show good performance of the proposed controller synthesis and the proposed method is useful to control nonlinear time-delay system easily.

This paper studies on the relation between linearization methods and controller gains in the looper ILQ(lnverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) system for hot strip finishing mills. Firstly, two linear models arc respectively derived by a linearization method using Taylor's series expansion and a static state feedback linearization method, respectively, and the linear models are compared with the nonlinear model. Secondly, the looper servo controllers are respectively designed on the basis of two linearization models. Finally, the relation between the performances of two ILQ servo controllers and the linearization methods, and the structures and control gains of two controllers are evaluated by a computer simulation.

The main function of the tracking radar is to automatically track the target. The amplitude-comparison monopulse radar utilizes a monopulse radar to estimate the angular components of a target. In this paper, the operating performance of the amplitude-comparison monopulse radar is quantitatively analyzed via the MSEs, with considerations on additive noise. The performance of the amplitude comparison monopulse radar can be predicted by comparing it with an approximated estimate.
A computational method for solving singularly perturbed boundary value problem of differential equation with shift arguments of mixed type is presented. When shift arguments are sufficiently small (o(ε)), most of the existing method in the literature used Taylor's expansion to approximate the shift term. This procedure may lead to a bad approximation when the delay argument is of O(ε). The main idea for this work is to deal with constant shift arguments, which are independent of ε. In the present method, we construct the formally asymptotic solution of the problem using the method of composite expansion. The reduced problem is solved numerically by using operator compact implicit method, and the second problem is solved analytically. Error estimate is derived by using the maximum norm. Numerical examples are provided to support the theoretical results and to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

Generally, component and FR-4 board are connected by solder joint. Because material properties of components and FR-4 board are different, component and FR-4 board show different coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) and thus strains in component and board are different when they are heated. That is, the differences in CTE of component and FR-4 board cause the dissimilarity in shear strain and BGA solder joint s failure. The first order Taylor series expansion of the limit state function incorporating with thermal fatigue models is used in order to estimate the failure probability of solder joints under heated condition. A model based on plastic-strain rate such as the Coffin-Manson Fatigue Model is utilized in this study. The effects of random variables such as frequency, maximum temperature, and temperature variations on the failure probability of the BGA solder joint are systematically investigated by using a failure probability model with the first order reliability method(FORM).
A passive sonar of warship is composed of several directional or omni-directional sensors. In order to model the acoustic signal received into a warship sonar, the wave propagation modeling is usually required from arbitrary noise source to all sensors equipped to the sonar. However, the full calculation for all sensors is time-consuming and the performance of sonar simulator deteriorates. In this study, we suggest an asymptotic method to estimate the sonar signal arrived to sensors adjacent to the reference sensor, where it is assumed that all information of eigenrays is known. This method is developed using Taylor series for the time delay of eigenray and similar to Fraunhofer and Fresnel approximation for sonar aperture. To validate the proposed method, some numerical experiments are performed for the passive sonar. The approximation when the second-order term is kept is vastly superior. In addition, the error criterion for each approximation is provided with a practical example.

Fingerprint sensor interoperability refers to the ability of a system to compensate for the variability introduced in the finger data of individual due to the deployment of different sensors. The purpose of this paper is the development of a compensation algorithm by which the interoperability of fingerprint recognition can be improved among various different fingerprint sensors. In this paper we show that a simple transformation derived to form a Taylor series expansion can be used in conjunction with a set of corresponding minutia points to improve the correspondence of finer fingerprint details within a fingerprint image. This is demonstrated by an applying the transformation to a database of fingerprint images and examining the minutiae match scores with and without the transformation. The EER of the proposed method was improved by average 60.94% better than before compensation.
