The quality of track-bed fills of railways has been controlled by field measurements of density (${\gamma}_d$) and the results of plate-load tests. The control measures are compatible with the design procedures whose design parameter is $k_{30}$ for both ordinary-speed railways and high-speed railways. However, one of fatal flaws of the design procedures is that there are no simple laboratory measurement procedures for the design parameters ($k_{30}$ or, $E_{v2}$ and $E_{v2}/E_{v1}$) in design stage. A new quality control procedure, in parallel with the advent of the new design procedure, is being proposed. This procedure is based upon P-wave velocity involving consistently the evaluation of design parameters in design stage and the field measurements during construction. The key concept of the procedure is that the target value for field compaction control is the P-wave velocity determined at OMC using modified compaction test, and direct-arrival method is used for the field measurements during construction. The procedure was verified at a test site and the p-wave velocity turned out to be an excellent control measure. The specifications for the control also include field compaction water content of $OMC{\pm}2%$ as well as the p-wave velocity.

In recent year, B $i_{4-}$x L $a_{x}$$Ti_3$$O_{12(BLT)}$ is one of promising substitute materials for the ferroelectric random access memory(FRAM) applications. But the systematic composition is still insufficient, so this experiment was carried out in ceramic ambient sintering process which has the very excellent ferroelectric property. Samples were prepared by a bulk and the purpose which was estimated with a suitability of thin films applications. The density of B $i_{3.75}$ L $a_{0.25}$$Ti_3$$O_{12}$ was high and the XRD pattern showed that the intensity of main peak (117) was increased at the argon ambient sintering. Controlling the quantity of oxygen, crystallization showed a thin, long plate like type, and we obtained the excellent dielectric and polarization properties at the argon atmosphere sintering. Also this sintering process was effective at the bulk sample. Argon ambient sintered sample produced higher permittivity of 154, the remanent polarization(2Pr) of 6.8 uC/$\textrm{cm}^2$ compared with that sintered in air and oxygen ambient. And this sintering process showed a possibility which could be applied to thin films process..
Each aircraft have to be certified for a specified level of impact energy, for assuring the capability of a safe flight and landing after the impact against a bird at cruise speed. The aim of this research work was to define a scientific and methodological approach to the study of the birdstrike phenomenon against several windshield geometries. A series of numerical simulations have been performed using the explicit finite element solver code LS-Dyna, in order to estimate the windshield-surround structure capability to absorb the bird impact energy, safely and efficiently, according to EASA Certification Specifications 25.631 (2011). The research considers the results obtained about a parametric numerical analysis of a simplified, but realistic, square flat windshield model, as reported in the last work (Grimaldi et al. 2013), where this model was subjected to the impact of a 1.8 kg bird model at 155 m/s to estimate the sensitivity of the target geometry, the impact angle, and the plate curvature on the impact response of the windshield structure. Then on the basis of these results in this paper the topic is focused about the development of a numerical simulation on a complete aircraft windshield-surround model with an innovative configuration. Both simulations have used a FE-SPH coupled approach for the fluid-structure interaction. The main achievement of this research has been the collection of analysis and results obtained on both simplified realistic and complete model analysis, addressed to approach with gained confidence the birdstrike problem. Guidelines for setting up a certification test, together with a design proposal for a test article are an important result of such simulations.

Magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of Tb-Fe and Tb-Fe-B thin films are systematically investigated over a wide composition range from 40.2 to 68.1 at. % Tb. The films were fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering using a composite target which consists of an Fe plate and Tb chips. The microstructure, examined by X-ray diffraction, mainly consists of an amorphous phase and, at high Tb contents, a pure Tb phase also exists. A progressive change in the direction of anisotropy from the perpendicular to in-plane occurs as the Tb content increases and the boundary at which the anisotropy change occurs shifts significantly towards to higher Tb contents with the addition of B. The saturation magnetization exhibits maxima at the Tb contents of 42 and 48 at. % for Tb-Fe and Tb-Fe-B thin films, respectively, and it is decreased by the addition of B. The coercive force, measured in the easy direction, decreases monotonically with the Tb content. Excellent magnetostrictive characteristics, particularly at low magnetic fields, are achieved in both Tb-Fe and Tb-Fe-B thin films; for example, a magnetostriction of 138 ppm is obtained in a Tb-Fe-B thin film at a magnetic field as low as 30 Oe. The excellent magnetostrictive properties of the present thin films are supported by the equally excellent magnetic softness, the coercivity below 10 Oe and a typical squared-loop shape with the saturation field as low as 1 kOe. Due to the excellent low field magnetostrictive characteristics, the present Tb-Fe based thin films are thought to be suitable for Si based microdevices.
Recently the instantaneous center concept has been to understand the biomechanics by which a tissue derangement causes a mechanical derangement in human joint. Therefore, to understand the biomechanics of temporomandibular joint (T.M.J.) as a part of human joint, it is necessary to clarify the instantaneous center of rotation (I.C.R.) in the mandibular movement. Twenty male subjects without T.M.J. disorder and mandibular deviation during the mandibular movement were selected for this study. The habitual opening and closing paths were recorded on the paper of the sagittal metal plate by two pencil markers connected to the resin open clutch attached on the lower teeth, which was designed for this study. The coordinates of the 33-target points and the 109-anatomical landmarks were obtained using a Summagraphic digitizer connected to a 18AT computer. The original raw data of the opening and closing paths were smoothed by B-spline curve fitting technique and then the I.C.R. pathways were determined mathematically by the computer using algorithm for finding the I.C.R. of a planer rigid body model. Also the opening and closing movements of the mandible were simulated according to the determined I.C.R. The results obtained from this study were as follows. 1. At the early opening and the last closing, I.C.R's were almost distributed around the mastoid process outside the mandibular body without the presence in the region of the mandibular condyle. 2. The I.C.R. pathway showed variable patterns to each subject at the opening and closing movements. 3. The K constant with uniform pattern was obtained by the rotation angle times the radius, which was assumed to the index of the mandibular movement. 4. The opening and closing movements of the mandible were simulated by the I.C.R. pathways at the habitual opening and closing movements. 5. The mandibular condyle was rotated or translated accordng to the relative rotation angle and radius of the determinant factors of K contant.

A speaker diaphragm generates a divided vibration. The influence of the break-up mode is sufficient to cause a shape change in the diaphragm. In this paper, is widely used in ultra-thin multi-media devices, including smart phones is the advance guard of the IT sector, the micro-speakers and its target. Micro-speakers are different from general speakers. The plate has structural form and space constraints. In particular, they utilize a closed-type drive space. It is difficult to provide cooling for the auxiliary suspension structure because of the heat generated in the moving coil. The present study considered the relationship between the break-up mode and the heat transfer of the diaphragm. An experiment was conducted in two stages to compare the embodiment of the break-up mode and heat transfer in a certain frequency range. The changes in the heat were determined through measurements and thermal imaging of the break-up mode. The break-up mode tendency of the diaphragm could be rapidly predicted based on the imaging results using the thermal imaging camera. This will help in the optimal design of micro-speakers.

In this study, a new concept perforated breakwater is proposed, which is having resonant channels. In the channel, perforated plate is installed for dissipating wave energy induced by flow separations. The breakwater has two advantages compared with conventional perforated breakwater having wave chamber with slotted walls. One is easy to control the target wave condition for dissipating wave energy, and the other is having the high structural safety because the structural members are not exposed to impact waves, directly. To evaluate wave reflection characteristics of the proposed breakwater, numerical experiment was carried out by using Galerkin's finite element model based on the linear potential theory. The results indicated that considerable energy dissipation occurs near the resonant period of channel, and wave reflection characteristics are affected by channel shape, location and opening ratio.

Experiments were carried out to obtain the effects of nozzle configuration and jet to jet spacing on the heat transfer characteristics of single line of circular water jets impinging on a constant heat flux plane surface. The nozzle configurations are Cone type, Reverse cone type and Vertical circular type, and the nozzle arrays are single jet(nozzle dia. 8 mm), 1 row of 3 jets and 1 row of 5 jets. Jet velocities ranging from 3m/s to 8m/s were investigated for the nozzle to target plate spacing of 80 mm. For the Cone and Reverse cone type nozzle arrays, the average Nusselt number of 1 row of 5 jets was larger than that of 1 row of 3 jets at Re$_{D}$<45000, but that of 1 row of 3 jets was larger than that of 1 row of 5 jets at $Reo\le45000$. For the Vertical circular type nozzle, however, the average Nusselt number of 1 row of 3 jets was larger than that of 1 row of 5 jets at all jet velocities. In the condition of fixed mass flow rates, the maximum heat transfer augmentation was obtained for 1 row of 5 jets and was over 2 times larger than that of the single jet for all nozzle configurations. The nozzle configurations that produce the maximum average Nusselt number are as follows: For 1 row of 3 jets, the Vertical circular type at $Reo\le45000$ and the Reverse cone type at $Reo\le45000$. But, they are the Reverse cone type at Re$_{D}$<55000 and the Vertical circular type at$Reo\le55000$ for 1 row of 5 jets.
We developed a Dual-PPACs detector for fast neutron measurements that consists of two sets of PPAC: conventional PPAC and fission PPAC. A238U(U3O8) coating is placed in the fission PPAC's anode, which is used as the neutrons conversion layer. An experiment was performed to measure neutron time-of-flight (TOF) in which 252Cf spontaneous fission source was used. An excellent time resolution of 164ps has been observed at 6 mbar in isobutene gas. With the excellent time resolution of Dual-PPACs detector, exact neutron energy can be extracted from the timing measurement. The experimental detection efficiency was 1.9 × 10-7, consistent with the efficiency of 2.5 × 10-7 given by a Geant4 simulation. Ultimately, the results show that the Dual-PPACs detector is a suitable candidate for measuring fast neutrons in the future CiADS system.
Background: Ginsenoside compound K(C-K), a major metabolite of ginsenoside, exhibits anticancer activity in various cancer cells and animal models. A cell signaling study has shown that C-K inhibited nuclear factor-kappa B ($NF-{\kappa}B$) pathway in human astroglial cells and liver cancer cells. However, the molecular targets of C-K and the initiating events were not elucidated. Methods: Interaction between C-K and Annexin A2 was determined by molecular docking and thermal shift assay. HepG2 cells were treated with C-K, followed by a luciferase reporter assay for $NF-{\kappa}B$, immunofluorescence imaging for the subcellular localization of Annexin A2 and $NF-{\kappa}B$ p50 subunit, coimmunoprecipitation of Annexin A2 and $NF-{\kappa}B$ p50 subunit, and both cell viability assay and plate clone formation assay to determine the cell viability. Results: Both molecular docking and thermal shift assay positively confirmed the interaction between Annexin A2 and C-K. This interaction prevented the interaction between Annexin A2 and $NF-{\kappa}B$ p50 subunit and their nuclear colocalization, which attenuated the activation of $NF-{\kappa}B$ and the expression of its downstream genes, followed by the activation of caspase 9 and 3. In addition, the overexpression of Annexin A2-K320A, a C-K binding-deficient mutant of Annexin A2, rendered cells to resist C-K treatment, indicating that C-K exerts its cytotoxic activity mainly by targeting Annexin A2. Conclusion: This study for the first time revealed a cellular target of C-K and the molecular mechanism for its anticancer activity.
