제주도 해안과 산간 지역 대기 에어러솔의 이온조성 비교 (Ionic composition comparison of atmospheric aerosols at coastal and mountainous sites of jeju island)

  • 해안에 위치한 제주도 고산 지역과 산간의 한라산 1100고지 지역에서 대기에어러솔을 채취, 분석한 결과로부터 해안과 산간 지역 대기에어러솔의 이온조성 및 특성을 비교하였다. 이온성분의 농도는 한라산 1100고지보다 고산지역에서 더 높고, 월별로는 $NH_4^+$, nss-$SO_4^{2-}$(비해염 황산)이 6월에 두 지역에서 동시에 높은 농도를 나타내었다. 토양기원의 nss-$Ca^{2+}$(비해염 칼슘)은 인위적 기원의 $NO_3^-$과 상관성이 비교적 크며 봄철에 높은 농도를 나타내었다. 두 지역에서 각 이온들의 시계열 변화를 비교하고 회귀분석을 통해 성분들 간의 상관성을 조사해 본 결과, TSP(총부유분진)의 이온성분은 고산지역에서 해염입자의 영향을 크게 받는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 nss-$SO_4^{2-}$, $NH_4^+$, nss-$Ca^{2+}$, $K^+$, $NO_3^-$의 농도는 국지오염원보다는 장거리 이동한 대기오염물질의 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 조사되었다.

Exposure to Fine Particle along Different Commuting Routes in Urban Area of Fukuoka, Japan

  • The objective of the current study was to assess the comparative risk associated with exposure to particulate matter (PM) while commuting via different public transport modes in Fukuoka, Japan. For the given routes and measuring days, a trip-maker carried a lightweight portable bag loaded the real-time measurement devices which take simultaneous measurement for size-fractioned particle number concentration, $PM_{2.5}$ mass concentration, and total suspended particle (TSP) collection. The results of the present study have shown significant differences between public transports as commuting modes in Fukuoka. The PM exposure levels on subway platform and inside subway train were overwhelmingly higher than those of other points on commuting route. The relative ratio between modes (i.e., the ratio of $PM_{2.5}$ inside subway to that inside bus) provides an idea for choosing a right commuting mode for our health. This study clearly provided evidence of the extremely high levels of iron exposure by subway uses compared to bus uses. The result of theoretically reconstructed mass concentration of $PM_{2.0-0.3}$ collected on subway platform suggests that the PM of underground subway will be associated with PM both generated in subway system and inleakaged from outdoor environment.

목재 펠릿 난로와 보일러 사용에 의한 대기오염물질과 블랙카본의 배출 특성 (Emission Characteristics of Air Pollutants and Black Carbon from Wood-pellet Stove and Boiler)

  • This study was carried out simulating domestic utilization conditions of a wood pellet stove and a wood pellet boiler in order to determine emission factors (EFs) of macro-pollutants, i.e., carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, ammonia, particulate matters (total suspended particulate, $PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$, black carbon) and trace pollutants (i.e., ten different volatile organic compounds). The composite pollutants EFs for the pellet stove were: for TSP 4.58 g/kg, for $PM_{10}$ 3.35 g/kg, for $PM_{2.5}$ 2.48 g/kg, CO 119.23 g/kg, NO 14.40 g/kg, $SO_2$ 0.17 g/kg, TVOC 37.73 g/kg, $NH_3$ 0.02 g/kg and emissions were similar to the pellet boiler appliance: for TSP 4.73 g/kg, for $PM_{10}$ 3.41 g/kg, for $PM_{2.5}$ 2.63 g/kg, CO 161.51 g/kg, NO 13.67 g/kg, $SO_2$ 0.19 g/kg, TVOC 45.22 g/kg, $NH_3$ 0.02 g/kg.

  • Manually fed firewood burning appliances, i.e., stove and boiler, were tested in order to determine emission factors (EFs) of macro-pollutants, i.e., carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, ammonia, particulate matters (total suspended particulate, $PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$, black carbon) and trace pollutants (i.e., ten different volatile organic compounds). The composite pollutants EFs for the wood stove were: for TSP 15.45 g/kg, for $PM_{10}$ 6.53 g/kg, $PM_{2.5}$ 4.16 g/kg, CO 175.49 g/kg, NO 1.58 g/kg, $SO_2$ 0.15 g/kg, TVOC 48.02 g/kg, $NH_3$ 0.02 g/kg and emissions were similar to the wood boiler appliance: for TSP 12.23 g/kg, for $PM_{10}$ 5.84 g/kg, $PM_{2.5}$ 3.66 g/kg, CO 146.74 g/kg, NO 1.42 g/kg, $SO_2$ 0.15 g/kg, TVOC 47.78 g/kg, $NH_3$ 0.01 g/kg.

자돈사에서의 사이크론 먼지제거기의 집진효율 분석 (Dust Collecting Efficiency Using Cyclone Deduster in Weanned Piglet Building)

  • 무창형 이유자돈사의 분진의 특성을 조사하고 자돈사에서의 사이클론 집진기의 집진효율을 분석하기 위하여 18일령의 자돈사에 먼지제거기를 설치한 후 조사하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. TSP의 경우 아침 09:00~10:00 사이에 분진농도가 5,322$\mu g/m^3$으로 1차 피크를 형성했고 오후 19:00~12:00에 6,763$\mu g/m^3$로 2차 피크를 이루었으나 먼지제거기 가동시 08:00에 3,299$\mu g/m^3$, 18:30에 3,473$\mu g/m^3$으로 분진농도가 감소했다. 2. 분진 제거효율은 TSP의 대조구 3,614$\mu g/m^3$, 시험구 2,229.5$\mu g/m^3$로 38.3%의 분진제거효율을 보였으며, PM 10과 PM2.5는 각각 32.5%, 21.8%의 분진 제거효율이 있었다. 3. 숫자를 기준으로 한 분진의 크기별 분포는 시험구의 경우 0.745~1.08$\mu\textrm{m}$의 분진이 총 분진수의 53.5%를 차지하였고 대조구의 경우 0.985~1.19$\mu\textrm{m}$의 분진의 총 분진수의 58.1%를 차지했다. 4. 분진의 용적을 기준으로 하였을 경우 시험구에서는 23.4$\mu\textrm{m}$ 크기의 분진이 4.7%로 가장 높은 비율을 차지하였으며 대조구는 37.29$\mu\textrm{m}$ 크기의 분진이 5.1%로 가장 높았다. 5. 시험사료의 단백질 함량은 22%인데 비하여 분진은 25.9~32.7%로 높았으며 분진중의 중금속 함량도 사료에 비하여 높은 경향이었다.

  • Compared to yellow dust coming from China or particulate matter created naturally in spring due to Total Suspended Particulate(TSP), particulate matter in winter season have much more serious effect on human body as they penetrate cell membranes. Although such particulate matter are becoming a social issue, there are no concrete plans on how to reduce them. Air-purifying plants are limited in maintaining the indoor air quality of large area because it is usually difficult to quantify their performance. In order to improve this, a bio-filter that can be connected to air conditioner is suggested as an option. This study seeks to improve air conditioning model-based monitoring method for bio-filters from prior studies and objectify correlations between applied vegetation and growing environment into quantitative indicators. By doing so, this study seeks to provide criteria on plants applied to artificial soil-based vegetation bio-filters and basic information to set air-conditioning features. The study results confirmed significant tendency on the growing stability of each purifying plant in mechanical air-conditioning environment. Among three models selected for bio-filter vegetation models, epipremnum aureum showed high performance in quantitative indicators, including soil moisture, EC, and leaf temperature, etc., indicating that it would assure the highest growing stability in this test air-conditioning environment.

Case Studies of Mass Concentration Variation in the Central-Southern Korean Peninsula Caused by Synoptic Scale Transport of Dust Storms

  • In East Asia, the long-range transport of dust storms originating from Mongolia and northern China affects airborne dust loadings over downwind areas in the southern Korean Peninsula. Since 1997, dust loading cases caused by dust storms have been observed using the thresholds of total suspended particles (TSP, ${\geq}250{\mu}g\;m^{-3}\;hr^{-1}$) and particulate matter less than $10{\mu}g$ ($PM_{10}$, ${\geq}190{\mu}g\;m^{-3}\;hr^{-1}$) in the central-southern Korean Peninsula. There were two dust loading cases that exceeded these thresholds in 2016 and three in 2017, which reflects the downward trend of the last twenty-one years in the central-southern Korean Peninsula. Furthermore, five other dust loading cases with mass concentrations lower than the thresholds were observed from 2016 to 2017. In the moderate dust loading cases exceeding the thresholds, a descending motion of cut-off lows below $45^{\circ}N$ and a southward trough at 500 hPa gpm isopleths intensified at the western ridge, and largely extended the surface high-pressure system over southeast China. Airborne dust loadings following pronounced north-westerlies in the forward side of the high-pressure system were transported to the surface of the central-southern Korean Peninsula. However, in slight dust loading cases lower than the thresholds, the restricted descending motion of cut-off lows over $45^{\circ}N$ and the southwestward trough at 500 hPa gpm isopleths intensified the zonal flow over the Korean Peninsula. Surface high- and low-pressure systems moved eastward from the source compared to moderate dust loading cases. Due to the zonal movement of dust storms traversing eastern China, slight dust loading cases were observed with relatively higher ratios of $PM_{2.5}/TSP$ and carbon monoxide (CO) in the central-southern Korean Peninsula.

과수 및 화훼 시설하우스 내 작업자의 미세먼지 노출현황 모니터링 (Monitoring of Working Environment Exposed to Particulate Matter in Greenhouse for Cultivating Flower and Fruit)

  • 본 연구에서는 한라봉 3농가, 절화장미 3농가를 대상으로 시설하우스 내부 농작업 종류와 특성에 따른 시설 내 작업자의 미세먼지 노출 현황과 특성을 파악하기 위하여 미세먼지 모니터링을 수행하였다. 한라봉 시설하우스 내부 경운작업의 경우 작업자가 지역시료에 비해 개인시료 측정 농도가 TSP 4.9배, PM-10 2.7배, PM-2.5 1.5배로 더 높게 나타났다. 절화장미 작업자는 개인시료의 경우 지역시료에 비해 TSP 농도 7.4배, PM-10 농도 3.2배 높은 것으로 나타나 시설 내부 작업 시 작업자는 전반적으로 더 높은 분진 환경에 노출되는 것으로 나타났다. 시설하우스 미세먼지 입경별 기여도 분석 결과, 10㎛ 이상의 큰 입자 분포를 가진 미세먼지가 경운작업 시 기계적 분쇄과정을 거쳐 한라봉 시설하우스에서 발생한 것으로 추정된다. 절화 장미 옆순 정리 작업 시 상대적으로 PM-10의 입경 분포를 가진 미세먼지 농도가 발생하는 것으로 판단되며, PM-2.5 크기를 가지는 입자에 의한 영향은 상대적으로 크지 않을 것으로 사료된다. 시설하우스 내부 작업동선에 따른 미세먼지 노출 특성 분석 결과, 경운작업 시 10㎛ 전·후의 미세먼지 농도가 증가한 것으로 나타났고, 시설하우스 작업시기와 이동시기와 비교하여 입경별 미세먼지 농도는 유의한 차이가 있으며, 작업 시 미세먼지 농도가 유의하게 높게 나타났다(p < 0.001). 한라봉 시설하우스 내부 이동시기 대비 경운작업시기의 경우 TSP 농도 3.8배, PM-10 농도 2.1배, PM-2.5 1.3배, PM-1.0 1.1배가 증가하였다. 절화장미 농가에서 이동 시 작업자에게 노출되는 미세먼지 농도의 경우 일반 대기환경 농도와 유사한 수준인 것으로 나타났지만, 이동시기 대비 작업시기에 TSP 농도가 3.4배, PM-10 3.2배, PM-2.5 1.6배, PM-1.0 1.1배 증가하였다. 작업동선별 미세먼지 농도 증가 추이 분석 결과, 미세먼지의 입경이 큰 범위에 속하는 TSP, PM-10의 경우 작업 시 TSP와 PM-10 평균 농도의 편차가 크게 나타났으며, 이는 농가별 작업의 종류, 시설 규모, 환기량, 농가의 운영관리상태 등에 따라 미세먼지 발생 영향에 기인한 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구의 시설하우스 내부 작업자의 미세먼지 노출현황과 특성 분석을 기반으로 시설하우스 내부 미세먼지 저감 프로그램 개발 및 작업 환경 개선 방안 마련을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

플라즈마 이온 방식의 공기정화기를 이용한 돈사내 공기오염물질 저감 효과 (Reduction Effect of Airborne Pollutants in Pig Building by Air Cleaner Operated with Plasma Ion)

  • This field study was performed to evaluate the efficiency of a plasma ion-operated air cleaner in temporal reduction of airborne pollutants emitted from a pig housing facility. In the case of gaseous pollutants, the plasma ion air cleaner was not effective in reducing levels of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, or sulfur dioxide (p>0.05). In the case of particulate pollutants, however, the air cleaner was effective in reducing levels of particulate matter ($PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_1$) by 79(${\pm}6.1$) and 78(${\pm}3.0$)%, respectively. Unlike the case of these fine particle fractions, the reduction of total suspended particles (TSP) and $PM_{10}$ following treatment was almost negligible. In the case of biological pollutants, the mean reduction efficiencies for airborne bacteria and fungi were relatively low at 22(${\pm}6.6$) and 25(${\pm}8.7$)%, respectively. Taken together, these results indicate that in terms of air pollutants released from this pig housing facility, the plasma ion air cleaner was primarily effective in reducing levels of $PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_1$.

화력발전소에서의 국내 배출계수 산정 방안 연구 -먼지를 중심으로- (Estimating PM Emission Factor from Coal-Fired Power Plants in Korea)

  • In Korea, PM (Particulate Matter) emissions caused by coal-fired power plants are measured by a system, so called Clean Air Policy Support System (CAPSS), which uses foreign emission factors. However, the system fails to reflect the characteristics of domestic power plants. In this regard, this study aims to develop local, accurate domestic emission factors. The study measured the amount of TSP (Total Suspended Particulates), PM10 and PM2.5 by collecting samples from the latter parts of pollution control devices which were installed at 3 bituminous-fired power plants and 3 anthracite-fired power plants. The results showed that the average concentrations of TSP, PM10 and PM2.5 measured at bituminous-fired power plants were 4.63 mg/$Sm^3$, 2.96 mg/$Sm^3$ and 3.07 mg/$Sm^3$ respectively, much higher than those from anthracite-fired power plants (2.96 mg/$Sm^3$, 2.47 mg/$Sm^3$ and 1.37 mg/$Sm^3$, respectively). In addition, bituminous-fired power plants showed higher ratios of PM10/TSP and PM2.5/TSP with 0.66 and 0.92, respectively, compared to 0.82 and 0.46, the ratios of PM10/TSP and PM2.5/TSP measured in anthracite-fired power plants. Emission factors based-on concentration measurements were also higher for bituminous-fired power plants, and PM with smaller particles tended to have bigger difference in emission factors between the two fuels. This study calculated the amount of PM emissions by using the estimated emission factors. When it comes to the PM emissions, it was less than that of CAPSS while similar to that of CleanSYS in its amount. It is expected that the emission factors developed by this study will be used in Korea replacing foreign emission factors currently used in Korea by ensuring the objectivity and reliability as domestic emission factors.
