  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to address the difference menopausal symptoms according to sasang constitution and menopausal status among perimenopausal women. Methods: Data for this cross-sectional study was collected by administering questionnaires that elicited general information. The menopause rating scale (MRS) and Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II (QSCC II) was given to 284 perimenopausal women who met the eligibility criteria and agreed to participate in the study. Results: The study subjects were composed of 27.5% so-yangin, 24.6% so-eumin, 18.7% tae-eumin, and 29.6% undefined category. The total MRS and all subscales were significantly higher for postmenopausal women in comparison to premenopausal women. Especially, so-eumin and tae-eumin displayed significantly higher scores in urogenital symptoms. The MRS score in postmenopausal women who belonged to the group of tae-eumin and so-eumin was significantly higher than those for premenopausal women. However, so-yangin displayed higher scores in psychological and urogenital symptoms than tae-eumin for premenopausal women. So-eumin presented significantly higher scores in urogenital symptoms in comparison to the undefined category for postmenopausal women. Conclusion: These findings suggest that sasang constitution could be an important factor in understanding the woman's menopausal symptoms and identify the best treatment.

Thus, The author examines the content of various literatures related to Tae-eumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea. 2. Methods: Literature examination is used Lee, Je-ma's writings and Sasang Constitutional Medical doctor's writings. Syndrome examination is used Tae-eumin's study on Syndrome of DonguisusebowonGaboGu-bon("咸山沙村東醫壽世保元甲午舊本") and Donguisusebowon("東醫壽世保元") and treatises of the academic world. 3. Taeeumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea is engaged in both the Exterior and Interior(表裏俱病). 3) It is difficult to prescribe GalgeunHaegi-Tang(葛根解肌湯) instead of Galgeunnabokja-Tang(葛根蘿葍子湯). 4) Tae-eumin Exterior Heat syndrome diarrhea is formed in the early period and absorbed into Donguisusebowon ("東醫壽世保元") in the latter period. "Profuse sweating and reddish and difficult urination" is estimated to be added in the latter period.

  • Sasang Constitution Medicine(SCM)'s researches have been developed in many ways, especially Herbal medicine prescriptions and diagnosis. But there are no acceptable acupuncture theory for the Sasang Constitution. So We have tried to find the way for identifying each Sasang Constitution's acupuncture point on more reasonable methods. We studied that SCM acupuncture based on collecting Books of "Shanghanlun(傷寒論)", or Six-meridian pattern identification's acupuncture prescription. Selected books are "The Acupuncture and Moxibustion(침구학)", "Zhonghua Zhenjiuxue(中華鍼灸學)", "Zhenjiuxinchuan(鍼灸心傳)", "Shanghanlun Zhenjiupeixuexuanzhu(傷寒論鍼灸配穴選注)". So-eumin uses Conception Vessel's acupuncture points most frequently. And So-yangin and Tae-eumin use Bladder meridian and Stomach meridian's acupuncture points most. Moxibustion is used many times for So-eumin, especially at three Yin-Symptoms(三陰病). Orders for using frequencies of three Sasang constitutions' acupuncture points are: So-eumin uses ST36 CV12 CV4 most, So-yangin uses PC6 ST36 LI4 most, Tae-eumin uses ST36 LU7 CV12 most. Acupuncture for Sasang constitutions has been developed for many ways, but there are no generally acceptable theory. So we need to hold a committee for SCM and acupuncture specialist to establish acceptable and reasonable SCM acupuncture theory.
