  • Glass sealing method is used glass bond as called frit in LCD, PDP process. but new sealing method is need to consider the endurance and economy. This paper present the new glass sealing method using high density gas torch in the furnace and process variable are defined by experiment. Taguchi Robust Experimental Design methods were applied for optimizing these four main processing parameters.

  • In this paper the tool geometry of the PSS test were optimized in order to assure the reliability of the test. Considering many factors for optimization of the tool geometry, computer-simulation technique using three-dimensional finite element method(FEM) was used. Three design variables -the punch length, punch crown and punch corner radius- are chosen to be optimized according to the Taguchi's experiment technique with the L9 orthogonal array. The optimum condition to ensure the plane strain mode over the overall area of the specimen was clarified. Moreover the simulation results are confirmed by experiment.

단면 선삭가공에서 최적의 표면품위를 위한 피라미터 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Analysis of Parameter for Optimal Surface Quality in Face Turning)

  • In this paper, object of experiment is to study on the effect parameters to obtain optimal surface roughness in face turning. Surface roughness is significantly important to be high quality of parts produced by turning process. For this purpose, the optimization of cutting parameters for face turning operation is investigated applying the Taguchi method. An orthogonal array, signal-to-noise, and the analysis of variance are employed to evaluate effect of cutting parameters for face turning. Also confirmation tests were performed to make a comparison between the results predicted from the mentioned correlations and the theoretical results. Cutting experiment is performed without cutting fluid using coated tungsten carbide insert about workpiece of SM45C. And regression analysis technique has been used to study the effects of the cutting parameters.

  • In this research, the layout and geometry of U-type ribs in the part, including significant process conditions, are automatically optimized to reduce part warpage with robustness in consideration. The optimization procedure are based on an iterative redesign methodology integrated with computer aided injection molding simulation, Taguchi's Design of Experiment(DOE), and a direct search-based optimization method. The robustness of a design alternative is efficiently measured by introducing composite noise factor and Taguchi's signal-to-noise ratio. As a solution search methodology, the modified design space reduction method based on orthogonal arrays is employed to exploit an optimal robust design alternative. To illustrate the proposed methodology, a case study is performed on simulation results, where an optimal robust design alternative is obtained with a moderate number of iterations.

진공 인터럽터의 쉴드 형상 최적설계 (Optimal Design of a Shield in Vacuum Interrupter)

  • In this paper a nobel optimum design method is presented for a shield in a vacuum interrupter which is equipped in switchgear to improve its electric insulation capability. The design of Taguchi experiment method which is based on the results by finite element method is used to find optimum design conditions. The important design factors are chosen at first and the concept of signal to noise ratio is applied to evaluate the vacuum interrupter performance, and the optimal values of each parameters are determined. From the results of various analyses, it is shown that the shield plate in circuit circuit breaker compartment of switchgear can reduce the concentration of electric field intensity. This method is very useful to design the construction of a shield in a short time. Consequently, the insulation capability of circuit breaker compartment in a gas insulated switchgear is improved by adopting an additional optimized shaped shield.

다구찌 직교배열 실험을 이용한 무한궤도용 트랙 슈의 충격인성 향상 연구 (Impact toughness improvement of an undercarriage track shoe using the Taguchi orthogonal array experiment)

  • 트랙 슈는 건설 중장비의 무한궤도에 사용되는 중요한 핵심 부품으로 열악한 환경에서 사용되기 때문에 충분한 강도와 충격인성이 확보되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 보론 첨가강으로 만들어지는 트랙 슈의 경화능을 죠미니 H-밴드법을 통해 먼저 확인한 후, 충격인성 개선을 목표로 다구찌의 직교배열실험법을 사용하여 트랙 슈의 제조공정을 최적화하여 트랙 슈의 충격인성 향상을 꾀하고자 하였다. 공정변수로는 트랙 슈의 제조과정에 있는 블룸소재별 압하비, 뜨임 온도, 뜨임 유지시간을 택하였으며, 직교배열 실험을 수행하여 이들 변수가 샤르피 충격실험으로 평가한 충격인성에 미치는 영향을 평가였다. 그 결과, 트랙 슈의 충격인성은 압하비가 높은 쪽이 유리하고, 뜨임 온도는 $210^{\circ}C$, 뜨임 유지 시간은 80분이 유리하다는 것을 알 수 있다.

종이 헬리콥터 실험을 통한 강건설계의 이해 (Understanding Robust Design with Paper Helicopter Experiment)

  • Robust design method developed by Genichi Taguchi has been very popular since the 1980s and there have been many academic and applied research works on this topic. However, college students and engineers in companies have had difficulty in understanding the method. This paper presents a procedure to implement the robust design method by an easy-to-execute paper helicopter experiment. A crossed array was adopted, which consists of a resolution IV fractional factorial design with 6 control factors and a factorial design with 3 noise factors. Three performance measures were analyzed; signal-to-noise ratio, mean, and standard deviation of the falling time of the paper helicopter that is to be maximized. Control-noise interaction plots are also given to evaluate the degree of the sensitivity of each level of the control factors to the noise factors. The procedure presented in this paper can be helpful to those who want to have basic knowledge in the robust design method.

Optimization of Multiple Quality Characteristics for Polyether Ether Ketone Injection Molding Process

  • This study examines multiple quality optimization of the injection molding for Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK). It also looks into the dimensional deviation and strength of screws that are reduced and improved for the molding quality, respectively. This study applies the Taguchi method to cut down on the number of experiments and combines grey relational analysis to determine the optimal processing parameters for multiple quality characteristics. The quality characteristics of this experiment are the screws' outer diameter, tensile strength and twisting strength. First, one should determine the processing parameters that may affect the injection molding with the $L_{18}(2^1{\times}3^7)$ orthogonal, including mold temperature, pre-plasticity amount, injection pressure, injection speed, screw speed, packing pressure, packing time and cooling time. Then, the grey relational analysis, whose response table and response graph indicate the optimum processing parameters for multiple quality characteristics, is applied to resolve this drawback. The Taguchi method only takes a single quality characteristic into consideration. Finally, a processing parameter prediction system is established by using the back-propagation neural network. The percentage errors all fall within 2%, between the predicted values and the target values. This reveals that the prediction system established in this study produces excellent results.

다구찌 방법론에 근거한 초정밀 센터리스 연삭의 최적 드레싱 가공 조건 선정 (Selecting Optimal Dressing Parameters of Ultra-precision Centerless Grinding Based on the Taguchi Methodology)

  • In this study, rotary type diamond dressing system for ultra-precision centerless grinding for ferrule was developed at the first time and experiments were conducted with AE sensor and hall sensor system to verify the optimum dressing condition for ultra-precision centerless grinding for ferrule. The correlations with the condition of dressing are evaluated by AE signal analysis with root mean square (RMS) and frequency analysis. And current signals from hall sensor are also studied as a factor of dressing optimum condition selection. Dressing process was conducted to investigate the effects of depth of cut, rotating speed, and the number of overlap to select the optimum condition of rotary dressing system of ultra-precision centerless grinding machine for ferrule fabrication. In order to verify the optimum condition of dressing, AE and current signals were compared with the surface quality of dressing wheel and grinding wheel for ultra-precision ferrule grinding. All of these experiments were completed by Taguchi Methodology to reduce experimental time. Hence, the optimum condition of rotary dressing system for ultra-precision centerless grinding for ferrule fabrication can be selected following to the experiment result from signals of AE and hall sensor.

초음파 진동이 알루미늄 합금의 마찰 마모 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ultrasonic Vibration on the Friction and Wear Characteristics of Aluminum Alloy)

  • Ultrasonic waves are used in various applications in multiple devices, sensors, and high-power machinery, such as processing machines, welders, and cleaners, because the acoustic vibration frequencies are above the human audible frequency range. In ultrasonic machining, electrical energy at a high frequency of 20 kHz or more is converted into mechanical vibration by a vibrator and an amplifier. This technique allows instantaneous separation between a tool and a workpiece during machining, machining by pulse impulse force at the time of re-contact and minimizes the minute elastic deformations of the workpiece and machine tools due to the cutting effect. The Al7075 alloy used in this study is a typical aluminum alloy with superior strength that is mainly used in aircrafts, automobiles, and sporting goods. To investigate the optimal conditions for machining aluminum alloy using ultrasonic vibration, the present experiment utilized the Taguchi orthogonal array method, and the coefficient of friction was analyzed using the characteristics of the Taguchi technique. In ultrasonic friction and abrasion tests, the changes in the friction coefficient were measured in the absence of ultrasonic vibrations and at 28 kHz and 40 kHz. As a result, the most considerable influence on the friction coefficient was found to be the normal load, and the frequency of ultrasonic vibrations increases, the coefficient of friction increases. It was thus confirmed that the amount of wear increases when ultrasonic vibration is applied.
