In this paper, the heat transfer coefficient measurement techniques using TSP(temperature sensitive paint) were introduced and the results of a comparative study on the heat transfer coefficient measurement by steady state and transient TSP techniques were discussed. The distributions of heat transfer coefficient by a single $60^{\circ}$ inclined impingement jet on a flat surface were measured by both techniques. Tested Reynolds number based on the jet diameter (d) was 30,000 and the distance between jet exit and target plate (L) was fixed at 10d. Results showed that the measured Nusselt number by both techniques indicated significant difference except near the center of impingement jet. Also, the heat transfer coefficients measured by the transient TSP technique were affected by the reference temperature of the jet. Based on the measured data, characteristics of both TSP techniques were analyzed and suggestions for applying them were also given.
This study deals with the truing of diamond wheel fur the manufacture of micro v-shaped grooves with fine sharp edges in the grinding. Fine micro v-shaped grooves are key components to fabricate LGP(light guide plate), optical fiber connector and so on. Conventional v-shaped groove methods such as etching and lithography are difficult to make grooves with accuracy and cutting by lathe is difficult to select target materials. Therefore, as a preliminary stage to developing the grinding technology that will be expected fabrications for micro 3-dimensional structure of high effectivity and accuracy and freed up the restrictions of machinability to the materials for micro v-shaped grooves, truing is carried out with resin bond diamond wheel and electroforming diamond wheel using a cup-type truer. From the experimental results, it is found that the effects according to working direction of the cup-type truer and the restrainable methods of plastic deformation that is generated at wheel edge are examined. As a result, fine micro v-shaped diamond wheel was obtained, which are applicable to micro grinding for optical devices.
Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is one of the most prevalent congenital craniofacial anomalies. It has a significantly greater incidence of dental abnormalities in number, size, shape, and eruption of the teeth. Knout-out mouse model can identify several genes which play an important role in tooth agenesis. Since disruption of these genes has been confirmed to result in tooth agenesis in humans, CLP associated with hypodontia may be the best models for isolated tooth agenesis. According to the studies of dental abnormalities in CLP, the severity of dental defect is known to be influenced by the CLP phenotype. The cumulative data obtained from mouse and human genetic studies indicated that MSX1, PAX9 and AXIN2 are considered as candidate genes in non-syndromic hypodontia, while Shh, Pitx2, Irf6, p63 and EDA pathway genes are involved in syndromic one. We expect that genetic approach of CLP can offer the basis for tooth regeneration and be a new target in hypodontia therapy.
In this paper, the UV corona camera was developed using the solar blind and Multi Channel Plate(MCP) technology for the target localization of UV camera. UV camera developed a $6.4^{\circ}{\times}4.8^{\circ}$ of the field of view as a conventional camera to diagnose a wide range of slightly enlarged, and power equipment to measure the distance between the camera and the distance meter has been attached. The UV camera was developed and measured using a UV image, as applied voltage increased ultraviolet images of the phenomenon could be obtained. And we investigated properties of UV corona image on insulator in salt water environments. From the results, the breakdown voltage was decreased and UV images were taken at low voltages and the UV image is rapidly increased with increasing High voltage.
A bulk-type Ta material is fabricated using the kinetic spray process and its microstructure and physical properties are investigated. Ta powder with an angular size in the range $9-37{\mu}m$ (purity 99.95%) is sprayed on a Cu plate to form a coating layer. As a result, ~7 mm-sized bulk-type high-density material capable of being used as a sputter material is fabricated. In order to assess the physical properties of the thick coating layer at different locations, the coating material is observed at three different locations (surface, center, and interface). Furthermore, a vacuum heat treatment is applied to the coating material to reduce the variation of physical properties at different locations of the coating material and improve the density. OM, Vickers hardness test, SEM, XRD, and EBSD are implemented for analyzing the microstructure and physical properties. The fabricated Ta coating material produces porosity of 0.11~0.12%, hardness of 311~327 Hv, and minor variations at different locations. In addition, a decrease in the porosity and hardness is observed at different locations upon heat treatment.
In this paper, the double inverted pendulum having a single actuator is built and the controller for the system is proposed. The lower link of the target pendulum system is hinged on the plate to free for rotation in the specified range($10^{\cire}$) on the x-z plane. The upper link is connected to the lower link through a DC motor. The double inverted pendulum built can be kept upright posture by controlling the position of the upper link even though it has no actuator in lower hinge. The algorithm to control the inverted pendulum consists of a state feedback controller within a linearizable range and a fuzzy logic controller coupled with a nonlinear feedback compensator for the rest of the range. Conventional state feedback control is employed, and the fuzzy controller is responsible for generating the reference joint angle of the upper link for the nonlinear feedback compensator which drives a DC motor to generate an indirect torque to the lower joint. As a result, we can get the upright posture of the proposed pendulum system. Simulations and experiments are conducted to show the validity of the proposed controller.
This paper deals with the topology optimized design of the riser support structures for floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs) under global and local loading conditions. For a preliminary study and validation of the numerical approach, a simplified plate under static loading is first evaluated with the representative topology optimization methods, the Homogenization Design Method (HDM) and Density Method (DM) or Simple Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP). In the context of the corresponding riser support structures, the design problem is formulated such that structure shapes based on design domain variables are determined by minimizing the compliance subject to a mass target, considering the stress criterion. An initial design model is generated based on an actual FPSO riser support configuration. The topology optimization results present improved design performances under various loading conditions, while staying within the allowable limit of the offshore area.
Experimental and numerical analysis on the heat transfer behaviors and the associated frictional loss in a rectangular channel with two inclined perforated baffles($\;5^{\circ}$) mounted on the bottom plate has been systematically performed. The parametric effects of perforated baffles (3, 6, 9 holes) and flow Reynolds number on heat transfer characteristics of the heated target surface are explored. A combination of two baffles of same overall size was considered and the flow Reynolds number for this study is varied between 28,900 and 61,800. Comparisons of the experimental data with the numerical results by commercial code CFX 5.7 are made. As for the investigation of heat transfer behaviors on local Nusselt number with the two baffles installed at $x/D_h=0.8\;and\;x/D_h=8.0$, it is evident that there exist an optimum perforation density to maximize heat transfer coefficients; i.e., the maximum Nusselt number decreases with increasing number of holes.

Gas piping systems in power plants and factories are always influenced by the mechanical vibrations of rotational machines such as pumps, blowers, and compressors. Unusual vibrations in a gas piping system influence possible leakages of liquids or gases, which can lead to large explosive accidents. Real-time measurements of unusual vibrations in piping systems in situ prohibit them from being possible leakages owing to the repeated fatigue of vibrations. In this paper, a non-contact 3-dimensional measurement system that can detect the vibrations of a solid body and monitor its vibrational modes is introduced. To detect the displacements of a body, a stereoscopic camera system is used, through which the major vibration types of solid bodies (such as X-axis-major, Y-axis-major, and Z-axis-major vibrations) can be monitored. In order to judge the vibration types, an artificial neural network is used. The measurement system consists of a host computer, stereoscopic camera system (two-camera system, high-speed high-resolution camera), and a measurement target. Through practical application on a flat plate, the measured data from the non-contact measurement system showed good agreement with those from the original vibration mode produced by an accelerator.
In recent year, Ferroelectric $BLT(Bi_{4-x}La_{x}Ti_{3}O_{12})$ is a promising candidate materials. This study was practiced to make good conditions of BL T targets. In this study, calcination and sintering temperature were kept at $750^{\circ}C$, $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 hour respectively. the density obtained 7.612, 7.98, $7.877g/cm^{3}$ as $La_{2}O_{3}$ contents were 0.0mol%, 0.25mol%, 0.5mol%. Especially, the lanthanum content of 0.5 mol% measured C-axis (117) preferred orientation more than the others targets in the XRD. In $\varepsilon_{r}-f$ relationship using by HP 4194 A impedance analyzer, the 0.5 mol% observed above 200 relative dielectric constant. but the dissipation factor was higher than others targets at 100Hz~13MHz range. SEM photograph with the content of $La_{2}O_{3}$ was observed like rod and plate types.
