  • This test was performed to evaluate the change of the unconfined compressive strength, strength parame¡?ters which resulted from direct shear test and oil residue percents analyzed by GC-MS as time lapse, oil addition. Unconfined compression strength of $10\%$ kerosene added by weight of dry soil recovered as time passed. In the case of $5\%$ kerosene added, the strength recovered as much as clean clayey soil after about 50 days passing. For the case of diesel added, the recovery of unconfined compressive strength was not shown even though about 60 days passed. The strength parameters (c, $\psi$) of kerosene added not changed but for diesel added, the cohesion was very decreased as diesel addition increased. Residual percent of kerosene in the soil was less than that of diesel as time passed.

  • The contaminant seperation performance of fitters has been widely investigated for many years. However, most of the proposed filter assessment techniques have proven disappointing for practical use. Although the Multipass (Beta) Filtration test method (ISO 4572) provides valuable information in assessing fi ters, it has a limitation on evaluating the increasing family of low-flow and high Beta filters. The limitation stems from two main sources: the over simplified theoretical model and the inherently complicated procedure in analysis of data. Hence a new advanced filtration theory, the Beta Prime developed on a draw-down test basis is applied to predict field operating characteristics of a filter for tractor hydraulic systems in this study.

  • To assess the effect of butachlor on freshwater aquatic organisms, acute toxicity studies for algae, invertebrate and fishes were conducted. The algae grow inhibition studies were carried out to determine the growth inhibition effects of butachlor (Tech. 93.4%) in Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (formerly knows as Selenastrum capriconutum), Desmodesmus subspicatus (formerly known as Scendusmus subspicatus), and Chlorella vulgaris during the exposure period of 72 hours. The toxicological responses of P. subcapitata, D. subspicatus, and C. vulgaris to butachlor, expressed in individual $ErC_{50}$ values were 0.002, 0.019, and $10.4mgL^{-1}$, respectively and NOEC values were 0.0008, 0.0016, and $5.34mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively. P. subcapitata was more sensitive than any other algae species. Butachlor has very high toxicity to the algae, such as P. subcapitata and D. subspicatu. In the acute immobilisation test for Daphnia magna, the 24 and $48h-EC_{50}$ values were 2.55 and $1.50mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively. As the results of the acute toxicity test on Cyprinus carpio, Oryzias latipes and Misgurnus anguillicaudatus, the $96h-LC_{50}s$ were 0.62, 0.41 and $0.24mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively. The following ecological risk assessment of butachlor was performed on the basis of the toxicological data of algae, invertebrate and fish and exposure concentrations in rice paddy, drain and river. When a butachlor formulation is applied in rice paddy field according to label recommendation, the measured concentration of butachlor in paddy water was $0.41mg\;L^{-1}$ and the predicted environmental concentration (PEC) of butachlor in drain water was $0.03 mg\;L^{-1}$. Residues of butachlor detected in major rivers between 1997 and 1998 were ranged from $0.0004mg\;L^{-1}$ to $0.0029mg\;L^{-1}$. Toxicity exposure ratios (TERs) of algae in rice paddy, drain and river were 0.004, 0.05 and 0.36, respectively and indicated that butachlor has a risk to algae in rice paddy, drain and river. On the other hand, TERs of invertebrate in rice paddy, drain and river were 3.6, 50 and 357, respectively, well above 2, indicating no risk to invertebrate. TERs of fish in rice paddy, drain and river were 0.58, 8 and 57, respectively. The TERs for fish indicated that butachlor poses a risk to fish in rice paddy but has no risk to fish in agricultural drain and river. In conclusion, butachlor has a minimal risk to algae in agricultural drain and river exposed from rice drainage but has no risk to invertebrate and fish.

  • To assess the risk of pesticides on earthworm, the acute toxicities of 10 pesticides were investigated and their toxicity exposure ratios(TERs) were calculated. As the TERs of paraquat dichloride and pendimethalin were more than 100, their risks were rated negligible. Risk of benfuracarb, cadusafos, chlorpyrifos-methyl, endosulfan, isazofos and parathion which have TERs of $10\sim100$ were rated low. However, risk of imidacloprid and phorate which have TER of less than 10 were estimated highly to need a reproduction study. Earthworms were exposed to twenty two pesticides including dazomet 98% GR having PECs of more than $5mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$ in artificial soil at standard and double dose for 14 days. All the earthworms exposed to dazomet 98% GR and metam-sodium 25% SL were died to show their high risk, while no serious adverse effects were observed in the soil treated with 15 pesticides, calcite 95% WP, calcium polysulfide 36% CF, chlorothalonil 75% WP, daminozide 85% WP, dichlonil 6.7% GR, etridiazole 25% EC, fosetyl-Al 80% WP, glyphosate 41 % SL, hymexazol 30% SL, iprodione 50% WP, machine oil 95% EC, mancozeb 75% WP, propineb 70% WP, terbuthylazine 80% WP and triazophos 40% EC. In case of thiophanate-methyl 70% WP, copper hydroxide 77% WP, dimethoate 46% EC, tolclofos-methyl 50% WP and propamocarb hydrochloride 67% SL, any effect did not show clearly, suggesting an additional subchronic toxicity study. The risk of thiophanate-methyl 70% WP to earthworm was estimated high, considering its subchronic effect, while effects of copper hydroxide 77% WP, dimethoate 46% EC, tolclofos-methyl 50% WP and propamocarb hydrochloride 67% SL to earthworms were negligible, considering no adverse effects in subchronic tests.

  • 80% Ni-Permalloy is soft magnetic material with high initial permeability and low magnetic coercive force Hc, and is used to computer memory cores and minirelays of communication e-ngineering. In this paper 80 Permalloy thin film on copper cathode was alloy-deposited from Watts so-lution contatining FeSO4$.$7H2O. The amount of FeSO4$.$7H2O in the solution, pH, temperature of the solution and plating current density were varied as parameters and the resulting comp-osition changes of deposited film were analyzed electrochemically with respect to the parame-ters. From the above procedure electroplating conditions for deposition of 80 Permalloy were est-ablished as following: 17-21 g/$\ell$ of FeSO4$.$7H2O in Watts solution, current density 1.0-2.0 Amp/dm2, pH 2.5-3.0 and temperature range of 50-60$^{\circ}C$.

  • The impact of fiber friction, yarn twist, and splicing air pressure on mechanical and structural properties of spliced portion have been reported in the present paper. The mechanical properties include the tensile and bending related properties and, in the structural properties, the diameter and packing density of the splices are studied. A three variable three level factorial design approach proposed by Box and Behnken has been used to design the experiment. The results indicate that there is a strong correlation between retained spliced strength (RSS) and retained splice elongation (RSE) with all the experimental variables. It has been observed that RSS increases with the increase in splice air pressure and after certain level it drops, whereas it consistently increases with the increase in yarn twist. The RSE increases with the increase in both fiber friction and yarn twist. It has also been observed that the yarn twist and splicing air pressure have significant influence on splice diameter, percent increase in diameter and retained packing coefficient, but the fiber friction has negligible influence on these parameters. Yarn twist and splicing air pressure has a strong correlation with splice flexural rigidity, where as poor correlation with retained flexural rigidity.

  • The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the possibility of application of pediatric hemodialysis system to dogs weighing less than 6 kg. Six healthy dogs (B .W, 3-6 kg) were used_ Experimental end-stage renal failure was induced by bilateral nephrectomy or bilateral ligation of ure-ters. Hemodialysis was performed when blood urea nitrogen (BUN) value increased over 90 mg/dl and every other day thereafter. Daily investigated parameters included clinical clinical signs such as vomiting, fecal appearance and activity and laboratory data such as PCV, WBC, RBC, BUN, creatinine, Ca, P, $Na^+ Cl^-and K^+$During hemodialysis treatment, BUN and creatinine values were measured hourly. Severe vomiting and inappetence were shown 2 days after infliction of kidney disorder and melena and mucous faces were observed 3 days. The signs were not corrected by hemodialysis treatment. Avel- age hemodialysis treatment time was $5.5 {\times} 0.7$,/TEX> hours until BUN value decreased to normal range. Abnor- mal hematological and electrolytes values were reduced within normal levels after hemodialysis treatments. The complications oft hemodialysis included vomiting, nausea, obstruction of intravascular catheter, tremor, seizure, temporary visual loss and continued decrease in PCV It is suggested that pediatric hemedialysis system can be applied to acute renal failure and acute toxicity. Further works on improvements in maintaining patency of catheter and in managing the complications of hemo- dialysis should be conducted.

  • This article provides an overview of Raman spectroscopy and its practical applications for surface analysis of semiconductor processes including real-time monitoring. Raman spectroscopy is a technique that uses the inelastic scattering of light to provide information on molecular structure and vibrations. Since its inception in 1928, Raman spectroscopy has undergone continuous development, and with the advent of SERS(Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy), TERS(Tip Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy), and confocal Raman spectroscopy, it has proven to be highly advantageous in nano-scale analysis due to its high resolution, high sensitivity, and non-destructive nature. In the field of semiconductor processing, Raman spectroscopy is particularly useful for substrate stress and interface characterization, quality analysis of thin films, elucidation of etching process mechanisms, and detection of residues.

  • Futurists objected the existent style, that is the conventional fashion, and took part in these disciplines of fashion to make clothes the instruments being able to represent the individuality. Giacomo Balla and fortunato Depero, pain-ters who in 1915 were to work with Diaghilev's company, were the first to see clothing as a dynamic interfaced between th body and the atmosphere, between physical gestures and the urban context, which could be translated into encounters between forms and colours, volumes and architecture. For them, clothing began to exist as an object and an event, something to be removed from a mainly static conception and made mobile, active. The interaction between movement and clothing was based on the relativity of perception : the appearance and disappearance of the body produced points without dimension or duration which served, as Balla wrote in the Futurist Mnaifesto of Men's Clothing to“renew incessantly the enjoyment and impetuous movement of the body”. The historical achievement in the effort for the reformation of Futurist, Art to Wear. First, for Futurist, clothing is removed from a static conception and focused on dynamics. Second, Balla used asymmetry in men's clothing. Moreover he supposed dynamic men's clothes by using optical intersection. Third, the after image of Chronophotograph represented rapidity. This rhythmic expression is the fore-runner in Optical and Kinetic Art of Visual Art. Fourth, Futurist emphasized flexibility in fashion. They aimed to create‘Clothing Machines’whose parts would interact to aceelerate the real and virtual, inner and outer movement of the human being. Fifth, the variety and short life of cutting skills and colors are focused and‘Fast Substance’in fashion is admitted by Futurists. Futurist concern with clothing was not lim-ited its appearance in terms of cut and colour. What important was also the way it appeared and disappeared according to fashion. It was a“fast substance”, able to reflect rapid, sudden changes of social and aesthetic taste. To reach to the aim of internationalization, Gesamtkunstwerk in our Art to Wear, it is extremely meaningful to examine art fashion which is created under the conception of Gesamtkunstwerk production of avang garde artist in the early 20th century and look at formative conscious of truth, goodess and beauty synthetically which they faced on their works of art.

  • Four specimens of Megalaspis cordyla(Linnaeus) belonging to the family Carangidae and three specimens of Champsodon snyderi Franz belonging to the family Champsodontidae were collected for the first time from Nam-hae and Pusan, Korea. Megalaspis cordyla is similar to other genera, but differs in some morphological charac-ters : the presence of finlets, the beginning portion and shape of scutes, and the length of pec-toral fin. A new Korean name "Ko-d$\breve{u}$ng-ka-ra-ji" is proposed for the M. cordyla. Champsodon snyderi is differs from C. capensis in the number of pectoral fins and the pres-ence of scale on cheek ; from C. longipinnis in having a pale spinous dorsal fin ; from C. guen-theri and C. machaeratus in having 11 lower gill rakers, 19 soft dorsal fin rays. A new Korean name "Ak-$\hat{o}$-chi" is proposed for the C. snyderi.
