  • The productivity of container terminal is determined by its various operation methods. This paper aims at finding out the factors to enhance the productivity of container handling of quay crane, using simulation technique. Three levels of decision making in terminal operation, strategy, and tactics and operation are selected for defining parameters of simulation The result of the simulation and test shows that the significant factors to improve the productivity are the stack height of container, block dispersion and the distance in yard planning for shipment. Decision making in the operation level, however, is of significance in the mixed condition of strategic and tactical level. The result shows meaningful guidelines in decision making under strategic, tactical and operation level.

Accordingly, this study measured the important factors influencing family restaurant choice between university student's situational characteristics. In this study, the important factors were food presentation-related, facility-related, food quality & value-related and service-related factors. The findings from this study were as follows. Results of analyzing the validity and the internal consistency of important factors showed that the convergent and discriminant validitys of important factors are supported, and cronbach's alpha showed that the internal consistency of important factors is supported. It was found that groups of different situational characteristics perceived that facility factor was significantly important factor influencing their family restaurant choice. It was found that the important factor was statistically significant with regard to the difference situational characteristics. Finally, the results of the study provide seine insights into the market-oriented types of foodservice marketing strategies or tactics to enable family restaurant to effectively manage and more competitive.

  • Remanufacturing is an industrial manufacturing process. The merits of remanufacturing are to reuse old products to perform like a new product and to save energy, natural resources, landfill space and to reduce air pollution by less re-smelting. This paper proposes a systemic approach for activating the domestic remanufacturing industry. The approach is based on inside and outside regulations to apply remanufacturing companies. And, we analyzed the state and problems of remanufacturing industry for automobile parts. Also 5 essential tactics and 20 detail strategies are suggested. On the basis of the approach, the domestic remanufacturing industry will carry out the cooperation for their competitions.

  • The distributed digital control system has many shared common components, and a single fault in the system may have effects on not a single function. Not as in an analog system, the faults in a digital system usually make discrete and abrupt changes in its output, which are hard to be expected. To cope with these situations, the fault-tolerance is an inevitable property of a distributed control system. A distributed digital control system consists of many equipments, and each equipment can be implemented by many different technologies. The fault-tolerance has to be implemented depend-ing on the overall architecture and how each equipment is implemented. The paper analyzes and compares the strategies and tactics to add the fault-tolerances in a distributed digital control system, and studies how they can be combined appropriately.

  • The Navy is in the process of developing a sonar-operation strategy to increase the effectiveness of underwater target searching capability. HMS is the basic strategy to detect underwater targets. The advantages of HMS is that, it has a short preparation time to operate and can be always used regardless of sea conditions and weather. However, it is difficult to effectively detect underwater targets due to the interaction between marine environments and sonar-operations. During the research, the effectiveness of the HMS system's underwater target searching capability was analyzed by integrating various search and defense patterns, and environment conditions into the simulation. In the simulation the ship search an evasive target within a set region. The simulation presented results for an effective searching and defense methods of underwater targets. These research results can be used as foundation for advancing and improving the sonar operational tactics.
