Fashion Taste Expressions in the Use of Instagram (인스타그램 이용에 나타난 패션 취향 표현)

  • This study identified the utilization characteristics of individual fashion taste expression on Instagram, and examined the impact of the use of the media on the formation and change of fashion taste. The research method conducted 1:1 indepth interviews with 19 people in their 20s and 30s using 501 images for analysis. The results of this study are as follows. Posting, searching, and reading behavior on Instagram were identified in three dimensions (self-expression, information gathering, and relationship orientation). In the image of self-expression, clothes were displayed at the time so that they could be checked and applied in other ways. Accumulated posts inspired people to look back on past styles and use them to reflect on the present. A media environment that was constantly exposed to information in real time allowed people to try various styles by imitating other users' posts and share in a process of creatively exploring styles to help organize fashion tastes developmentally. Participants had selective relationships with people of similar tastes who experienced the pleasure of enjoying through the exchange of tastes in fashion. These taste mates directly influenced the formation or change of tastes, serving as a criteria for styles or presenting new styles. In this study, fashion taste was formed by individual efforts of pursuit (not a collective social class choice) and was a continuous process of constantly changing that also exploring discriminatory styles.

Association between Risk Factors for Health and Taste Perceptions of Middle-aged and Elderly People Living in Rural Areas (농촌지역 중.노년의 맛 감지능과 건강위험인자와의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between taste perceptions and risk factors for health of Korean elderly living in rural areas. Recognition thresholds for four basic tastes, drug consumption, BMI, fasting blood glucose, serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride, systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure were assessed in 176 males and 312 females aged between 50 and 88 years. For the recognition threshold of the four basic tastes, alcohol drinking did not influence their sensitivities, but the alcohol drinking group preferred a higher pleasant concentration of NaCl than did the non-alcohol drinking group. However, smoking significantly decreased sensitivities of the four basic tastes. For the pleasant concentration of NaCl, the smoking group tended to prefer a higher concentration than the non-smoking group. Drug consumption, fasting blood glucose, serum total cholesterol, and serum triglycerides did not have a significant correlation to the sensitivity of the four basic tastes and preference of salty solution. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure may have been positively correlated with the pleasant concentration of NaCl but did not correlate with the recognition thresholds of NaCl and sucrose. Further, systolic blood pressure was negatively correlated with the recognition thresholds of caffeine, whereas diastolic blood pressure was negatively correlated with the recognition thresholds of caffeine and citric acid. The finding that the risk factors for health correlated with taste perception has diagnostic and practical implications for health promotion for the elderly.

A Study on the Effect of Taste Preference on Harmony of Coffee Food (커피음식 조화도에 영향을 미치는 맛 선호도에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the correlation between harmony of coffee-food and taste preference was examined by conducting an investigative analysis in oilier to find out taste preference having effect on the harmony of coffee-food. As a result of study, foreign food was perceived as having average level or higher harmony in confectionery and bread in harmony of coffee-food, coffee beans were perceived as being more harmonious than a coffee mix. Korean food was perceived as average or lower harmony with coffee with s relatively high level in rice cake, traditional snacks and Hangwa, all of which are traditional desserts. In the correlation between taste preference and harmony of coffee-food, foreign food was shown well-matched with coffee as sweet and salty tastes were low; however, for sour, hitter, spicy and plain tastes, the more preference they had, the better-matched they were. As a result, taste preference had effect on harmony with coffee-food. For foreign food, it was shown that sweet and plain tastes influenced it while bitter and plain tastes did in Korean food in general.

Genetic Analysis of Taste of Korean Hot Pepper (한국 고추맛의 유전 분석)

  • This study was carried out to determine the genic values of taste of Korean hot pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) in practical genetic resources of using to breed them. The two breeding materials of pepper, '#1803' ($P_1$) of prefer tastes and '#1532' ($P_2$) of ordinary taste, and their $F_1$, $F_2$ generations were used in this study. By using partitioning method it was possible to estimate, from the $F_2$ generation, the number of effective factor pairs differentiating the two parents. There were found to be differentiated by two effective factor pairs. In practical genetic resource of using to breed the Korean hot pepper, the heritance of pepper tastes showed that the $F_1$ was better than excellent parent by reason of over dominant, but some $F_2$ was better than both parent by transgressive segregation. As the result, the magnitude of genic effects of A-a gene in pepper tastes was 0.36, and B-b gene was 0.64. The tastes of Korean hot pepper showed a complex inheritance by interaction effect on the two non-allelic factors of 0.94 and secondary effect of 2.86 at the most.

  • This article aims at exploring the convergence and sharing of cultural tastes among Northeast Asian countries by analyzing TV drama "Boys over flower", based on the original Japanese manga and produced in Korea, China, Japan and Taiwan in the $21^{st}$ century. It explores the expectation and desire of the mass who have taken pleasure in watching it in each country as well. This article argues that the sharing of the sensitivities and tastes of young women, the main consumer of the drama, by the mass of the four countries, are an important cultural phenomenon in that it reveals the emergence of "girl" as an active cultural consumer, who had been the object of a restraint and strict protection of the bourgeois family structure.

  • Background and Objectives : There are four kinds of formulas for invigorating the kidney to cure its asthenic syndrome based on the types of preparation formulas : Boshintang, Boshinhwan, Boshinsan, and Boshingaeng. There are 16 kinds of Boshintang, 28 kinds of Boshinhwan, 3 kinds of Boshinsan, and one kind of Boshingaeng. Combination of herbal medicines, carried out in formulas for invigorating the kidney, consists of various kinds depending on medical scientists' personal experience in medical treatment without any general principles, which makes it difficult to apply it to clinical use. The objectives of this study lie in theoretical establishment of Boshintang for curing the asthenic syndrome of kidney through analyzing the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Boshintang, and furthermore, maximizing the clinical use of Boshintang. Methods : This study analyzed the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Boshintang based on the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines from the ${\ulcorner}$Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine${\lrcorner}$ , the theory for principal herbal medicine, assistant herbal medicine, adjuvant herbal medicine, dispatcher herbal medicine, and the five elements doctrine. Hyeongok's Boshintang is an even prescription, composed of 6 kinds of ingredients : No.1 Fructus Lycii (3don;11.25g), No.2 Radix Polygoni Multiflori (1don:3.75g), No.3 Sarcucarpium Corni (1don), No.4 Fructus Schisandrae (1don), No.5 Rhizoma Anemarrhenae (5poon: 1.875g), and No.6 Cortex Phellodendri (5poon) Results : There are three methods for curing the asthenic syndrome of kidney according to the five elements doctrine : invigorating the kidney, invigorating the lung and purging the spleen. First, if you suffer from the asthenic syndrome of the kidney, you need to invigorate your kidney. There are two available methods, including taste and property invigoration according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. They each imply the bitter taste and the cold property invigorate the kidney. In the case of taste invigoration, two herbal medicines with bitter taste, Fructus Lycii and Radix Polygoni Multiflori, are combined into the principal and assistant herbal medicine, respectively. For property invigoration, two herbal medicines with the cold property, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae and Cortex Phellodendri, are combined into adjuvant herbal medicines. As a good example, Hyeongok's Boshintang is combined according to the above theories. In conclusion, this formula was created by applying to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines.

  • Objectives : The objectives of this study lie in theoretical establishment of Bopyeo-tang for treating asthenic syndrome of the lung through analyzing the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang, and furthermore, maximizing the clinical effectiveness of Bopyeo-tang. Methods : This study analyzed the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang based on the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines from the ${\ulcorner}$Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine${\lrcorner}$, the theory for principal herbal medicine, assistant herbal medicine, adjuvant herbal medicine, dispatcher herbal medicine, and the five elements doctrine. Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang is an unusual prescription, composed of 7 kinds of ingredients. Results : There are three methods for curing asthenic syndrome of the lung according to the five elements doctrine: invigorating the lung, invigorating the spleen and purging the heart. There are two available methods to invigorate the lung, taste and property invigoration, according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. They each imply the sour taste and the cool property invigorate the lung. In the case of taste invigoration, two herbal medicines with sour taste, Sarcucarpium Corni and Fructus Schisandrae, are combined into the principal and assistant herbal medicine, respectively. For property invigoration, two herbal medicines with the cool property, Colla Corii Asini and Radix Ophiopogonis, are combined into adjuvant herbal medicines. There are likewise two methods to invigorate the spleen, including taste and property invigoration according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. They each mean the sweet taste and the warm property invigorate the spleen. Therefore, it is important to use sweet herbal medicines for taste invigoration and warm ones for property invigoration. Taste Response of Electrodes Coated with Polymeric Lipid Membrane (고분자 지질막 전극 센서의 맛 반응 평가)

  • The fourteen different electrodes coated with polymeric lipid membrane were evaluated to selectively monitor the sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes, and umami. The polymeric lipid membrane consisted of the three components, or polymer matrix, plasticizer and electroactive material, the compositional ratio of which was 1:1.25:1. Herein, the 14 different electroactive materials were used. Sucrose, NaCl, citric acid, caffeine and MSG were used as standard materials of sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes, and umami. The linear responses of each electrode regarding 5 tastes were analyzed by means of the correlation coefficient between electric potential difference and concentration of a taste material when the linearity was based on a linear model and a thermodynamic model, respectively. As fur salty taste, the electrode coated with valinomycin had a selective linearity at the significance level of 0.01. For monitoring sweet taste, the electrode with oleylamine and the electrode with the mixture of tai-n-octylmethylammonium chloride and dioctylphosphate (2:8) showed the significant linearities at the levels of 0.05 and 0.10, respectively.
