Designation of the Boundary Conditions for Estimating the Thrust Loss due to Thruster-Hull Interactions

  • The azimuth thruster is mainly installed on a vessel that requires a dynamic positioning (DP) function for special purposes. When the azimuth thruster on a vessel operates for DP, the thrust loss is induced by the thruster-hull interaction. This study examined the influence of boundary conditions in numerical simulations for predicting thrust loss. Wind turbine installation vessels (WTIV) and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) were chosen as a target vessels. In this study, two types of boundaries were defined. The first consideration is that the boundary condition was assigned with consideration of the azimuth angle of the thruster, whereas it is fixed regardless azimuth angle of the thruster. The predicted thrust loss according to these boundary conditions showed a difference. This observation originated from the current load of the vessel. Therefore, the boundary conditions for which the current load is not induced need to be designated to obtain a realistic thrust loss in a numerical simulation.

  • Hydrogen is bridge fuel with high energy content and environmentally friendly to satisfy the stringent IMO regulation relating to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. There is growing interest in hydrogen in numerous nations and regions illustrated by an extensive range of research and development in technology. Regarding maritime applications, researchers have recognized the utilization of hydrogen as a fuel for fuel cells, a device that converts the chemical energy of the fuel to electrical energy. Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), with high working temperature, is easy to combine with the waste heat recovery cycles/devices to increase output power and thermodynamic performances as well. Furthermore, the cold energy from liquid hydrogen supplied to SOFC can also be used to generate more power. In this study, we proposed a SOFC integrated system with the idea of combining the waste heat recovery from the SOFC exhaust stream and cold energy utilization from LH2. The designation is aimed to target small-scale vessel which uses electric propulsion for short distances voyage.

지방어항개발의 투자결정요인 분석 - 충청남도 어항 중심으로 - (A Study on Decisions on Investment Factors in the Development of Local Fishing Harbors)

  • In the recent WTO/DDA negotiations, discussions are progressing to forbid fishery subsidies which have negative effect on the natural environment and the fishery resources and to lower or to eliminate the tariff/non-tariff barriers that distort trade liberalization. As a result, linking to the weak structural environment of Korea's fishing villages; such a scheme has jeopardized the livelihood of fishermen who settle down in local fishing harbors. Against this backdrop, the government is attempting to positively respond to changes in the fishing environment in a number of different ways: promotion of fishing tourism, fishing harbor reinforcement in function, developing fishing villages, and harbors. With respect to investment by priority in fishing harbor development, it is very important to appropriately select investment targets based on objective criteria. A small number of harbors are chosen and investment plans by harbor are systematically devised, economic feasibility and the effects of investment are analyzed and reviewed in relation to each target harbor. This paper is designed to review and assess objective evaluation methods and the degree of importance for the designation of target harbors, dealing with local harbors in Chung Nam Do as a model. Each local government has tried to reorganize existing harbors and develop new harbors, considering a fall in the number of fishing vessels and the expansion of maritime leisure activities. In order to overcome the limit of existing harbors in function, to raise the income of fishermen, and to activate tourism, they have shifted their focus from simple functions such as vessel evacuation and anchoring to harbor beautification, which can work as a basis for fishing tourism. This paper points out that the AHP analysis method for prioritizing local harbors in Chung Nam Do should help to be chosen target harbors in other cities and provinces. Each local government has attempted to reorganize existing harbors and to develop new harbors, taking into consideration the decline in the number of fishing vessels and the expansion of maritime leisure activities. 택지개발사업의 환경친화적 대안평가모형 구축 (Alternative Evaluation Model in the Development of Environment-friendly Residential Land)

  • 최근 들어 택지개발사업이 크게 증가하는 추세이지만, 무분별한 택지개발은 개발대상 부지의 기존 녹지나 수목을 훼손시키게 되며 지형에도 많은 변화를 가져와 절개지가 발생하게 하는 등 환경을 많이 훼손하고 있다. 택지개발 등 개발사업을 시행할 때 지구지정시 수행하는 사전환경성검토제도와 개발계획의 승인전 협의를 하게 되어 있는 환경영향평가제도가 있다. 사전환경성검토는 택지개발계획 수립 후에 시행하며 환경영향평가는 실시설계 완료 후에 수행하기 때문에 선정된 택지개발지에서 발생할 수 있는 환경문제에 대한 저감방안 강구 등 소극적이고 수동적인 대처에 그치는 경우가 많다. 본 논문의 목적은 초기 입지선정단계에서 택지개발사업을 환경친화적으로 지속가능하게 수행할 수 있도록 대안평가모형을 구축하는 것이다. 이를 위해 선행연구에서 조사된 택지개발사업의 환경평가요인을 바탕으로 퍼지추론과 AHP기법을 이용하여 대안평가 모형을 구축하였다. 의사결정자가 각 대안의 환경훼손도를 10점 척도법에 의해 평가하면 퍼지추론에 의해 환경성능(EP: Environmental Performance)으로 변환하고, AHP기법에 의해 미리 산정된 항목별 가중치를 적용하여 통합환경성능(TEP: Total Environmental Performance)을 산정한다. 통합환경성능이 가장 높은 대안이 최적안으로 선택된다. 이 연구에서 제시한 평가방법을 적용하면 토지이용계획이 확정되지 않은 상태에서 두 가지 이상의 택지개발 예정지역 대안을 정량적으로 평가할 수 있을 것이다. 이로써 택지개발 사업시행으로 발생할 수 있는 환경훼손을 초기 입지단계에서 확인하여 환경오염을 원천적으로 제거해 나갈 수 있을 것이다.

비점오염원 관리지역(소양호) 목표수질 달성도 평가 (Assessing the Action Plans in the Control Area(Soyang Reservoir) of Non-point Source Pollution)

  • The Ministry of Environment (MOE) has made more effort in managing point source pollution rather than in nonpoint source pollution in order to improve water quality of the four major rivers. However, it would be difficult to meet water quality targets solely by managing the point source pollution. As a result of the comprehensive measures established in 2004 under the leadership of the Prime Minister's Office, a variety of policies such as the designation of control areas to manage nonpoint source pollution are now in place. Various action plans to manage nonpoint source pollution have been implemented in the Soyang-dam watershed as one of the control areas designed in 2007. However, there are no tools to comprehensively assess the effectiveness of the action plans. Therefore, this study would assess the action plans (especially, BMPs) designed to manage Soyang-dam watershed with the WinHSPF and the CE-QUAL-W2. To this end, we simulated the rainfall-runoff and the water quality (SS) of the watershed and the reservoir after conducting model calibration and the model validation. As the results of the calibration for the WinHSPF, the determination coefficient ($R^2$) for the flow (Q, $m^3/s$) was 0.87 and the $R^2$ for the SS was 0.78. As the results of the validation, the former was 0.78 and the latter was 0.67. The results seem to be acceptable. Similarly, the calibration results of the CE-QUAL-W2 showed that the RMSE for the water level was 1.08 and the RMSE for the SS was 1.11. The validation results(RMSE) of the water level was 1.86 and the SS was 1.86. Based on the daily simulation results, the water quality target (turbidity 50 NTU) was not exceeded for 2009~2011, as results of maximum turbidity in '09, '10, and '11 were 3.1, 2.5, 5.6 NTU, respectively. The maximum turbidity in the years with the maximum, the minimum, and the average of yearly precipitation (1982~2011) were 15.5, 7.8, and 9.0, respectively, and therefore the water quality target was satisfied. It was discharged high turbidity at Inbuk, Gaa, Naerin, Gwidun, Woogak, Jeongja watershed resulting of the maximum turbidity by sub-basins in 3years(2009~2011). The results indicated that the water quality target for the nonpoint source pollution management should be changed and management area should be adjusted and reduced.

곶자왈 지역의 의약물질과 농약의 오염수준과 생태독성영향 (Contamination Levels of Pharmaceuticals and Pesticides in the Gotjawal Regions of Jeju Island and Associated Ecotoxicities)

  • Objective: Gotjawal refers to a special geographical designation found in Jeju Province, Korea, where vegetation forms over a rocky area. Due to the important ecological value of Gotjawal, international concern about such areas is growing. However, only limited information is available regarding environmental contamination of Gotjawal. This study was conducted in order to investigate the levels of contamination and associated ecotoxicological effects of surface water bodies in Gotjawal. Methods: Surface water samples were collected at three sampling sites in two Gotjawal areas and were analyzed for several pharmaceuticals and pesticides in consideration of the potential sources of contamination. The ecotoxicity of the samples was measured using water fleas (Daphnia magna and Moina macrocopa) and zebrafish (Danio rerio). In addition, effects on the gene transcription of zebrafish were investigated following exposure to the samples. Results: Nine pharmaceuticals were detected in the samples, but none of the target pesticides were detected. Following acute exposure to two surface water samples, the survival of waterfleas was significantly reduced, but reproduction was not affected. In zebrafish, time-to-hatch was delayed and fry survival was decreased in some samples. On the other hand, at the transcriptional level, there were no genes significantly influenced by exposure to the samples. Conclusion: This is the first study investigating environmental contamination in Gotjawal areas and associated ecotoxicities. Further studies are warranted to identify the cause of acute Daphnia toxicity and to determine potential consequences of longer-term exposure in Gotjawal areas.

우주센터 발사통제시스템의 추적연동정보 처리기능 구현 (Implementation of Slaving Data Processing Function for Mission Control System in Space Center)

  • 나로호 발사임무에서 추적장비에서 취득된 실시간 정보는 발사통제시스템의 처리를 거쳐서 비행안전 및 비행상태 감시 관련 운용자에 공급되어진다. 또한, 처리된 발사체의 위치정보는 각 추적 장비들의 추적 실패 시 재추적 시도를 위한 추적연동정보로 공급됨과 동시에 비행안전 감시의 목적으로 사용되어진다. 본 논문에서는 추적임무 수행에 가장 중요한 역할을 수행하는 추적연동정보 처리기능의 설계를 제안하였다. 가용한 모든 발사체 위치정보를 수집, 처리후 최적 위치정보를 선정하고 처리 과정에서 발생된 시간 지연 성분을 보상하여 각 추적시스템으로 분배한다. 추적연동정보의 처리의 정확성을 위하여 표준시각에서 추출한 25 ms 주기의 타임틱 신호를 기준으로 모든 처리 모듈의 동작이 동기화 된다. 제안한 방법의 정확도를 검증하기 위하여 레이더를 통해 수신한 위치정보와의 비교를 수행하였으며 그 오차는 평균 0.01도 이하로 나타났다.

농촌 초등교육시설의 통폐합에 따른 통학접근성을 고려한 교육형평성 평가 (Evaluating Educational Fairness of Commuting Distances for Rural Villages following the Closing of Elementary Schools)

  • Although educational facilities are important considerations from a social equity standpoint, the educational environment generally found in rural areas has been continuously deteriorated due to numerous social problems following birth rate declines and school abolition numbers. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the commuting accessibility changed by the abolition of elementary schools. The village-level accessibility is assessed following physical accessibility criteria based on legally defined commuting distances. Moreover, this study shows the implications of commuting accessibility by school district zones through comparing the minimum commuting distances with real commuting distance. The target area is the Gangwon state, the coverage area in which for schools is the widest in South Korea (44.1 ㎢/school). We evaluated the commuting distances to the nearest elementary school for 992 rural villages and 74 urban villages. Of the 1,066 villages in urban and rural areas evaluated, most of the villages (about 77%) are exposed to commutes to elementary schools were the marginal distance is over 1,000 meters. The annual rate of increase of commuting distance for 1,066 villages in Gangwon state has steadily increased by 2.8%p since 2000, average commuting distance from 2.8 km to 3.6 km. By the designation of the school districts, elementary school students have to go to a faraway school located within administrative district, even though there is a school nearby. It is expected that the results of this study will be made use of as basic data for the establishment of policies such as a reasonable basis for closing schools measurements considering the locally unique environment.

브랜드 남녀 공용 스웨트셔츠 치수체계 분석 (Analysis of the Branded Unisex Sweatshirt Sizing System)

  • In this study, the sizing systems of 40 unisex sweatshirt brands were analyzed to collect the size information needed to produce unisex clothing. Each size specification was compared with the body size distribution and percentiles of men and women aged 18 to 29. Depending on the brand, unisex sweatshirt sizes ranged from 1 to 8. Despite being unisex apparel, three brands offered only one or two sizes. Out of the brands surveyed, 50% were found to offer four or five sizes. Out of the 40 brands, 25 used letters such as "S," "M," and "L" to indicate the size designation. More than 92.5% of the brands included M and L, and the sizing system tended to focus on larger sizes such as XL and 2XL rather than smaller sizes such as XS and S. The size specifications of shoulder width, chest circumference, sleeve length, and total length were compared with the body size distribution and percentiles of men and women aged 18 to 29. The distribution of each size specification mostly appeared in a section larger than the men's body size. The size specifications of unisex sweatshirts were set close to or larger than men's sizes and hardly represented women's sizes. To increase consumer satisfaction with unisex clothing, establishing a size standard that could accurately reflect the body size distribution of men and women was found to be imperative. Such a size standard could also help each brand specify or diversify its target and differentiate itself with other brands.

수도권 보금자리주택 대상계층의 지불가능성 분석: 공공분양, 10년임대, 분납임대주택을 중심으로 (A Study on Affordability of Bogeumzari Housing in Metropolitan Area: Focused on Public Sales Housing, 10-Year Rental Housing, and Shared-ownership Housing)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 대상계층을 설정하고 유형별 공공주택을 공급하는 보금자리주택을 평가해 보기 위한 것이다. 특히 수도권 보금자리지구가 지정되고 보금자리주택 공급이 발표되면서, 정책대상계층의 접근성에 대한 논의가 불거졌는데, 본 연구에서는 등장한 여러 논의 중에서 두 가지에 주목하였다. 하나는 주변시세애 비해 과도하게 낮게 책정된 분양가 혹은 임대료로 인해 청약에 당첨된 입주자에게 역시 과도한 개발이익 수혜가 돌아가는 것이 아니냐는 것이고, 다른 하나는 그렇게 낮게 책정된 분양가 혹은 임대료라고 하더라도 일부 지역의 경우 주변 시세가 워낙 높아, 저소득층이나 무주택 서민인 정책대상계층이 접근하는 것이 쉬울 것인가 하는 것이다. 두 가지 논의는 완전히 다른 것 같으면서도 다르지 않다. 상대적인 가격에서는 우위를 점하지만, 절대적인 가격에서는 여전히 낮지 않다고 보는 것이기 때문이다. 본 연구는 이 두 가지 논의에 착안하여 분석을 시도하였다. 특히 보금자리주택은 저소득층을 위한 장기공공임대주택(국민임대주택, 영구임대주택 등) 뿐 아니라 공공분양주택과 유사한 역할을 하는 10년임대주택과 분납임대주택도 존재하는 점을 감안하여 이 세 가지 유형에 대해 정책대상계층의 지불가능성이 어느 정도인지 파악하고자 하였다. 유형별, 지역별, 면적별 지불가능성의 차이를 비교해 봄으로써 기존의 논의에 대한 의문을 어느 정도 해결해 보려고 했으며, 향후 공공주택 공급 프로그램과 관련한 정책적 시사점도 도출해 보고자 하였다.
