국내의 농업기계에 의해 배출되는 대기 오염 물질 분석 (Analysis of Air Pollutant Emissions from Agricultural Machinery in South Korea)

  • From 2019 onwards, more stringent regulations (from Stage 4 to Stage 5) are to be implemented in Europe in order to reduce the air pollutant emissions. In South Korea, the government authorities started to make new regulation to meet the European regulation. As a first step, the air pollutant emissions such as CO, NOx, SOx, TSP, $PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$, VOC, $NH_3$ by agricultural machinery were analyzed based on CAPSS inventory along with the analysis in the general aspect in this study. Three levels of analysis was conducted each in agricultural machinery aspect along with in the general aspect. Per agricultural tractor, all kinds of the air pollutant emissions decreased by 25, 25, 99, 25, 25, 25, 25% for the CO, NOx, SOx, TSP, $PM_{10}$, VOC, $NH_3$ emissions each from the year 2000 to the year 2014. Per combine harvester, all kinds of the air pollutant emissions decreased by 63, 63, 91, 63, 63, 63, 63% for the CO, NOx, SOx, TSP, $PM_{10}$, VOC, $NH_3$ emissions each from the year 2000 to the year 2014.

  • 유전자 알고리즘은 명료한 방식으로 답을 찾기 어려운 문제, 즉 NP 문제의 경우 효과적인 솔루션을 찾을 수 있다. 단 유전자 알고리즘의 실행 비용은 기존 프로그래밍 방식에 비하여 높은 비용을 요구하게 되므로, 높은 성능의 실행환경을 전제로 한다. 이러한 문제를 조금이나마 줄여보기 위하여 본 연구는 유전자 알고리즘의 돌연변이 연산자를 초점을 맞추고, 돌연변이 연산의 복잡한 실행을 위한 비용을 고려하여, 과연 해당 연산자가 모든 문제 영역에서 반드시 요구될까를 분석하기 위한 실험을 진행한다. 우리 실험 주체는 유전자 알고리즘을 적용하는 대표적인 문제 중의 하나인 TSP(Travelling Salesman Problem)으로 하였다. 돌연변이 연산을 적용하는 경우와 적용하지 않는 경우에 대한 결과값들을 세대수와 적합도 값을 수집하여 분석한다. 그 결과 돌연변이 연산자를 적용하는 경우가 세대수 감소와 적합도 향상의 효과적인 결과를 반드시 보이지는 않았다.

A missense mutation in the coding region of the toll-like receptor 4 gene affects milk traits in Barki sheep

  • Objective: Milk production is one of the most desirable traits in livestock. Recently, the toll-like receptor (TLR) has been identified as a candidate gene for milk traits in cows. So far, there is no information concerning the contribution of this gene in milk traits in sheep. This study was designed to investigate the TLR 4 gene polymorphisms in Barki ewes in Egypt and then correlate that with milk traits in order to identify potential single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for these traits in sheep. Methods: A part of the ovine TLR 4 gene was amplified in Barki ewes, to identify the SNPs. Consequently; Barki ewes were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism protocol. These genotypes were correlated with milk traits, which were the daily milk yield (DMY), protein percentage (PP), fat percentage (FP), lactose percentage, and total solid percentage (TSP). Results: Age and parity of the ewe had a significant effect (p<0.05 or p<0.01) on DMY, FP, and TSP. The direct sequencing identified a missense mutation located in the coding sequence of the gene (rs592076818; c.1710C>A) and was predicted to change the amino acid sequence of the resulted protein (p.Asn570Lys). The association analyses suggested a significant effect (p<0.05) of the TLR genotype on the FP and PP, while the DMY tended to be influenced as well (p = 0.07). Interestingly, the presence of the G allele tended to increase the DMY (+40.5 g/d) and significantly (p<0.05 or p<0.01) decreased the FP (-1.11%), PP (-1.21%), and TSP (-7.98%). Conclusion: The results of this study suggested the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) as a candidate gene to improve milk traits in sheep worldwide, which will enhance the ability to understand the genetic architecture of genes underlying SNPs that affect such traits.

  • Highly toxic chemical warfare agents(CWA) could be used in chemical warfare and terrorism. The protection of skin is crucial for civilians and soldiers, because the primary routes of exposure to CWA are inhalation and skin absorption. Thus, topical skin protectants(TSP) have been studied and developed in many countries to complement protective equipments. In this study, in-vitro test procedure was optimized and established using a flow-through diffusion cell system containing excised hairless mouse skin in an attempt to assess the effectiveness of various TSP formulations against nerve agent simulants. In addition, the test results on the formulations including the ingredients used in SERPACWA(Skin Exposure Reduction Paste Against Chemical Warfare Agent) and IB-1(TSP of Israel) were included, indicating that the formulations with perfluorinated compounds were more effective than the glycerin-based formulations.

최근 터치스크린 Readout 시스템의 연구 경향 (Recent Research Trends in Touchscreen Readout Systems)

  • With the increasing demand for mobile devices featuring multi-touch operation, extensive research is being conducted on touch screen panel (TSP) Readout ICs (ROICs) that should possess low power consumption, compact chip size, and immunity to external noise. Therefore, this paper discusses capacitive touch sensors and their readout circuits, and it introduces research trends in various circuit designs that are robust against external noise sources. The recent state-of-the-art TSP ROICs have primarily focused on minimizing the impact of parasitic capacitance (Cp) caused by thin panel thickness. The large Cp can be effectively compensated using an area-efficient current compensator and Current Conveyor (CC), while a display noise reduction scheme utilizing a noise-antenna (NA) electrode significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Based on these achievements, it is expected that future TSP ROICs will be capable of stable operation with thinner and flexible Touch Screen Panels (TSPs).

Measurement of Airborne Particles and Volatile Organic Compounds Produced During the Heat Treatment Process in Manufacturing Welding Materials

  • Background: There is little information about the airborne hazardous agents released during the heat treatment when manufacturing a welding material. This study aimed to evaluate the airborne hazardous agents generated at welding material manufacturing sites through area sampling. Methods: concentration of airborne particles was measured using a scanning mobility particle sizer and optical particle sizer. Total suspended particles (TSP) and respirable dust samples were collected on polyvinyl chloride filters and weighed to measure the mass concentrations. Volatile organic compounds and heavy metals were analyzed using a gas chromatography mass spectrometer and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer, respectively. Results: The average mass concentration of TSP was 683.1±677.4 ㎍/m3, with respirable dust accounting for 38.6% of the TSP. The average concentration of the airborne particles less than 10 ㎛ in diameter was 11.2-22.8×104 particles/cm3, and the average number of the particles with a diameter of 10-100 nm was approximately 78-86% of the total measured particles (<10 ㎛). In the case of volatile organic compounds, the heat treatment process concentration was significantly higher (p < 0.05) during combustion than during cooling. The airborne heavy metal concentrations differed depending on the materials used for heat treatment. The content of heavy metals in the airborne particles was approximately 32.6%. Conclusions: Nanoparticle exposure increased as the number of particles in the air around the heat treatment process increases, and the ratio of heavy metals in dust generated after the heat treatment process is high, which may adversely affect workers' health.

토양 위해성평가 지침에서 피부흡수발암계수 및 비산먼지농도 인자 개선 (Improvement of Dermal Absorption Slope Factor and Suspended Particle Concentration for Soil Risk Assessment Guideline)

  • A risk assessment on the heavy metals including arsenic (As), cupper (Cu), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) was investigated by setting exposure routes in agricultural fields. Moreover, the factors requiring improvement in risk assessment were also discussed through a review of the dermal absorption slope factor (SFabs) and total amount of suspended particles (TSP) in the current risk assessment guidelines. Assessment results show that the total cancer risk (TCR) of As through crop and soil ingestion was 1.51E-03 in adults and 6.37E-4 in children, which indicated a carcinogenic risk (exceeding 1E-05). On the other side, the harzard index (HI) was 3.37 in adults and 1.41 in children, which was evaluated as having a non-carcinogenic risk (>1). The carcinogenic purification targets for As were calculated to be 6.84 mg/kg in adults and 6.86 mg/kg in children, while the non-carcinogenic purification targets were calculated to be 13.43 mg/kg for adults and 22.54 mg/kg for children. When applying SFabs 61 of the current guidelines, it appears that there is a carcinogenic risk even though the As exposure concentration is below the area of concern 1 standard (25 mg/kg), which suggestes that additional research on this factor is required for the risk assessment. In order to apply the measured suspended particle concentration to risk assessment, TSP should be derived from PM10 using an appropriate correlation equation. As a result, it is suggested to improve the risk assessment guidelines so that the mesured PM10 value measured in the field can be used directly.

사무실 실내공기질과 콘택트렌즈 착용여부가 안구 건조증에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Office Indoor Air Qualitys on the Dry Eye Symptom of Contact Lens Wearers)

  • 목적: 본 연구는 콘택트렌즈 착용 여부와 사무실 실내공기질이 안구건조에 미치는 영향이 있는지 파악하고자 하였다. 방법: 71명의 연구 대상자들의 각 사무실에서 실내공기질이 안구건조에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 이산화탄소($CO_2$), 온도(temperature), 습도(relative humidity), 총 부유분진(TSP), 미세먼지($PM_{10}$), 포름알데히드(HCHO)를 측정분석 하였고, 안구 건조증을 확인하기 위하여 연구 대상자들의 사무실에서 McMonnies dry eye symptom questionnaire, Schirmer Tear Test-I(S.T.T-I), Schirmer Tear Test-II with anesthetics(S.T.T-II), Tear film break-up time(T.B.U.T) 등을 검사 하였다. 결과: 콘택트렌즈 착용여부에 따라 사무실 실내공기질이 안구건조증에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 TSP는 $200{\mu}g/m^3$, $PM_{10}$$86.7{\mu}g/m^3$, 포름알데히드는 $0.4{\sim}1.0{\mu}g/m^3$을 기준으로 농도가 높게 측정되었을 때 유의한 관련성이 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 $CO_2$(p=0.146), 온도(p=0.074)와 습도(p=0.053)는 통계적으로 안구건조와 유의한 관련성이 없는 것으로 분석되었다. 결론: 사무실 재실자의 안구 건조에 $CO_2$ 및 온도, 습도는 유의한 영향이 없었으나, TSP, $PM_{10}$, 포름알데히드의 실내 농도와 콘택트렌즈의 착용여부는 관련이 있었다. 콘택트렌즈 착용에 대한 종합적인 관리와 사무실 실내공기의 개별적인 평가가 함께 이루어져야 하겠다.

일반 인구집단에 대한 대기중 총먼지의 생물학적 노출지표로서 요중 1-hydroxypyrene 및 2-naphthol의 유용성 (Urinary 1-Hydroxypyrene and 2-Naphthol as a Biological Exposure Markers of Total Suspended Particulate in the General Population)

  • Background : Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are well known environmental pollutants. The measurement of PAH in ambient air is not commonly used, because it is quite difficult to perform and is unreliable. Using biomarkers of PAH can be an alternative approach to this problem. The PAH in ambient air is absorbed in particulate matter. Total suspended particulate(TSP) or particulate matter of less than $10{\mu}m$ in diameter (PM10) can be easily measured. Therefore, TSP or PM10 can be used as a surrogate measurements of ambient air PAH. Objectives : We investigated whether the urinary concentration of two biomarkers of PAH, 1-hydroxypyrene (1-OHP) and 2-naphthol, could reflect the total suspended particulate in the general population. Methods : In order to exclude the effects of occupational exposure and smoking, first grade middle school students were included in this study. Four middle schools within a one kilometer boundary of ambient air monitoring stations were selected. Total suspended particulate was regarded as the marker of airborne PAH. Diet and smoking data were collected by self administered questionnaires, and spot urine samples were collected. Urinary 1-OHP and 2-naphthol were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography. Results : The correlation between urinary 1-OHP, 2-naphthol and passive smoking was not statistically significant. The correlation between urinary 1-OHP and TSP indices was not statistically significant. The correlations between urinary 2-naphthol and TSP of two lag days, one lag day, and zero lag days were statistically significant. The statistical significance of two lag days was the strongest (p=0.001), one lag day was the next (p=0.0275), and zero lag days was the weakest (p=0.0349). Conclusion : Our results imply that the urinary concentration of 2-naphthol can be applied as a PAH exposure marker for the general population with low PAH exposure.

국내택배시스템에 개미시스템 알고리즘의 적용가능성 검토 (Application of Ant System Algorithm on Parcels Delivery Service in Korea)

  • 외판원 문제(TSP; Traveling Salesman Problem)는 경로탐색 최적화문제로 '풀리지 않는 문제'(NP-complete; None-deterministic Polynomial-time complete)에 속하므로 경유지 수가 많아짐에 따라 급격히 계산시간이 증가한다. 때문에 적용시 정확한 최적해보다는 최적 근사해에 대한 발견적 (heuristic) 알고리즘들을 이용한다. 본 연구는 TSP에 적용되는 발견적 알고리즘으로 개미 시스템알고리즘(ASA; Ant System Algorithm)을 검토하고. 국내 택배시스템에 ASA의 적용가능성을 검토하였다. ASA는 NP-complete 문제를 위한 발견적 알고리즘으로, 1990년대 초 M. Dorigo 등에 의해 연구되어졌다. ASA는 개미들이 이동간에 페로몬이라는 일종의 화학물질을 분비할 때, 이동경로 상에 분비된 페로몬 누적에 따라 확률적 방법으로 경로를 결정하게 된다. 이러한 ASA는 NP-complete문제에서 계산시간이나 최단경로탐색에서 우수한 결과를 얻는 것으로 발표되고 있으며, 교통분야에서 차량경로탐색뿐만 아니라 네트워크 관리 및 도로선형계획 등 그 적용범위가 점차 확대되어지고 있다. 현재 국내 택배시스템에서 차량배차시 명확한 기준이 없으며 주로 담당 운전자의 경험과 판단에 의해 결정된다. 본 연구에서는 국내택배시스템에 ASA의 적용가능성을 검토하였다. 담당 운전자의 경로결정이 가로 10.0km, 세로 10.0km의 범위에서 인접이웃알고리즘(NNA: Nearest Neighbor Algorithm)을 따른다고 가정했을 때와 랜덤한 20개의 경유지를 가질 때, 그리고 경유지 수를 10개씩 증가하여 200개까지 증가할 때를 비교 분석한 결과, ASA이 NNA 보다 우수하였다. ASA을 국내택배시스템에 적용시 운송비용 절감 등의 운영개선을 기대할 수 있으며, 특히 영세한 택배업체에서 보다 저렴하고 우수한 택배시스템을 구축할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
