Position Control of Linear Actuator with Uncertain Time Delay in VDN

  • Uncertain time delay happens when the process reads the sensor data and sends the control input to the plant located at a remote site in distributed control system. As in the case of data network using TCP/IP, VDN that integrates both device network and data network has uncertain tim e delay. Uncertain time delay can cause degradation in stability of distributed control system based on VDN. This paper investigates the transmission characteristic of VDN and suggests a control scheme based on the Smith's predictor to minimize the effect of uncertain time delay. The validity of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated with tracking position control of experiments.

  • In all Rapid Prototyping (RP) processes, a CAD solid model is sliced ito thin layers of uniform, but not necessarily constant, thickness in the building direction. Each cross-sectional layer is successively deposited and, at the same tim, bonded onto the previous layer; the stacked layers form a physical part of the model. The objective of this study is to develop a methode for calculating the rotational angle(θ/sub x/, θ/sub y/) of the linear hotwire cutting system in the three-dimensional space for the Variable Lamination Manufacturing process using expandable polystyrene foam sheet (VLM-S). In order to examine the applicability of the developed method to VLM-S, various three-dimensional shapes, such s a screw, an extruded cross, and a figure of Sonokong, were made using the data obtaiend from the method.

  • The main purpose to introduce model based controller in proposed control technique is to provide better and fast learning of the floating dynamics by means of fuzzy logic controller and also cancelling effect of nonlinear terms of the system. An iterative adaptive dynamic programming algorithm is proposed to deal with the optimal trajectory-tracking control problems for autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The optimal tracking control problem is converted into an optimal regulation problem by system transformation. Then the optimal regulation problem is solved by the policy iteration adaptive dynamic programming algorithm. Finally, simulation example is given to show the performance of the iterative adaptive dynamic programming algorithm.

  • To investigate characteristics and micro-explosion of single-droplets of emulsified fuel, water is mixed with diesel oil by using ultrasonic energy fuel feeding system. The fuel characteristics is analysed through H-NMR spectrum and micro-explosion phenomena of the emulsified fuel is also investigated. The life times of droplets of conventional diesel fuel, ultrasonic energy added diesel fuel and emulsified fuel we obtained additionally. According to this study, the micro-explosion phenomena of single-droplets happen in atmospheric pressure condition, a curve form of emulsified fuel's life tim is different from diesel fuel's one and the change of chemical structures is a cause of ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel effect.

Maize improvement largely driven by contributions from many loci of small effect

  • In recent decades, scientists have had great success identifying specific loci that contribute to the variability of agronomically important phenotypes. But, while loci of large-effect remain the simplest and most commonly identified in genomic studies, mounting evidence suggests that a substantial proportion of crop evolution is driven by loci of small effect. In this talk, results demonstrating that large-effect loci are not the primary driver of maize evolution will be presented, along with a new method to test quantitative traits for evidence of past selection. By applying this this method to a maize breeding population, we show that agronomic traits important for breeding are often dictated by loci of small effect. The implications of these results for driving crop improvement will be discussed, including their potential application to breeding protocols that anticipate global climate change.

  • Indium Tim Oxide(ITO) thin film was prepared for TOLEDs by Facing Targets Sputtering(FTS) apparatus which can suppress the damage of organic layer due to the collisions of high energetic particles. In particular, ITO thin film was prepared with changing the distance between two targets for reduced the bombardment by high energetic particles such as ${\gamma}-electron$ or negative oxygen ions. The electrical and optical properties of ITO thin films as a function of distance of between two targets were measured. Additionally, the ITO thin films were prepared on the cell (cell : MgAg/LiF/EML/HTL/ bottom electrode) with distance of between two targets. And the I-V characteristics of ITO/cell was investigated.

  • In korea, it has been recently issued to enforce the 5 days-working system, which may cause the considerable increase in the leisure time and lifestyles. The purpose of this study is to find out major characteristics of leisure to establish the theoretical framework for leisure behavior by considering various theories. Each of theories provides the frame of thinking for leisure tim use, the relationship with labor, the transmission of leisure type and the change of leisure value and consciousness. Therefore findings will be the foundation for the future study that finds out more actual factors. Having examined how the leisure behavior is interpreted in various theories will help us to better understand why the demand for leisure time and activities has developed and will develope rapidly.

LMI based criterion for reinforced concrete frame structures

  • Due to the influence of nonlinearity and time-variation, it is difficult to establish an accurate model of concrete frame structures that adopt active controllers. Fuzzy theory is a relatively appropriate method but susceptible to human subjective experience to decrease the performance. To guarantee the stability of multi-time delays complex system with multi-interconnections, a delay-dependent criterion of evolved design is proposed in this paper. Based on this criterion, the sector nonlinearity which converts the nonlinear model to multiple rule base of the linear model and a new sufficient condition to guarantee the asymptotic stability via Lyapunov function is implemented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). A numerical simulation for a three-layer reinforced concrete frame structure subjected to earthquakes is demonstrated that the proposed criterion is feasible for practical applications.

  • In this paper, we deal wit,11 a simple tim varying feedforward compensator in order to decrease the amount of undershoots and overshoots on the step response. This compensator makes the step type input be a ramp input with saturation for 0 $\leq$ t < $\alpha$. It will be shown that the system with the feedforward compensator has small amount of undershoot and overshoot at the price of rise time. Also, provided the system properly stable, the influence of the design parameter $\alpha$ on the step response of the system with the feedforward compensator is investigated in the current paper.

  • Inoculation of human fecal cysts to suckling Mongolian gerbils, two Giardia lamblia isolates, Kl and K2, were established as axenic cultures. Using this in vitro culture, both two Giardia isolates were grouped by using two genetic analysis. With genetic analysis of SSS-rDNA sequences, both K1 and K2 were found as members of hopkins'group 1, despite some nucleotide differences noticed in K1 (5 differences/292 bases.). The other genetic study used PCI-RFLP of the tim (triose phosphate isomerase) Nash's group 2 can bot be a separate group, but a part of Hopkins' group 1.
