  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of taping technique applied to knee instability. Design: Cross sectional study. Methods: Twenty-six participants with knee instabilityparticipated in this study. They were randomly assigned to the Kinesio taping (KT) group (n=13) and the dynamic taping (DT) group (n=13). Both groups applied knee stabilization taping techniques. In order to compare the effects of each taping technique, the change in the landing error scoring system (LESS) and lower extremity joint angle wasrecorded before and after the intervention. Results: Both groups significantly decreased in the change before and after the LESS (p<0.05). At the joint angle of the lower extremities, KT group significantly reduced the valgus angle at the max knee flexion (p<0.05). In DT group knee joint flexion and hip joint flexion angles were significantly increased at foot contact (p<0.05). In max knee flexion, the knee joint flexion angle was significantly increased (p<0.05). In foot contact, max knee flexion, the knee joint valgus angle was significantly increased (p<0.05). DT group showed more significant changes in knee joint flexion angle at foot contact and hip joint flexion angle at max knee flexion. Conclusions: Dynamic taping is a clinically applicable intervention method for lowering the risk of non-contact injury in participants with knee instability and for knee stability during rehabilitation exercises.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this research is to review the efficacy and safety of taping therapy for facial palsy. Methods : Two foreign databases(Pubmed, CNKI) and one domestic database(OASIS) were used to search, and papers retrieved from the starting point of literature provision in each database until June 19, 2023 were included in the study. All studies in which other treatments were performed as a treatment intervention along with taping therapy were included, but cases where taping therapy was a comparative intervention were excluded. Results : 18 studies were selected. 14 studies were two-arm randomized controlled trials(RCT), and 4 studies were case reports. There was improvement in facial palsy in all 4 case reports, and in all 14 RCTs, the treatment effect in the observation group was significantly higher than in the control group. Conclusions : Taping therapy can be an effective and safe treatment method for facial palsy. However, the risk of bias in the selected studies was high, and there were many cases in which multiple interventions other than taping therapy were applied simultaneously. Therefore, well-designed studies with high quality are needed in the future.

Method: This study was conducted with a non-equivalent control-group pre-test and post-test design. Data were collected conveniently with 63 elderly who had having(a) pain due to degenerative knee arthritis, and (b) inconvenience in daily life(30 for an experimental group and 33 for a control group). The subjects were recruited from the elderly, participating in welfare programs held in a welfare organization and day-care facilities. The experimental group received an intervention of taping therapy offered twice a week, for 4 weeks. The data collection from the experimental group was done from the beginning of the therapy throughout two weeks later after the end of the therapy. Results: For the experimental group, pain scores came to more decreased significantly, as the periods in which taping therapy was conducted were getting longer. Physical function scores became also more decreased at significantly level, as taping therapy was more conducted. However, compared to the control group, the score change for the experimental was not significantly showed in physical function after the therapy ended. That is, there was no longer-lasting effect on physical function improvement. Conclusion: This study found that this therapy could be a useful self-management method that the elderly with degenerative knee arthritis can use easily at home. Because of insignificant result in longer-lasting effect, this taping therapy would be applied properly with the interval of 2~3days.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of a combined non elastic taping and lumbar stabilizing exercise against lumbar stabilizing exercise only during the lumbar stabilizing exercise in chronic low back pain. METHOD: Thirty-one patients of low back pain were randomly allocated to 2 groups: lumbar stabilizing exercise group (n=16) and nonelastic taping group(n=15) with lumbar stabilizing exercise. Taping and stabilizing exercise were performed twice a week for 4 weeks. The patients were assessed using by visual analog scale (VAS) and Korean version of Oswestry disability index (KODI). The measurements of each patients were measured before the intervention and 2 weeks post-experiment and 4weeks after the intervention. All data were analyzed using by SPSS 12.0 software for Window, the experimental data was analyzed using by paired samples t-test and repeated ANOVA. All statistical tests in this study were conducted at the .05 level of significance. RESULTS: The results of this study are in the nonelastic taping group, significant difference were found in th VAS between pre-test and post-test (p<.05). In addition, there were significant differences in the VAS between the two groups at post-test(p<.05). And in the nonelastic taping group, significant difference were found in the KODI between pre-test and post-test (p<.05). However, there were no significant differences in the KODI between the two groups at post-test (p<.05). CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that combination of nonelastic taping and lumbar stabilizing exercise is more effective for low back pain than stabilizing exercise alone. In conclusion, this study indicates that stabilizing exercise combined with nonelastic taping would be recommended in the clinic.

  • A filtration-taping method was demonstrated to fabricate carbon nanotube (CNT) emitters. This method shows many good features, including high mechanical adhesion, good electrical contact, low temperature, organic-free, low cost, large size, and suitability for various CNT materials and substrates. These good features promise an advanced field emission performance with a turn-on field of $0.88V/{\mu}m$ at a current density of $0.1{\mu}A/cm^2$, a threshold field of $1.98V/{\mu}m$ at a current density of $1mA/cm^2$, and a good stability of over 20 h. The filtration-taping technique is an effective way to realize low-cost, large-size, and high-performance CNT emitters.
