  • An experiment was performed to show the bio-signal characteristics of the Stuckyi when was heated. To measure the bio-signal of the plant, this study used the electrode with copper(+) and constantan(-). The electrode was directly inserted into the Stuckyi stems. And used T-type thermocouple to measure the inside temperature of the Stuckyi. During the experiments, room temperature also measured with T-type thermocouple. Heating was made with hair dryer periodically that 3 times turned on for heating 5 min and off for non-heating 25 min. Under the situation, the responses of the Stuckyi including voltage potential and inside temperature were measured using data logger(HP-34970A) according to the distances(15cm, 30cm, 45cm) between hair dryer and the plant. Through the experiments, We knew that the inside temperature has similar level and behavior with the room temperature at normal state. And during heating period, the inside temperature and the potential were also simultaneously increased sharply. From the experiments, we revealed that the measuring system of bio-signal of the plant being proposed in this study can be useful to show the Characteristics of the plants.

  • Forest fuel moisture content is a crucial factor influencing the combustion rate and fuel consumption during forest fires, significantly impacting the occurrence and spread of wildfires. In this study, meteorological data were gathered using a meteorological measuring device (HOBO data logger) installed in the south and north slopes of Kangwon National University Forest, as well as on bare land outside the forest, from November 1, 2021, to October 31, 2022. The objective was to analyze the relationship between meteorological data and fuel moisture content. Fuel moisture content from the ground cover on the south and north slopes was collected. Fallen leaves on the ground were utilized, with a focus on broad-leaved trees (Prunus serrulata, Quercus dentata, Quercus mongolica, and Castanea crenata) and coniferous trees (Pinus densiflora and Pinus koraiensis), categorized by species. Additionally, correlation analysis with fuel moisture content was conducted using temperature (average, maximum, and minimum), humidity (average, minimum), illuminance (average, maximum, and minimum), and wind speed (average, maximum, and minimum) data collected by meteorological measuring devices in the study area. The results indicated a significant correlation between meteorological factors such as temperature, humidity, illuminance, and wind speed, and the moisture content of fuels. Notably, exceptions were observed for the moisture content of the on the north slope and that of the ground cover of Prunus serrulata and Castanea crenata.

  • This study is to observe the change of temperature and relative humidity for various vegetables in vacuum precooling system. The materials for experiments were the lettuce, chinese cabbage, pak choi and cabbage. The experimental apparatus was constructed of vacuum chamber, vapor/water separator, water tank, pumps ejecting and cooling water circulation, refrigerator unit, cooling coil for water cooling, Hygrometer and Data logger measuring of the temperature change. The experiments were operated in 20torr and recorded every 3 minutes. It was found that the cooling temperature and speed of vegetables are depending on the percentage of its water content. The more water contains, the faster cooling speed and the lower cooling temperature.

  • As global warming accelerates, eco-friendly electric cars are being developed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and power conversion inverters are used to drive motors. Among inverter components, DC-link capacitor is heated by high current usage, which causes problems such as performance and life-saving of inverter. Although metal cases with good thermal performance have been used to solve this problem, it is difficult to apply them in practice due to insulation problems with other parts. In this paper, the Heat-Generation influence factor of DC-link capacitor is analyzed. Variables on heat-generation are set at 3 levels for film width, inductance, and film thickness. Box-Behnken to 13 tests using the design and minimal deviations, e.g. through the experiment three times by each level. The surface of the film k type by attaching the sensor current is measured temperature. Capacitance was set to a minimum level of 200 ㎌ and had a frequency of 16 kHz with Worst case, ambient temperature of 85℃ and a ripple current of 50 Ams was applied. The temperature at the measurement point was collected in the data logger after sampling at 1 minute intervals for 2 hours after saturation with the ambient temperature. This experiment confirmed that setup factors are correlated with heat-generation.

  • Recently, measuring instruments for SHM of structures has been developed. In general, the wireless transmission of sensor signals, compared to its wired counterpart, is preferable due to the absence of triboelectric noise and elimination of the requirement of a cumbersome cable. However, in extreme environments, the sensor may be less sensitive to temperature changes and to the distance between the sensor and data logger. This may compromise on the performance of the sensor and instrumentation. Therefore, in this paper, free vibration experiments were conducted using wireless MEMS sensors at an actual site. Measurement was assessed in time and frequency domain by changing the temperature variation at($-8^{\circ}C$, $-12^{\circ}C$ and $-16^{\circ}C$) and the communication distance (20m, 40m, 60m, 80m).

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the decrease of forest biomass by forest thinning and the change of temperature in the natural forest by measuring forest biomass and temperature before and after forest thinning in the Pusan National University forest where afforestation had been carried out. We intended to investigate the relationship between the forest biomass, estimated by calculating the Basal area, Crown area and Crown volume using the same formula to the same quadrat before and after forest thinning, and the forest temperature. Temperature measurement was carried out on April 20, 2016 through 28 before forest thinning, July 26, 2016 through November 4 around the time of forest thinning, and April 15, 2017 through May 8 after forest thinning. A temperature data logger was installed to point north at the height of 2.0 m above the ground in the center of the quadrat to record data every 10 minutes during the measurement periods. We used the AWS (Automatic Weather Station) data of the Dongnae-gu area located in the nearby city because it was difficult to set the control group since the whole forest was the subject to the forest thinning. The analysis of the relationship between forest biomass change and temperature showed that the change in temperature inside the forest was the greatest in the midday (12:00 - 15: 00) and was highly correlated with the Crown volume in the forest biomass. The temperature increase was much larger (average $1.91^{\circ}C$) 1 year after forest thinning than immediately after forest thinning (average $0.74^{\circ}C$). The comparison of the decrease rate of Crown volume and the increase in temperature showed that the Pitch pine community, which showed the highest decrease of Crown volume by 15.4%, recorded the highest temperature rise of $1.06^{\circ}C$ immediately after forest thinning and $2.49^{\circ}C$ 1 year after forest thinning. The Pitch pine-Korean red pine community, which showed the lowest Crown volume reduction rates with 5.0%, recorded no significant difference immediately after forest thinning but a temperature rise of $0.92^{\circ}C$ 1 year after forest thinning. The results confirmed that the decrease of forest biomass caused by forest thinning led to a rapid increase of the internal temperature. The fact that the temperature increase was more severe after 1 year than immediately after forest thinning confirmed that the microclimate changes due to the removed biomass cannot be recovered in a short time.
