  • We have investigated gas-detection characteristics of CuTBP (Copper-tetra-tert-butylphthalocyanine) chemiresistor devices exposed to air/200ppm N $O_{2}$ gases. The CuTBP films were made by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) techniques. Sensitivity, response time, recovery time, and reproducibility of the devices were measured by current voltage characteristics. Interdigital electrode was used to improve the sensitivity. It was observed that a conductance G increases monotonically as the number of interdigital electrode finger pairs increases. As the number of interdigital electrode finger pairs increases, the sensitivity S( $G_{gas}$/ $G_{air}$) increases more than 50 times and stable. But the response time was delayed. The average recovery time of the CuTBP chemiresistor devices turned out to be about 100 second. We have also investigated applicability of the CuTBP chemiresistor device for a gas sensor.sor.

Zero-Length Crosslinking Study on Interactions of TBP, GAL4-AH, and TFIIB in the Preinitiation Complex (전사개시전 복합체에서 TBP, GAL4-AH, TFIIB의 상호작용에 대한 Zero-Length Crosslinking 실험)

  • A zero-Iength croessinking procedure for studying protein-protein interactlons in preinitiation complex has heen developed. Preinltiadon complexes were assembled with immobilized DNA templates coupled to metal beads. Pudfied complexes were dIrectly crosslinked by 1-ethyl-3.(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodlimide (EDC). The reaction was stopped by addition of $\beta$-mercaptoethanol, and the complexes were isolated from EDC immedIately. An appllcatlion of this method with a preinltlation complex assembled with TBP, TFIIB, and GAL4-AH demonstrated that ThP dIrectly interacts with GAL4-AH and TFIIB in the prelnitlatlon complex. However, croeslinked produd between GAL4-AH and ThilB was not observed. These resutts lndlcate that GAL4-AH does not stably Interact with TFIIB In the GAL4-AH-TFIIB-TBP-DNA prelnitlatlon complex.

  • Solvent extraction behavior of Sn(IV) from hydrochloric acid solution was investigated using TBP(Tri-butyl Phosphate) as an extractant. The experimental parameters, such as the concentration of HCl solution, chloride ions, extractant, and Sn were observed. Experimental results showed that the extraction percent of Sn was increased with increasing the hydrochloric acid and chloride ion concentration. More than 98% of Sn was extracted in 7.0 M HCl by 10% TBP. The optimum extraction stages of Sn for continuous extraction process was theoretically calculated by analysizing the McCabe-Thiele diagram. Stripping of Sn from the loaded organic phases can be accomplished by NaOH as a stripping reagent effectively and 99.3% of Sn was stripped by 2.0M NaOH solution.

Evaluation of co- and Sequential Separation for Tc, Np and U by a $(TBP-TOA)/n-dodecane-HNO_3$ Extraction System ($(TBP-TOA)/n-dodecane-HNO_3$ 추출 계에 의한 Tc, Np, U의 공추출 및 순차분리 평가)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the co- and sequential separation of Tc, Np and U from the simulated multi-component HLW solution by a TBP (tributyl phosphate)-TOA (tri- octyl amine)/NDD $(n-dodecane)-HNO_3$ extraction system. An optimal condition of (30% TBP-0.5% TOA)/NDD-1 M $HNO_3$ was selected by taking account of a prevention of the 3rd phase and effects of concentration of TBP, TOA and nitric acid on the co-extraction of Tc, Np and U. In that condition, the extraction yields were 81% (Tc), 85% (Np), less than 9% (Am and RE elements), about 8% (Pd), and less than 5% (other elements) so that the system developed for the co-extraction of Tc, Np and U was proved to be available. For that, however, more than 99% of Zr was found to be pre-removed. The co-extracted Tc, Np and U were sequentially separated in order of Tc(stripping agent : 5 M $HNO_3$)${\rightarrow}Np$ by reductive stripping (reductive-stripping agent : 0.1 M AHA)${\rightarrow}U$ (stripping agent : 0.01 M $HNO_3$), and then their separation factors were evaluated. At these conditions, 95% of Tc, 98% of Np and 99% of U could be recovered in each step.

Recovery of Golden yellow and Cibacron LSG dyes from aqueous solution by bulk liquid membrane technique

  • Tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) was used as carrier for the transport of Golden yellow and Cibacron LSG dyes through a hexane bulk liquid membrane. The transport efficiency of dyes by TBP was investigated under various experimental conditions such as pH of the feed phase (dyes solution), concentration of the receiving phase (NaOH solution), concentration of TBP in membrane, rate of stirring, effect of transport time, type of solvent, dye concentration in feed phase, effect of temperature.. The maximum transport dyes occurs at ratio of 1:1 TBP-hexane At pH 3.0 0.1 (feed phase) the transport dyes decreased. At high stirring speed (300 rpm) the dyes transport from the feed phase to the strip phase was completed within 60 minutes at $27^{\circ}C$. Under optimum conditions: Feed phase 100 mg/L dyes solution at pH 1.0 0.1, receiving phase 0.1 mol/L NaOH solution, membrane phase 1:1 TBP-hexane , Stirring speed 300 rpm and temperature $27^{\circ}C$, the proposed liquid membrane was applied to recover the textile effluent.

Solvent Extraction of Rhodium(III) and Iridium(IV) from Hydrochloric Acid Solution (염산용액에서 로듐(III)과 이리듐(IV)의 용매추출)

  • Solvent extraction experiments of Rh(III) and Ir(IV) were performed on the HCl solution by using Alamine336 and TBP. The extraction percentage of Rh and Ir by Alamine336 was much higher than that by TBP. For the solvent extraction with Alamine336, the extraction percentage of Rh and Ir decreased with a HCl concentration. However, the extraction percentage of both metals by TBP was below 12% in our experimental range and increased with an increasing HCl concentration of up to 8 M. From the mixed solution of Ir with an excess SnCl$_{2}$, most of the tin was extracted by Alamine336 and TBP. However, the extraction percentage of Ir by Alamine336 was reduced and no iridium was extracted by TBP. The extraction behavior of Ir and Sn was investigated by scrubbing experiments on the loaded Ir with a SnCl$_{2}$ solution.

  • A two-beam polarization (TBP) interfermeter with a reflection configuration for measuring the linear electroptic coefficient is described and investigated experimentally and theoretically. It is shown that a TBP interferometer can be used for measuring the Pockels coefficient of thin film with a strong Fabry-Perot effect. The TBP interferometer technique is used to measure the effective differential linear electro-optic coefficient $re=r_{33}-(n_0/n_0)^3r_{13}$of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin film. The results are in agreement with known data.

  • In this study, we had the stress analyses of TBP used in Tall Building and determined the working pressure of TBP. We knew the four fact. First, the place acted maximum stress is axial direction of branched part. Second, working pressure is more than 2.0 MPa. Third, stress in branched part is less than yielding strength at hydrostatic test pressure. Fourth, the ratio(stress/yielding stress at hydrostatic test pressure) is $0.4{\sim}0.6$(KS D 3562 Sch 40), $0.3{\sim}0.4$(KS D 3576 20S).
