SenseMessenger : The Haptic Sense Generator based on Motion Recording (센스메신져 : 움직임 패턴 기반 햅틱 재생 장치)

  • In this paper, we propose "SenseMessenger" as a novel interaction method to capture and play tactile sense to let users feel enhanced sense experience. To improve this, we reconstructed the process of making cocktail to be digitalized for reinforcing the quality of user's experience, and designed cup-shaped devices, Sense Messenger, which is consist of Sense-recorder, Sense-player, and Sense-table. And, using these devices with common users, we discussed future applications.

  • 본 연구에서는 로저스의 개혁확산이론(Rogers, 2003)과 데이비스의 기술수용모형(Davis, 1989)을 바탕으로 실감공간기술에 대한 잠재적 사용자의 태도를 분석하였다. 개혁확산이론과 기술수용모형을 바탕으로 한 선행 연구들을 통해 새로운 미디어의 채택에 영향을 미치는 다양한 요인들을 고찰할 수 있었다. 개혁확신이론을 통해서는 개인의 심리적 수준은 물론 인구통계학적 수준, 사회적 수준 등 다양한 요인과 그 하부 요인이 도출되었으며, 기술수용모형을 통해서는 개혁확산이론을 통해 도출된 다양한 변인들이 실감공간기술에 적용될 수 있다는 가설을 설계할 수 있었다. 개혁확산 이론과 기술수용모형을 통해 이미 설명된 기존의 뉴미디어들과 달리 실감공간기술이 개발 진행 중이라는 점과 그 다양한 발전 가능성이라는 특징을 고려했을 때, 실감공간기술의 확산을 어떻게 예측하고 설명할 수 있는지 고찰하는 것 또한 본 연구의 목적이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 실감공간기술에 대한 잠재적 사용자들의 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인의 영향력을 살펴봄으로써 실감공간기술의 다양한 활용 방안에 대하여 모색하였다.

Impact of Societal Participation on Customer Satisfaction: Economic-Environmental Analysis from Saudi Banks

  • This study aimed to measure the impact of societal participation of Saudi banks on customer satisfaction and determine the statistical differences in customer satisfaction according to sex, age, income, education, and work type. Societal participation has economic and environmental dimensions. The study population includes all Saudis in the government, military, and private sectors reaching 3.58 million in 2021. The unit of analysis is Saudi customers of commercial banks. The 12 banks have societal programs. The research tool is a "Questionnaire," It is distributed face-to-face at places of work. The study concludes that economic participation has no impact on customer satisfaction; however, the impact of environmental participation on customer satisfaction is proved. The study shows no statistical differences in customer satisfaction according to mediators (sex, age, income, education, and work type). Despite the environmental participation being the tangible product by Saudi banks in the local market, the study concludes the positive relationship between societal participation and customer satisfaction. The study presents a set of recommendations for enhancing societal participation in the Saudi businesses environment.

  • 정보 과학 기술의 발전과 생활 수준의 향상이 가속화되면서 주변 환경을 구성하는 가구나 공간조차도 정보 통신과 컴퓨터 기능이 내재된 인간과 상호작용할 수 있는 개념으로 확장되고 있다. 또한 비즈니스의 규모가 방대해지면서 협업이 필요성이 증가되는 가운데 단일 사용자에게 맞춰진 표준 데스크탑을 대체할 새로운 기기와 인터페이스에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이런 패러다임에 맞춰 선호되고 있는 테이블탑 컴퓨팅을 다수의 LCD와 PC를 포함하는 분산 하드웨어 방식의 고해상도 대형 디스플레이로 구성하고, 다중 사용자의 입력을 동시적으로 처리할 수 있는 적외선 카메라를 활용한 마커 인식 기반의 탠저블 인터페이스를 개발하였다. 그리고 이 시스템에서 동작하는 고해상도 이미지 뷰어와 퍼베이스브 블록 격파 게임 응용프로그램을 구현하였다.

  • Introducing human capacities of control and sensation which have been overlooked into Human-Computer Interaction(HCI), Ubiquitous computing, Augmented Reality and others have been researched recently. New vision of HCI has embodied in Tangible User Interface(TUI). TUI allows users to grasp and manipulate bits with everyday physical object and architectural surface and also TUI enables user to be aware of background object at the periphery of human perception using ambient display media such of light, sound, airflow and water movement. Tangibles, physical object which constitutes TUI system, is the physical object embodied digital bit. Tangibles is not only input device but also the configuration of computing. To get feedback of computing result, user controls the system with Tangibles as action and the system represents reaction in response to User's action. User appreciates digital representation (sound, graphic information) and physical representation (form, size, location, direction etc.) for reaction. TUI's characters require the consideration about both user's action and system's reaction. Therefore we have to need the method to be concerned about physical object and interaction which can be combined with action, reaction and feedback.

  • We introduce an introductory engineering education course for engineering majors and non-engineering majors. This course does not require any previous knowledge and experience on engineering. It requires strong curiosities and imaginations on current and future society we live in, where technology is inseparable ingredient. Course encourages attendees to explore fundamental issues of engineering: what is proper technology and what are proper ways of exercising engineering, issues dealt in soft engineering. Since course topics cover many aspects of technology, traditional learning methods fail to be successful and efficient. Various efficient learning methods have been proposed and implemented. We utilize various interactive tangible media, which include simulated thought experiments and physical media experiences. About twenty (20) episodes in short film format are produced based on scenario written according to related issues selected. Physical media like interactive robots are introduced for attendees' stimulated experiences. We summarize our exciting experiments on interactive teaching experiences at Pusan National University which include on/off-line interactions, assignments, projects, and evaluations.

  • Under the influence of COVID-19, as a measure of social distancing for about two years and one month, non-face-to-face services using ICT element technology are expanding not only to the education sector but to all fields. In particular, as educational programs using the Metaverse platform spread to various fields, educators, and learners have more learning experiences using Edutech, but problems through non-face-to-face learning such as reduced immersion or concentration in education are raising In this paper, to overcome the problems raised through non-face-to-face learning and develop metaverse immersive media digital contents to improve the educational environment, we utilize VR (Virtual Reality) based on an immersive metaverse to provide education / Training contents and the educational environment was established. In this paper, we presented a system to increase immersion and concentration in educational contents in a virtual environment using HMD (Head Mounted Display) for learners who are put into military education/training. Immersion was further improved.

  • This paper summarizes the characters of virtual reality contents and its design problems, and suggests user centered approach in design methodology of VR contents. Based on case study of former VR contents design project, I developed a new VR contents design process in experience design perspective. This design process was applied on Tangible Space Initiative project of KIST, which showed positive roles of this design process as a dear communication media between project players, and an active generator of user-centered interaction design.

A Study on the Formative Narrative Seen from the Exhibition Space of Architect Daniel Libeskind (다니엘 리베스킨트 전시공간을 통해 본 조형적 내러티브 연구)

  • Today, museum exhibition can be divided into two sub-categories: a. informative exhibition with various useful auxiliary media to convey knowledge and b. appreciative exhibition considering aesthetic conveyance and visual/perceptual environment. In addition to this, the concept of memorial exhibition as a field that tangible and intangible memories are transmitted and reproduced is creating another genre of exhibition. As an example of such a memorial exhibition above, the work of de-constructive architect Daniel Libeskind was selected. Jewish Museum and Imperial War Museum North both of which maximized the exhibition space by grafting architectural language to exhibition narrative were analyzed and compared to see if the same architectural language can be displayed differently in another form of exhibition after being drawn into the exhibition space depending on the changes in time and perspective. Therefore, in the narrative display combining the selection of exhibition contents and storytelling, the formative language of space can confirm that exhibition narrative as an ending structure changed into a retelling story with more extended meanings through interactive factors. Eventually, in this formative narrative, when the display of historical facts and exhibition themes is combined with the architectural language in an exhibition hall according to the approach direction, the memorial exhibition can create a formative language stimulating sensibility in the memories of space and a differentiated formative exhibition space where one is truly moved by oneness of contents.

  • 본 논문은 기존 텐저블 인터페이스 시스템과는 다른 새로운 알고리즘을 적용하여 고가의 장비를 사용하지 않고 정해진 위치에서만 인식할 수 있는 수동적인 방식이 아닌 디스플레이 상에서 위치와 상관없이 텐저블 오브젝트를 인식할 수 있도록 하였으며, 변화하는 회전각을 계산하여 사용자의 몰입도를 높이기 위한 회전 퍼포먼스를 활용한 상호작용이 가능한 콘텐츠 제작 방법에 관한 것이다.
