The needs for visualizing interactive multimedia contents on portable devices with realistic three dimensional shapes are increasing as new ubiquitous services are coming into reality. Especially in digital fashion applications with virtual reality technologies for clothes of various forms on different avatars, it is required to provide very high quality visual models over mobile networks. Due to limited network bandwidths and memory spaces of portable devices, it is very difficult to transmit visual data effectively and render realistic appearance of three dimensional images. In this thesis, we propose a compression method to reduce three dimensional data for digital fashion applications. The three dimensional model includes animation of avatar which require very large amounts of data over time. Our proposed method utilizes temporal and spatial coherence of animation data, to reduce the amount. By grouping vertices from three dimensional models, the entire animation is represented by a movement path of a few representative vertices. The existing three dimensional model compression approaches can get benefits from the proposed method by reducing the compression sources through grouping. We expect that the proposed method to be applied not only to three dimensional garment animations but also to generic deformable objects.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body, the three dimensional anatomical angle according to sweep shot in ice hockey. The subjects of this study were five professional ice hockey players. The reflective makers were attached on anatomical boundary line of body. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVIEW 6.1 graphical programming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and ice hockey stick were defined. 1. In three dimensional linear velocity of blade the Y axis showed maximum linear velocity almost impact, the X axis(horizontal direction) and the Z axis(vertical direction) maximum linear velocity of blade did not show at impact but after impact this will resulted influence upon hitting puck. 2. The resultant linear velocity of each segment of right arm showed maximum resultant linear velocity at impact. It could be suggest that the right arm swing patterns is kind of push-like movement. therefore the upper arm is the most important role in the right arm swing. 3. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk in flexion-extension showed flexion all around the wrist shot. The angular displacement of trunk in internal-external rotation showed internal rotation angle at the backswing top and and increased the angle after the impact. while there is no significant adduction-abduction. 4. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk showed most important role in wrist shot. and is follwed by shoulder joints, in addition the movement of elbow/wrist joints showed least to the shot. this study result showed upperlimb of left is more important role than upperlimb of right.
Three-dimensional image reconstruction allows us to represent real objects in the virtual space and observe the objects at arbitrary view points. This technique can be used in various application areas such as education, culture, and art. In this paper, we propose an implementation method of the high-quality three-dimensional object using multiple Kinect cameras released from Microsoft. First, We acquire color and depth images from triple Kinect cameras; Kinect cameras are placed in front of the object as a convergence form. Because original depth image includes some areas where have no depth values, we employ joint bilateral filter to refine these areas. In addition to the depth image problem, there is an color mismatch problem in color images of multiview system. In order to solve it, we exploit an color correction method using three-dimensional geometry. Through the experimental results, we found that three-dimensional object which is used the proposed method is more naturally represented than the original three-dimensional object in terms of the color and shape.

Most of the research on three-dimensional interaction field have showed different accuracy in terms of sensing, mode and method. Furthermore, implementation of interaction has been a lack of consistency in application field. Therefore, this study is to suggest research trends of three-dimensional interaction using meta-analysis. Searching relative keyword in database provided with 153 domestic papers and 188 international papers covering three-dimensional interaction. Analytical coding tables determined 18 domestic papers and 28 international papers for analysis. Frequency analysis was carried out on method of action, element, number, accuracy and then verified accuracy by effect size of the meta-analysis. As the results, the effect size of sensor-based was higher than vision-based, but the effect size was extracted to small as 0.02. The effect size of vision-based using hand motion was higher than sensor-based using hand motion. Therefore, implementation of three-dimensional sensor-based interaction and vision-based using hand motions more efficient. This study was significant to comprehensive analysis of three-dimensional motion recognition for interaction and suggest to application directions of three-dimensional interaction.

This paper proposes a method for measurement three-dimensional trajectories of bubbles generated around a swimmer's arms from stereo high-speed camera videos. This method is based on two techniques: two-dimensional trajectory estimation in single-camera images and trajectory pair matching in stereo-camera images. The two-dimensional trajectory is estimated by block matching using similarity of bubble shape and probability of bubble displacement. The trajectory matching is achieved by a consistensy test using epipolar constraint in multiple frames. The experimental results in two-dimensional trajectory estimation showed the estimation accuracy of 47% solely by the general optical flow estimation, whereas 71% taking the bubble displacement into consideration. This concludes bubble displacement is an efficient aspect in this estimation. In three-dimensional trajectory estimation, bubbles were visually captured moving along the flow generated by an arm; which means an efficient material for swimmers to swim faster.
Three-dimensional dynamic analyses of underground openings subjected to explosive loadings are carried out. Dynamic analyses consist of two steps; one-dimensional source calculation and three-dimensional tunnel analysis. One-dimensional source calculation includes explosive charge and the free field surrounding rock. The input pressure time history for three-dimensional tunnel analysis is obtained from the companion one-dimensional source calculation. The computer program MPDAP-3D incorporated this analysis capability. It is shown that the computer program is a useful tool for the analysis of the structural safety evaluation of underground openings during construction by drill and blasting method.
Lately, ocean nuclear power plants have attracted attention as one of diverse uses of nuclear power plants. Because ocean nuclear power plants are movable or transportable, it is necessary to analyze the thermal hydraulics in a moving frame of reference, and computer codes have been developed to predict thermal hydraulics in large moving systems. The purpose of this study is to incorporate a three dimensional dynamic motion model into the SPACE code (Safety and Performance Analysis CodE) so that the code is able to analyze thermal hydraulics in an ocean nuclear power plant. A rotation system that describes three-dimensional rotations about an arbitrary axis was implemented, and modifications were made to the one-dimensional momentum equations to reflect the rectilinear and rotational acceleration effects. To demonstrate the code's ability to solve a problem utilizing a rotational frame of reference, code calculations were conducted on various conceptual problems in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional pipeline loops. In particular, the code results for the three-dimensional pipeline loop with a tilted rotation axis agreed well with the multi-dimensional CFD results.

For the medical analysis of the three-dimensional structure such as the mandible, it is necessary to reconstruct the structure into the finite number of analyzable elements. The information of the three-dimensional structure can be obtained from the cross-sections of the magnetic resonance image (MRI). A region corresponding to the structure is extracted from the inner part of the cross- section. By the triangulation of the sampled cross-section image, two-dimensional finite elements are generated. Three-dimensional finite elements are constructed by matching the two dimensional finite elements each other in space. In this paper a construction method of the optimal three-dimensional finite elements has been suggested, which uses the adjacent information abstracted from the triangulated two-dimensional finite elements. The elements are classified into the identical property sets by using the adjacent information of the traingulated two-dimensional elements. After applying the multistep matching algorithm to the classified two-dimensional finite elements, the optimal three-dimensional finite elements can be construccted. By analyzing the constructed finite elements, it is possible to get much more useful medical information about the three-dimensional struture of mandible.
This thesis deals with a method to solve a two-and-one-half-dimensional ($2\frac12$ D) problem, which means that the ocean environment is two-dimensional whereas the source is fully three-dimensionally propagating, including three-dimensional refraction phenomena and three-dimensional back-scattering, using two-dimensional two-way parabolic equation method combined with Fourier synthesis. Two dimensional two-way parabolic equation method uses Galerkin's method for depth and Crank-Nicolson method and alternating direction for range and provides a solution available to range-dependent problem with wave-field back-scattered from discontinuous interface. Since wavenumber, k, is the function of depth and vertical or horizontal range, we can reduce a dimension of three-dimensional Helmholtz equation by Fourier transforming in the range direction. Thus transformed two-dimensional Helmholtz equation is solved through two-way parabolic equation method. Finally, we can have the $2\frac12$ D solution by inverse Fourier transformation of the spectral solution gained from in the last step. Numerical simulation has been carried out for a canonical ocean environment with stair-step bottom in order to test its accuracy using the present analysis. With this spectral parabolic equation method, we have examined three-dimensional acoustic propagation properties in a specified site in the Korean Straits.
