A Study on Individual Tap-Power Estimation for Improvement of Adaptive Equalizer Performance

  • In this paper we analyze convergence constraints and time constant of IT-LMS algorithm and derive a method of making it's time constant independent of signal power by using input variance estimation. The method for estimating the input variance is to use a single-pole low-pass filter(LPF) with common smoothing parameter value, θ. The estimator is with narrow bandwidth for large θ but with wide bandwidth for small θ. This small θ gives long term average estimation(low frequency) of the fluctuating input variance well as short term variations (high frequency) of the input power. In our simulations of multipath communication channel equalization environments, the method with large θ has shown not as much improved convergence speed as the speed of the original IT-LMS algorithm. The proposed method with small θ=0.01 reach its minimum MSE in 100 samples whereas the IT-LMS converges in 200 samples. This shows the proposed, tap-power normalized IT-LMS algorithm can be applied more effectively to digital wireless communication systems.

  • 이동무선통신환경에서의 다중경로 레일레이 페이딩 채널은 선형 필터 모델로 나타내어 질 수 있고, 지연 경로의 특성에 따라 필터 탭 중 일부만이 수신기 설계에 있어 중요하게 고려될 수 있다. 지연경로를 나타내는 탭 계수의 크기에 따라 채널 등화기에서 선택적으로 탭을 사용함으로써 수신기의 복잡도를 감소시키고 사용 전력을 줄이는 효과를 가져오게 된다. 본 논문에서는 주어진 채널의 선형 필터 모델에서 최적의 방법으로 탭을 선택하는 방법을 제시하고, 기존의 방법과 비교하여 성능 향상을 보였다. 또한 잡음 전력 값에 대한 정보가 있는 경우, 제시된 방법은 CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) 판별의 장점을 가지게 됨을 보이고, 잡음 전력을 추정했을 시의 성능을 정확한 수식으로 유도하였다. 잡음 전력 추정을 위한 잡음 샘플 수를 증가시킴에 따라 빠른 속도로 최적 성능으로 수렴함을 유도된 수식과 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 확인하였다.

Real-Time Identification and Estimation of Transformer Tap Ratios Containing Errors

  • This paper addresses the issue of parameter error identification and estimation in electric power systems. Parameter error identification and estimation is carried out as a part of the state estimation. A two stage estimation procedure is used to detect and identify parameter errors. Suspected parameters are identified by the WLAV state estimator in the first stage. A new WLAV state estimator adding suspected system parameters in the state vector is used to estimate the exact values of parameters. Supporting examples are given by using the IEEE 14 bus system.

  • This paper addresses the issues of the parameter error detection and identification in power system. The parameter error identification is carried out as part of the state estimation procedure. The weighted least absolute value(WLAV) estimation method is used for this procedure. The standard formulation of the state estimation problem is modified to include the effects of the parameter errors as well. A two step procedure for the detection and identification of faulted parameters is proposed. Supporting examples are given using IEEE 14 bus system.

  • In this paper, a new algorithm of Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC) is proposed using Volt/Var control for the Distribution Automation System (DAS) based on the modeling of the distributed load and the distributed current. In the proposed, the load flow based on the modeling of the distributed load with Distributed Generation and the distributed current are estimated from constants of four terminals using the measurement of the current and power factor from a Feeder Remote Terminal Unit (FRTU). For Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC), the gradient method is applied to find optimal solution for tap and capacity control of OLTC (On-Load Tap Changers), SVR (Step Voltage Regulator), and SC (Shunt Condenser). What is more Volt/Var control method is proposed using moving the tie switch as well as IVVC algorithm using power utility control. In the case studies, the estimation and simulation network have been testified in Matlab Simulink.

For the optimal Volt/Var Control, the gradient method is applied to find optimal solution for tap, capacity and power control of OLTC (On-Load Tap Changers), SVR (Step Voltage Regulator), PC (Power Condenser) and DG (Distributed Generation). In the case studies, the estimation and control of the voltages have been testified in a radial distribution system with DG using matlab program.

  • The accuracy of channel estimation significantly affects the performance of coherent OFDM receiver. It is desirable to employ a good channel estimator while requiring low implementation complexity. In this paper, we propose a channel estimator that employs a simple two-dimensional (2-D) moving average (MA) filter as the channel estimation filter. The optimum tap size of the 2-D MA FIR filter is analytically designed in the time and frequency domain in association with the channel condition and pilot signal to interference power ratio. The analytic results can be applied to the design of adaptive channel estimator. Finally, the performance of the proposed channel estimator is verified by computer simulation.

  • 공동주택은 장기수선충당금제도 등에 따라 중 장기적인 관점에서 효율적인 유지관리가 수행되고 있는 반면, 공공청사는 과거 유지관리비 실적자료 부족과 비효율적인 예산산정 등의 문제로 인해 유지관리가 체계적으로 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 인천지역의 공공청사를 대상으로 운영비의 영향요인을 분석하고, 이를 검증하기 위해 상관관계 분석 및 다중회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 공공청사의 전기, 가스, 수도요금에 대한 경과년수, 연면적, 직원 수의 영향력을 분석한 결과, 전기요금은 직원 수와 높은 상관성을 보였으며 가스, 수도요금은 연면적과 상관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다중회귀 분석을 통해 상관관계 분석결과를 검증하였으며, 회귀 방정식을 통해 운영비용의 추정모형을 제시하였다.
