Minimizing Frequency Drop Cost and Interference Cost in Reconfiguring Radio Networks (이동통신 네트워크에서 주파수간 간섭과 서비스 장애를 최소화하는 주파수 재할당 방법)

  • In this paper, we present a frequency reassignment problem (FRP) that arises when we install new base stations or reconfigure radio networks to increase the capacity or to expand service area. For this problem, we develop an integer programming (IP) model, and develop cutting planes to enhance the mathematical representation of the model. Also, we devise an effective tabu search algorithm to obtain tight upper bounds within reasonable time bounds. Computational results exhibit that the developed cutting planes are effective for reducing the computing time as well as for increasing lower bounds. Also, the proposed tabu search algorithm finds a feasible solution of good quality within reasonable time bound.

Neighborhood Search Algorithms for the Maximal Covering Problem (이웃해 탐색 기법을 이용한 Maximal Covering 문제의 해결)

  • Various techniques have been applied to solve the maximal covering problem. Tabu search is also one of them. But, existing researches were lacking of the synthetic analysis and the effort for performance improvement about neighborhood search techniques such as hill-climbing search and simulated annealing including tabu search. In this paper, I introduce the way to improve performance of neighborhood search techniques through various experiments and analyses. Basically, all neighborhood search algorithms use the k-exchange neighborhood generation method. And I analyzed how the performance of each algorithm changes according to various parameter settings. Experimental results have shown that simple hill-climbing search and simulated annealing can produce better results than any other techniques. And I confirmed that simple hill-climbing search can produce similar results as simulated annealing unlike general case.

  • Tabu search (TS) is a useful strategy that has been successfully applied to a number of complex combinatorial optimization problems. By guiding the search using flexible memory processes and accepting disimproved solutions at some iterations, TS helps alleviate the risk of being trapped at a local optimum. In this article, we propose TS-based heuristics for solving a class of clustering problems, and compare the relative performances of the TS-based heuristic and the simulated annealing (SA) algorithm. Computational experiments show that the TS-based heuristic with a long-term memory offers a higher possibility of finding a better solution, while the TS-based heuristic without a long-term memory performs better than the others in terms of the combined measure of solution quality and computing effort required.

  • In the design of mobile wireless communication system, the location of BTS(Base Transciver Stations), RSC(Base Station Controllers), and MSC(Mobile Switching Center) is one of the most important parameters. Designing wireless communication system, the cost of equipment is need to be made low by combining various, complex parameters. We can solve this problem by combinatorial optimization algorithm, such as Simulated Annealing, Tabu Search, Genetic Algorithm, Random Walk Algorithm that have been extensively used for global optimization. This paper shows the four kind of algorithms which are applied to the location optimization of BTS, BSC, and MSC in designing mobile communication system and then we compare with these algorithms. And also we analyze the experimental results and shows the optimization process of these algorithms. As a the channel of a CDMA system is shared among several users, the receivers face the problem of multiple-access interference (MAI). Also, the multipath scenario leads to intersymbol interference (ISI). Both components are undesired, but unlike the additive noise process, which is usually completely unpredictable, their space-time structure helps to estimate and remove them.

  • We consider a vehicle routing problem with time window and dock capacity constraints (VRPTD). In most traditional models of vehicle routing problems with time window (VRPTW), each customer must be assigned to only one vehicle route. However demand of a customer may exceed the capacity of one vehicle, hence at least two vehicles may need to visit the customer We assume that each customer has Its own dock capacity. Hence, the customer can be served by only a limited number of vehicles simultaneously. Given a depot, customers, their demands, their time windows and dock capacities, VRPTD is to get a set of feasible routes which pass the depot and some customers such that all demands of each customer are satisfied Since VRPTD is NP-hard, a meta-heuristic algorithm is developed. The algorithm consists of two Procedures : the route construction procedure and the route scheduling procedure. We tested the algorithm on a number of instances and computational results are reported.

  • This paper presents an optimum design of rotor-bearing system using a hybrid method to compute the solutions of optimization problem. The present hybrid algorithm namely Enhanced Artificial Life Algorithm(EALA), is a synthesis of an artificial life algorithm(ALA) and the random tabu search(R-tabu) method. We applied EALA to the optimum design of rotor-shaft system supported by the floating ring journal bearings. we will propose the optimum shape of rotor, position and shape of bearings. Through this study, we investigate the reliability and usefulness of EALA.

  • The vehicle routing problem (VRP) can be described as a problem to find the optimum traveling routes from one or several depot (s) to number of geographically scattered customers. This study executes a revised Heterogeneous Vehicle Routing Problem (HVRP) to minimize the cost that needs to conduct efficiently the snow removal operations of Air Wing under available resources and limited operations time. For this HVRP, we model the algorithm of an hybrid Ant Colony System (ACS). In the initial step for finding a solution, the modeled algorithm applies various alterations of a parameter that presents an amount of pheromone coming out from ants. This improvement of the initial solution illustrates to affect to derive better result ultimately. The purpose of this study proves that the algorithm using Hybrid heuristic incorporated in tabu and ACS develops the early studies to search best solution.

  • Recently, the issue of ship nitration due to the large scale, high speed and lightweight of ship is emerging. For pleasantness in the cabin, shipbuilders are asked for strict vibration criteria and the degree of nitration level at a deckhouse became an important condition for taking order from customers. This study proposes a new optimization framework that is NASTRAN external call type optimization method (OptShip) and applies to an optimum design to decrease the nitration level of a deckhouse. The merits of this method are capable of using of global searching method and selecting of various objective function and design variables. The global optimization algorithms used here are random tabu search method which has fast converging speed and searches various size domains and genetic algorithm which searches multi-point solutions and has a good search capability in a complex space. By adapting OptShip to full-scale model, the validity of the suggested method was investigated.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a new heuristic algorithm for vehicle routing problem. The algorithm is composed of two steps. First step is to make a initial solution using sweeping algorithm. Second step is to improve initial solution for optimal solution using node exchange algorithm and tabu search algorithm. We have proven that our algorithm has produced better results than solutions obtained by saving algorithm and genetic in ten example problems with different unit size.
