The Study of Cost-benefit Analysis on Fissure Sealant and Regular Checkup for Prevention of Dental Caries (치아우식증 예방을 위한 영구치 구치부 교합면 치면열구전색 및 정기검진의 비용 편익 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the retention and caries prevention practical effectiveness of fissure sealant and regular checkup with cost-benefit analysis. The data of this study is based on "2000 The Survey of Korean Oral Health" by Ministry of Health & Welfare. This study is to investigate cost-benefit analysis on proper treatment for the decayed, in case of operating fissure sealant on molars at 1 year after eruption of permanent teeth. The obtained results were as follows: (1) Cost-benefit analysis on fissure sealant in 6-75 year old 43,736 thousand Korean people reveals that cost of fissure sealant is 1,610,994 million won and benefit is 69,460,691 million won. (2) Benefit of fissure sealant is 39.51 times as much as cost of fissure sealant. (3) Cost of twice in a year regular checkup is 2,678,544 million won. Indirect cost of regular checkup is 2.6 times as much as direct cost. (4) Cost of fissure sealant and twice in a year regular checkup is 4,289,538 million won, and benefit is 69,460,691 million won. Benefit of fissure sealant and twice in a year regular checkup is 16.2 times as much as cost.

The Effect of Yoga Exercise on the Relieve of Chronic Low Back Pain (요가운동이 만성요통 완화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to test whether Yoga exercise, one of muscle relaxation, helps to relieve chronic low back paln. Sample were selected from nurses who were worked at K medical center in the period from March 18 to April 23, 1996. The sample size was fifteen. The research design was one-group pretest-posttest design. To test the major research question, this study had the following procedure. The pretest included measuring individuals' degree of pain and discomfort depending on the scope and types of an range of motion, and their pain by their activity of daily living(ADL). The treatment was conducted twice every other week. The reason why this study had twice observations was to control history effect and maturation which treat internal validity in the research design of this study. In this research design, a treatment was to expose Yoga exercise to samples. The exercise was taken in 30 minutes per day for four days in a week (Two consecutive days and twice every other day). The posttest included re-measuring the individuals' the degree of pain and discomfort, and their pain by their ADL. Several hypotheses concerning effect of Yoga exercise was analyzed by the paired t-test, comparing the difference scores between pre and post tests. The results of this study was as follows. The first hypothesis that the post-treatment group taking the Yoga exercise had the pain score lower than the pre-treatment group was supported(t=3.31, p=.005). The second hypothesis that the discomfort score of the post-treatment group had lower than does that of the pre-treatment group was supported(t=2.75, p=.016). The third hypothesis that the post-treatment group had the pain score by ADL lower than does the pre-treatment group was supported(t=5.52, p=.000). In summary, this study examined the effect of a yoga exercise, one of muscle relaxation, on those who were suffered from chronic low back pain. The effect measured by the degree of pain and discomfort with a visual analog scale was statistically significant. The degree of pain according to postures in ADL also showed statistical significance. These findings showed that a yoga exercise was effective to alleviation of chronic low back pain. A pretest-posttest control group design, however, needs to get more accurate results since the design satisfies Internal validity. Consequently, yoga as an exercise cure improves an interaction between muscles and articulations, and performance of ADL for those suffered from chronic low back pain. Furthermore, this positive impact may be an effective method as nursing intervention for their physical, mental, emotional, social, and psychological recovery.

Injection-Acupuncture Combined by Conventional Treatment in Canine Demodicosis : Case Report (개 모낭충증에 있어서 약침과 기존 치료의 병용 : 증례 보고)

  • Therapeutic effect by injection-AP with antibiotics plus conventional treatment was investigated to establish a new treatment method for canine demodicosis. Three patients diagnosed into canine demodicosis were used in the present study. Injection-AP with enrofloxacin (5 mg/kg, twice a week) was made into the acupoints such as Fei Shu(BL13), Wei Zhong (BL40), Da Zhui (GV14), Zu San Li (ST36), He Gu (LI04), Qu Chi (LI11) and Sang Yin jiao(SP06) for 5 weeks. Further, they were additionally received with conventional treatments including injection of ivermectin (0.5 mg/kg, twice a week, SC) and 0.05% amitraz rinse (twice a week) for 5 weeks. The clinical symptoms (pruritus, excoriation, erythema and alopecia) were much improved by injection-AP therapy plus conventional treatment, compared by those of pre-treatment. Case 1 became to normal after 4 weeks, Case 2 became to mild after 5 weeks and Case 3 became to normal after 5 weeks. Total WBC revealed decreasing tendency with treatment in all cases, however, N/L ratios didn't show regular pattern of change with treatment. Notable changes were not histopathogically found in skin lesions of Case 1 and Case 3 except Case 2 with mild change after 5 weeks treatment, compared by those of pre-treatment, respectively. In conclusion, the present patients were cases with canine demodicosis which revealed favorable therapeutic response by injection-AP with antibiotics plus conventional treatment.

A Study on Application of TPCLT(Twice Per Cycle Left-Turn) for a Signalized Three-Leg Intersection (3지 교차로의 TPCLT(Twice Per Cycle Left-Turn) 적용 방안 연구)

  • TPCLT is a advanced signal system that serves twice left turn phases during the same cycle. TPCLT can be a useful where the left turn traffic volume is high and the length of the left turn lane is short. This study examined the effectiveness of TPCLT in reducing delay for a signalized three-Leg intersection and proposed the application of TPCLT signal system. 108 scenarios with different traffic volumes were created. This study analyzed the control delay of the three-Leg intersection in case TPCLT is operated and non-TPCLT is operated. As a result of analysis, it was shown that TPCLT was effective in most of the scenarios. When traffic volume ratio of the left turn is 30~40%, TPCLT was more effective at reducing the control delay. The study result shows significant delay reduction for the left turning traffic and it is approximately 50 seconds. The opposing movement's average control delay increased 2 seconds. The effect of TPCLT on the length of left turn lane was analyzed. As a result, it is found that TPCLT is effective when the length of left turn lane is 30%~60% compared to that of conventional three leg intersection operations.

  • New product innovation is a key component of a company's survival and sustained growth. With the rapidly changing market environment and global infinite competition, The importance of innovative new product development is growing. In the domestic entertainment industry, Competition is intensifying, and many companies are focusing on developing innovative new products in order to secure continuous competitive advantage in the era of global infinite competition. The problem is that as the intensity of competition increases and the idol production system develops more and more, The costs of planning and marketing are increasing. The fair trade commission estimated the cost of creating an idol group to be about 1 billion won, and some large entertainment companies claim that the investment cost is about 20 ~ 3 billion won. Lean startup is attracting attention as an innovation framework for sustainable competitive advantage of companies. But, there are not many related studies in Korea despite the growing interest. In particular, Case studies that can help to establish specific strategies are limited. Therefore, this study analyzed the successful case of JYP Entertainment's idol singer TWICE who succeeded in new product innovation and suggested practical implications. Theoretically, This study extended the Lean startup to the entertainment industry and suggested practical implications as the basic data for establishing the innovation strategies for the idol singers of domestic entertainment companies.

  • The present study is numerically investigated for the high pressure effects on the vaporization process of the DME droplet. The evaporation rate of DME droplets is about twice that of dodecane droplets at the same chamber condition. The DM droplet vaporization characteristics is parametrically studied for the wide range of the operating conditions encountered with the high pressure combustion process.

  • We automated high-accuracy data processing routines for various near-real-time GPS applications. The automated system was based on UNIX, and it uses GIPSY-OASIS II and ultra-rapid orbits which is updated twice a day and provided online. The highest error in the estimated site position was 2 cm and 5 cm in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively. The mean 3-D position error about 2 cm.

  • About 440,000 $\textrm{km}^2$, about twice the size of the Korean Peninsula is covered by loess deposits in China. Along the middle reaches of the Huanghe River, mainly in Shaanxi and in Gansu province loess plateau covers vast area amounting to 273,000 $\textrm{km}^2$ Chinese studies on loess and loessial slopes are summarized. And some of the U. S. study and others are also presented for comparison.

  • A metabolic study was performed in order to characterize the in vivo MAO-inhibitory activity of benzyl trans-2-phenylcylopropanecarbamate which was reported to be twice as potent as the tranylcypromine. In the rat urine which was obtained after the administration of the benzyl trans-2-pheny-lcyclopropanecarbamate (40mg/kg) through oral route, a metabolic product, tranylcypromine as well as the intact drug was detected by GC/MS.

  • Welding deformations are affected by various factors. This research investigates effects of welding sequence and self-weight on welding deformation. According to the results by equivalence load method, magnitude of welding deformation with self-weight is about twice one without self-weight on parallel weld path component. But welding deformation with the components used in this research are not affected by welding sequence
