양성전해질 고정막의 제조 및 그것의 금속이온 흡착 특성 (Preparation of Ampholyte Grafted Hollow-fiber Membrane and Its Adsorption Characteristic on Metallic Ions)

  • 본 연구는 양성전해질막의 금속이온 특성을 조사하기 위하여 Taurine (TAU)막을 제조하였다. 제조방법으로는 방사선조사법에 의한 Glycidyl methacrylate (GMA)의 중공사막 표면위에 고정시키고, 이후 Taurine의 염기성 부분인 $-NH_2$기(amine fuction)와 GMA의 glycididyl의 개환 반응을 통하여 안정된 막을 형성하도록 하였다. 한편 TAU막과 비교를 위해 GMA가 고정된 중공사 막에 Sodium sulfite로 화학적 결합을 형성 SS막을 제조하였다. 이렇게 제조된 TAU막의 타우린 밀도가 높아져도 투과유속은 0.9 m/h로 변화 없으나, SS막은 술폰산기의 밀도가 높아짐에 따라 투과유속이 급격히 감소하는 것을 나타내었다. 타우린 밀도가 0.8 mmol/g인 막을 사용한 결과 금속이온의 량은 Cu > Cd > Mg > Sb > Pb의 순으로 나타내었다. 전반적으로 타우린막은 전화율과 밀도의 증가에 따라 많은 양의 금속이온 흡착과 높은 투과유속을 나타내었다.

노인간호학 교과과정에 대한 조사연구 (A Study of Gerontological Nursing Curriculum)

  • To survey the present status of the gerontological nursing course at three year diploma programs, baccalaureate degree programs(BSN), and graduate programs in Korea, and to analyze the contents of the syllabus and gerontological nursing textbooks to provide the basic data in developing a standard model for gerontological nursing curriculum. Method: Data was collected from all the nursing programs in Korea from Nov. 2000 to Feb. 2001 by mail and fax. Result: The gerontological nursing courses has been offered 36 diploma program, 40 BSN, and 17 graduate programs. And the credits of the gerontological nursing course offered by the program were as follows : one credit (10 diploma and 8 BSN), two credits (22 diploma and 29 BSN), and three credits (1 BSN). The contents of curri- culum were analyzed by comparing the core curriculum of NGNA. The majority of the schools included Gerontological Nursing in General, Theory of Aging, Aging Processes, Care Plan Options, and Common Health Problems. The subjects which very few school cover are Legal/ Ethical Issues, Evaluation, Regulatory & Reimbursement Issues, Education Issues, Nursing Research in Gerontology, and Environmental Issues of Older Adults. There were some differences in these results among diploma courses, BSNs, and graduate schools. The gerontological nursing textbooks contained similar contents to those of the diploma and the baccalaureate programs.

  • Taurine Chloramine (Tau-Cl) inhibits production of nitric oxide(NO) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-${\alpha}$) in activated peritoneal macrophages, similar In that previously reported for activated RAW 264.7 cells. In addition, the effect of Tau-Cl and taurine on superoxide anion (O$\_$2/$\^$-/) Production in murine peritoneal exudate polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) was examined. Tau-Cl inhibited O$\_$2/$\^$-/ production in a manner that was dose-dependent and reversible, Taurine also inhibited O$\_$2/$\^$-/ production by stimulated PMN, but at higher concentrations and to a lesser extent than Tau-Cl. The effects of taurine on O$\_$2/$\^$-/ production was attributed to the in vitro formation of Tau-Cl catalyzed by PMN associated halide-dependent myeloperoxidase. In contrast, production of NO and TNF-${\alpha}$ by activated peritoneal exudate macrophages was inhibited by Tau-Cl while taurine was without effect. These data lend support to the notion that Tau-Cl may participate ill the inflammatory responses by modulating production of inflammatory mediators.

기울기백터를 이용한 카오스 시계열에 대한 예측 (The Prediction of Chaos Time Series Utilizing Inclined Vector)

  • 지금까지 삽입(Embedding)백터를 이용한 국소적예측방법은 고차미분방정식으로부터 생성된 카오스 시계열을 예측할 때, 파라메타 $\tau$의 추정이 정확하지 않으면 예측성능은 떨어졌다. 지금까지 지연시간 ($\tau$)의 값을 추정하는 방법은 많이 제안되어있지만 실제로 고차원미분방정식부터 생성되어진 수많은 시계열에 모두 적용 가능한 방법은 아직 없다. 이것을 기울기 백터를 이용한 기울기 선형모델을 도입하는 것에 의해 정확한 지연시간 ($\tau$)의 값을 추정하지 않아도 예측성능에 만족할 수 있는 결과를 표시했다. 이것을 이론뿐이 아니고 경제시계열에도 적용해서 종래의 예측방법과 비교해서 그 유효성을 표시했다.

Molecular and Cellular Basis of Neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's Disease

  • The most common form of senile dementia is Alzheimer's disease (AD), which is characterized by the extracellular deposition of amyloid ${\beta}-peptide$ ($A{\beta}$) plaques and the intracellular formation of neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) in the cerebral cortex. Tau abnormalities are commonly observed in many neurodegenerative diseases including AD, Parkinson's disease, and Pick's disease. Interestingly, tau-mediated formation of NFTs in AD brains shows better correlation with cognitive impairment than $A{\beta}$ plaque accumulation; pathological tau alone is sufficient to elicit frontotemporal dementia, but it does not cause AD. A growing amount of evidence suggests that soluble $A{\beta}$ oligomers in concert with hyperphosphorylated tau (pTau) serve as the major pathogenic drivers of neurodegeneration in AD. Increased $A{\beta}$ oligomers trigger neuronal dysfunction and network alternations in learning and memory circuitry prior to clinical onset of AD, leading to cognitive decline. Furthermore, accumulated damage to mitochondria in the course of aging, which is the best-known nongenetic risk factor for AD, may collaborate with soluble $A{\beta}$ and pTau to induce synapse loss and cognitive impairment in AD. In this review, I summarize and discuss the current knowledge of the molecular and cellular biology of AD and also the mechanisms that underlie $A{\beta}-mediated$ neurodegeneration.

Gene Expression of Taurine Transporter and Taurine Biosynthetic Enzyme During Embryonic Development

  • Taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, $^{+}NH_3CH_2CH_2{SO_3}^{-}$) is endogenous $\beta$-amino acid which is essential in fetal nutrition and development and is present in abundant quantities in several tissues of fetus. In utero, taurine deficiency causes abnormal development and abnormal function of brain, retina, kidney and myocardium. Thus, transfer of taurine into fetus is important during embryonic development. Taurine transporter (TauT) has 12 hydrophobic membrane -spanning domains, which is typical of the $Na^{+}$- and $Cl^{-}$-dependent transporter gene family. Among the various biosynthetic enzymes of taurine, cysteine sulfinic acid decarboxylase (CSD) is the rate-limiting enzyme for biosynthesis of taurine. However, the enzyme activities of taurine biosynthesis are limited in early stage of embryonic development. To analyze the expression period of TauT and CSD during embryonic development, we have investigated the gene expression of TauT and CSD using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in mouse and chicken embryos. RT-PCR anaylsis revealed that both TauT and CSD mRNAs were already expressed at Day-4.5 in mouse embryo. In chicken whole embryo, TauT and CSD mRNAs began to appear on developing times of 48 hrs and 12 hrs, respectively. TauT mRNA was detected in the organs of heart, brain and eye of the day-3 chicken embryo. Our data show that TauT and CSD mRNAs were expressed in early stage of embryonic development.

Factors Affecting Sustainable Tourism Development in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam

  • Sustainable development - including tourism development - is the general trend of all economies. With the orientation to build and develop the tourism industry into a key economic sector and become a tourist center of the Southeast region, Vietnam, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province is demanding a proper, rational, development policy, while ensuring the development and exploitation of immediate natural advantages, and ensuring long-term sustainable development. The objective of this study is to examine the factors and their trends in sustainable tourism development in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, Vietnam. Methods used include descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis and regression analysis. Data was collected from the results of a survey of 550 domestic and foreign tourists visiting Ba Ria-Vung Tau. With the help of SPSS statistical software, 12 groups of factors affecting sustainable development were identified including: economy, society, environment, humanistic tourism resources, natural tourism resources, tourism human resources, tourism products and service, tourism quality, infrastructure, technical facilities, governmental management and group of criteria to evaluate sustainable tourism development. The research results show that there are four groups of factors that significantly affect sustainable tourism development in Ba Ria-Vung Tau. These are groups of factors: Society, Environment, Tourism products and service, and Technical facilities.

A Scaling of Velocity and Magnetic field in Decaying Turbulence in Expanding/Collapsing Media

  • We investigate decaying magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence by including the effects of expansion and collapse of the background medium. The problem has two time scales, the eddy turn-over time($t_{eddy}$) and the expansion/collapse time scale(${\tau}_H$). The turbulence is expected to behave differently in two regimes of $t_{eddy}$ < ${\tau}_H$ and $t_{eddy}$ > ${\tau}_H$. For instance, for $t_{eddy}$ < ${\tau}_H$, the turbulence would decay more or less as in a static medium. On the other hand, for $t_{eddy}$ > ${\tau}_H$, the effects of expansion and collapse would be dominant. We examine the properties of turbulence in the regimes of $t_{eddy}$ < ${\tau}_H$ and $t_{eddy}$ > ${\tau}_H$. Based on it, we derive a scaling for the time evolution of flow velocity and magnetic field.

  • V711 Tau의 채층활동을 조사하기 위하여 자외선 영역의 Mg II 방출선의 세기와 광도 변화의 상관 관계를 유추하였다. 첫째, 가시광선 영역의 광도곡선의 형태와 자외선 영역의 광도곡선의 형태를 비교하고, 둘째, IUE 고분산 스펙트럼에서 Mg II 방출선의 세기를 위상별로 측정하고 방출선 부근의 연속선을 이용하여 자외선 광도곡선을 완성하였다. 방출선의 세기와 광도곡선을 비교한 결과 방출선이 강하게 나타나는 위상, $0.^{p}4$에서는 광도가 어둡게 나타나 최소가 되고, 방출선의 세기가 약할 때는 광도가 밝아져서 최대가 되었다. 이는 자기장이 강한 위상에서는 채층활동과 흑점의 크기가 증가하고 반대로 자기장이 약한 위상에서는 채층활동과 흑점의 크기가 작다는 것을 뜻한다. 그러므로 자기장, 채층활동, 별 표면의 흑점과의 상관 관계가 밝혀지고, V711 Tau의 변광은 표면의 채층활동과 흑점에 의한 것이다.

CsI:X(X=Li+,K+,Rb+단결정의 섬광특성 (Scintillation Characteristics of CsI:X(X=Li+,K+,Rb+ Single Crystals)

  • CsI에 활성제로 Li, K, Rb를 첨가하여 CsI(Li), CsI(K) 및 CsI(Rb) 단결정을 Czochralski방법으로 육성하였다. $^{137}CS$(0.662 MeV)에 대한 CsI(Li:0.2 mole%) 섬광체의 에너지 분해능은 14.5%이었고 CsI(K:0.5 mole%) 섬광체는 15.9%이었으며 CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) 섬광체는 17.0%이였다. 이들 CsI(Li), CsI(K) 및 CsI(Rb) 섬광체의 $\gamma$선 에너지에 대한 에너지 교정곡선은 선형적 이였다. 일정비율 시간분석법(CFT :constant-fraction timing method)으로 측정한 CsI(Li:0.2 mole%), CsI(K:0.5 mole%) 및 CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) 성광체의 시간 분해능은 각각 9.0 ns, 14.7 ns 및 9.7 ns이였다. CsI(Li:0.2 mole%), CsI(K:0.5 mole%) 및 CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) 섬광체의 형광감쇠시간은 각각 ${\tau}_1=41.2\;ns$, ${\tau}_2=483\;ns$, ${\tau}_1=47.2\;ns$, ${\tau}_2=417\;ns$${\tau}_1=41.3\;ns$${\tau}_2=553\;ns$이였다. 그리고 CsI(Li:0.2 mole%), CsI(K:0.5 mole%) 및 CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) 단결정의 인광감쇠시간은 각각 0.51 s, 0.57 s 및 0.56 s이였다.
