1. Objectives The purpose of this study lies on the objectification of the Sasang Constitutional diagnosis. This study was analyzing the constitutional characteristic of adult men voices by PSSC-2004. 2. Methods The study was conducted on the subjects inputted /a/ 2.5-3 sec of 231 adult men voices to PSSC-2004. The statistical analyses are applied to three groups: total group, under 55 year-old group, over 55 year-old group. The group of total 231 was composed with 5 Taeyangins, 32 Soyangins, 102 Taeumins and 92 Soeumins. The under 55 years old group was composed with 4 Taeyangins, 23 Soyangins, 83 Taeumins and 77 Soeumins. The over 55 year-old group was composed with 1 Taeyangin, 9 Soyangins, 19 Taeumins and 15 Soeumins. 3. Results 1) In total group, the Soeumin's mean value of center pitch(4)$(1,000{\sim}2,000Hz)$ was significantly high compared with the others (P=0.034). 2) In total group, the Soeumin's group 3 APQ was significantly low compared with the others (P=0.042). 3) In under 55 year-old group, the Soeumin's center value of center pitch 4$(1,000{\sim}2,000Hz)$ was significantly high compared with the others (P=0.025) 4) In over 55 year-old group, no statistical significance was found between the Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeumin and Soeumin. 4. Conclusions In under 55 year-old group, Soeumin's voice showed high pitched sound (clearness) at the low frequency (1000-2000Hz). In over 55 year-old group, there is no significant differences. This fits in with that 'Soeumin's voice is 'Yu-tone' born by 'Shang-tone', very short and high.' 'Yu-tone' corresponds to 'Ra' and witch is highest among Gong, Shang, Gao, Chi and Yu. This is related with the appearance that the Soeumin's voice is weak, thin and high tone. Therefore it is supposed that Soeumin adult men's voices are thick, and there are vibrations of the ending. It is accepted one of the Soeumin's characters like as a mild tremor of limbs and deep breath caused by Soeumin's Qi-deficiency. This outcome accords with the theory that Soeumin's Qi is less than the Other constitutions.

Sasang constitutional medicine is a Korean traditional medicine in which individuals are classified into four constitutional types, Taeyangin, Taeumin, Soyangin, and Soeumin. To develop new functional Saengsik products, we investigated the immunostimulatory activities of raw materials of Saengsik (milled rice, barley, Job's tears, soybean, adzuki bean, millet, eggplants, radish, carrot, Lentinus edodes, Agaricus bisporus, and Auricularia auricula-judae) and Saengsik products (Mix 1~6) in primary immune cells (lymphocytes and macrophages) isolated from blood of Taeumin, Soyangin, and Soeumin types. Increased cell proliferation as well as NO and TNF-${\alpha}$ protein production by immune cells treated with extracts of materials of Saengsik and Saengsik products were measured as immunostimulatory parameters. We chose milled rice, adzuki bean, radish, and Lentinus edodes to study the immunostimulatory activity of Teaumin, barley, soybean, eggplants, and Agaricus bisporus to study the immunostimulatory activity of Soyangin, as well as Job's tears, adzuki bean, carrot, and Auricularia auricula-judae to study the immunostimulatory activity of Soeumin. The mixtures (Mix 1~6) were made with different kinds and ratios of Saengsik materials based on the immunostimulatory activities of Saengsik materials. The immunostimulatory activity of Taeumin was highest in Mix 2 (rice 60%, adzuki bean 20%, radish 10%, and Lentinus edodes 10%) extract-treated immune cells among all six mixtures. The immunostimulatory activity of Soyangin responded best to Mix 4 (barley 60%, soybean 20%, eggplants 10%, and Agaricus bisporus 10%) among the six extracts (Mix 1~6). The increased immunostimulatory activity of Mix 6 (Job's tears 60%, adzuki bean 20%, carrot 10%, and Auricularia auricula-judae 10%)-treated immune cells was higher than the other five extracts (Mix 1~5). Accordingly, Mix 2, Mix 4, and Mix 6 may be useful as mixtures for Saengsik products having personalized immunostimulatory activities.

1. Objectives : There are many studies on the ordinary symptoms based on Sasang constitution. But there are not quite satisfactory between the types of Sasang constitution. So This study is for learning the characteristics of ordinary symptoms depending on Taeyangin Soyangin(the rest Yangin) and Taeumin Soeumin(the rest Eumin) of the Sasang constitution. 2. Methods : We classified them into the each type of Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM) by the well-trained SCM specialist, and assessed their ordinary features by the questionnaire. Binary logistic regression analysis was applied to evaluate the influence of ordinary features to the diagnosis of SCM. 3. Results : There are a result of the binary logistic analysis on the observed questionnaire. 1) Regarding sleeping, Yangin do not dream much as Eumin do when they sleep. The time they are sleeping is not longer, and they usually do not sleep well. 2) Regarding stools, Yangin go to stool more than Eumin do. The constipation does not occur when they are not in a good condition, and they do not feel uncomfortable when they do not go to stool for a day. The length of time taken for emptying the bowels is much longer, and the hardness of their stools is much more, but the hardness does not mean that they have the constipation. 3) Regarding urine, Yangin have much more foam than Eumin. 4. Conclusions: We found that Yangin and Eumin have characteristics of ordinary symptoms, but partly there are not in accordance with ones what Lee Je-ma said in his book. So in future we hope clinical studies are required steadily.

1. Objectives This paper was written in order to understand the function of acupoints as Sasang Constitution. 2. Methods Through the concept of ${\ulcorner}$Seung-Gang-Wan-Sok(升降緩束)${\lrcorner}$, we could find out the function of some acupoints as Sasang Constitution. 3. Results and Conclusions 1) Some acupoints could be classified into four groups. These four groups are corresponded with four Sasang Constitutional groups 2) This four groups are supported by the concept of ${\ulcorner}$Seung-Gang-Wan-Sok(升降緩束)${\lrcorner}$. 3) The first group is for Soeumin(少陰人). The acupoints are 'Sangwan(上脘, CV13)', 'Chungwan(中脘, CV12)', 'Hwangsu(?兪, K16)', 'chonchu(天樞, S25)' and 'Wisu(胃兪, B21)'. These acupoints all have Seung(升: elevating Gi(氣))-function in their Oriental medical effects 4) The second group is for Soyangin( 少陽人). The acupoints are 'Kichung(氣衝, S30)', 'Choksamni(足三里, S36)', 'Sangohu(上巨虛, S37)', 'Hagoho(下巨虛, S39)', 'Haegye(解谿, S41) and 'hyonjong(懸鍾, G39)'. These acupoints all have Gang(降: descending Gi(氣))-function in their Oriental medical effects. 5) The third group is for Taeumin(太陰人). The acupoints are 'Oje(魚際, L10)', ' Taeyon(太淵, L9)', 'Taedo(大都, Sp2)', 'Taebeak(太白, Sp3)' and 'Nohoe(?會, TE13)‘. These acupoints all have Wan(緩: efferenting Gi(氣))-function in their Oriental medical effects. 6) The fourth group is for Taeyangin(太陽人). The acupoints are 'Kwanwon(關元, CV4)', 'Hawan(下脘, CVlO)’ and ‘Chungjong(中庭, CVI6)’. These acupoints all have Sok(束: afferenting Gi(氣))-function in their Oriental medical effects.

1. Objectives Sasang Constitutional Medicine is based on difference of Nature & Emotion(性情). The mind is held in high value to characteristics of each constitution's symptoms and prescriptions. This study is for psychotheraphy with Herbal medicines, Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. Methods Comparing with ${\ulcorner}$DongYi Soose Bowon Gabobon${\Ircorner}$ and ${\ulcorner}$DongYi Soose Bowon ShinChukbon${\Ircorner}$, we research the principle of human's organization which is connected with their talent and will. 3. Results and Conclusions (1) Sasang Constitutional Medicine consider human being more than disease in medical science. A Human being works up to take a reasonable in modern societies, as making friends, a practice of his daily life, mentality. (2) Psychotheraphy is as important as each constitution's symptoms and prescriptions on clinical medicine (3) Taeyangin should be moderate when expressing their sorrow & anger(哀怒) and take a step backward for a real purpose(恒心). (4) Soyangin should be moderate when expressing their sorrow & anger(哀怒) and watch the interior for a real purpose(恒心). (5) Taeumin should be moderate when expressing their happiness & pleasantness(喜樂) and watch the exterior for a real purpose(恒心). (6) Soeumin should be moderate when expressing their happiness & pleasantness(喜樂) and go one step forward for a real purpose(恒心).

Objectives : C V A(Cerebral Vascular Attack) is the severest and most important disease that makes doctors difficult in treating, also makes patients difficult to recover. I intended to research for imformations and standards of C V A patients of Sasang Constitutional Medicine through this clinical study. Methods : 106 C V A patients(61 men and 45 women) who had been inpatients from October 19, 1996 to August 19, 1999 in Conmaul Oriental Hospital were investigated and analysed the characteristics, past histories, symtoms, progress, relationship with other diseases for example DM and HTN, efficacy of oriental medical treatments. Results and Conclusions : The results of constitutional analysis showed 51 Taeumin(48.1%) 13 Soyangin(12.3%) 12 Soeumin(11.3%) 7 Taeyangin(6.6%). In the frequency of C V A, age of $60{\sim}69(43.4%)$ is major, both $50{\sim}59\;and\;70{\sim}79$ (17.9%) are next. and in pre-disease on the past, C V A is major, digestive disease and musuloskeletal disease are next. In chief complaint, kinetic disorder is major dyslogia is next. In efficacy of treatments, Slightly Improved(52.9%) is the most occupied part of that.

The effects of cereal (rice, brown rice, barley, glutinous rice) ethanol extracts on the proliferation, nitric oxide (NO) production, and level of tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$) in B and T lymphocytes, isolated from human blood cells of sasang constitution, were examined in vitro. The rice, brown rice, and glutinous rice ethanol extract, which are known as suitable for eumin (taeumin and soeumin) constitutions, showed the highest activities for proliferation, NO production, and TNF-${\alpha}$ concentration, respectively. However, the barley ethanol extract, which is known tobe suitable for yangin (taeyangin and soyangin) constitutions, showed the highest overall activities for proliferation, NO production, and TNF-${\alpha}$ concentration. The different immunological activities of the cereal extracts in sasang constitution lymphocytes might be due to their individual components. Thus, determination of components from the cereal extracts suitable for sasang constitution could be useful in new food developments.

1. Objectives This study focuses on the Validity of the Questionnaire about Sasang Constitution Classification for Mongolians 2. Methods By using the way of backward elimination, certain variables are chosen from the 438 cases whose physical conditions are absolutely diagnosed. After that, discriminant analysis for the selected variables has been done to obtain the physical constitution equation and the accuracy ratio of diagnosis which are useful for physical constitution diagnosis. 3. Results and Conclusions (1) In tile Validity for the Questionnaire of Sasang Constitution Classification for Mongolians, the accuracy ratio of diagnosis of Taeyangin is 100%, Soyangin 62.5%, Taeumin 76.7%, and Soeumin 66.1% respectively as a result of the discriminant analysis employing Cronbach's alpha coefficient. On the whole, the accuracy ratio of diagnosis is 70.1%. (2). In the Validity for the Questionnaire of Sasang Constitution Classification for Mongolians, the accuracy ratio of diagnosis of 70.1% means that it beats the maximum chance criterion of 41.4% and the proportional chance criterion of 34.4% by 28.7% and 35.7% respectively. Conclusively, this questionnaire has discriminant power.

Objectives : A human being is classified into 4 constitutions(Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeumin, and Souemin) and each constitution has the different incidence, treatment and prevention of disease in Sasang Constutional Medicine[SCM], The purpose of this study is to find relative risk(RR)s of each risk factors including Sasang Constitution[SC] for incidence of ischemic stroke. Methods : In 344-case patients with ischemic stroke and 1446 healthy control subjects without ischemic stroke, we evaluated sex, age. height, weight, BMI, ECG abnormality, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, blood lipid level and SC. These data were statistically analysed to investigate the relations between risk factors and the incidence of ischemic stroke by chi-square test. And then significant factors were analysed to get each adjusted odds ratio[OR] by binary logistic regression analysis. Results : ECG abnormality, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, HDL(high density lipoprotein) cholesterol, and SC were significantly related to the incidence of ischemic stroke, while age, sex and BMI were adjusted in a binary logistic regression analysis. Especially in SC, the incidence of ischemic stoke in Tae-eumin and Soyangin were higher than that in Soeumin (Tae-eumin OR=11.68[95% CI: 6.26-21.80], Soyangin OR=4.64[95% CI: 2.66-8.10]). Conclusions : These results suggested that SC may be one of important risk factors for ischemic stroke and it should be a useful data for prediction of incidence of ischemic stroke.

Objectives : SDQ is the measure for diagnosis of the Sasang constitutions. It evaluates external shape, mentality and symptoms of Sasangin. We analysed the items related with external shape to identify the feature of Sasangin's face. Methods : We analysed the data collected by multi-center researchers in 2004. We used Chi-square test to define the relationship between the item and Sasang constitutions. Results : There were 15 items significantly related with each corresponding constitution(p<0.05). 2 items were defined as Taeyangin's, 4 items were defined as Soyangin's. 5 items were defined as Taeumin's and 4 items were defined as Soeumin's. Conclusions : The items were partially contribute to diagnosis of Sasang constitutions. For more accurate diagnosis, there is the need to accumulate corroborative evidence about Sasangin's actual external shape.
