  • Five experimental diets were formulated to evaluate the effects of dietary enzymatically hydrolyzed tuna by-product on growth, non-specific immune responses, and hematology of juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). A basal diet with 50% of fishmeal was used as control (CON) and four other diets replaced 12.5% ($TBB_{12.5}$), 25% ($TBB_{25}$), 37.5% ($TBB_{37.5}$), and 50% ($TBB_{50}$) of fish meal in the CON diet. Juvenile rainbow trout ($4.87{\pm}0.05g$) were randomly distributed into 15 tanks (50 L) and fed 3-4% of wet body weight two times a day. At the end of 7 weeks of feeding trial, weight gain, specific growth rate, feed efficiency, and protein efficiency ratio of fish fed CON diet were significantly higher than those of fish fed $TB_{50}$ diet (P < 0.05). But there were no significant differences among fish fed CON, $TBB_{12.5}$, $TBB_{25}$, and $TBB_{37.5}$ diets (P > 0.05). There were no significant differences in GPT levels among fish fed CON, $TBB_{12.5}$, $TBB_{25}$, and $TBB_{37.5}$ diets. Also, there were no significant differences in lysozyme, superoxide dismutase, glucose, and total protein levels in all experimental diet (P > 0.05). The broken-line analysis indicated that the minimum dietary level of enzymatically hydrolyzed tuna by-product to replace fishmeal could be 29.7% in rainbow trout. These results indicated that the optimum level of dietary enzymatically hydrolyzed tuna by-product could replace greater than 29.7% but less than 37.5% of fishmeal in juvenile rainbow trout diet.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between GMS image data and hourly observed rainfalls data. Heavy rainfall cases over South Korea on 10th September 1990 and on 29th July 1993 were selected for studying of the relationship between the image data and reinfalls. First, image data were converted to TBB(Temperature of Black Body) and albedo and then these values were extracted for the pixels closest to the surface observation station to correlate with the rainfall data. Horizontal distribution of TBB and albedo tells roughly rainfall regions. The correlation between rainfall and TBB is found to be very low in quantitative analysis. The weak relationship between the brighter albedo and the higher rainfall probability is observed. This study suggests that the TBB values are useful in classifying rain areas and for heavy rainfalls the albedo values are more useful than the TBB. Low linear correlation between the fields may be attributed to the neglect of cloud types in this study.

  • It is important to eliminate thermal bridge for achieving passive and environmental-friendly buildings. Structural members may frequently act as thermal bridges that become a conduit of energy. it is emphasized that thermal bridge breaker (TBB) system is necessary for blocking thermal bridge of the structural members. This TBB system has to maintain a performance to tensile and compressive stress which arises in member section in order to being realized structurally. Thus, it is composed with anchorage devices which obtain continuity with structural members inside building and rebar of cantilever balcony, and compression joint which resist compression stress occurring to TBB. Applying method of TBB's compression joint is designed to have high strength with comparatively small element section which can cover external load. This study carried out finite elements method based on compression experiment. Throughout the FEM analysis, this study provides information on finding optimal shape for compression joint of TBB which can suitably apply to current building balcony of Korea.

  • A forecast technique using GMS-4(Geostationary Meteorological Satellite) infrared images and its $T_{BB}$ (Brightness Temperature) data to determine the tropical cyclone center and to analyze the tropical cyclone intensity has been developed. First, the determination of typhoon center using $T_{BB}$ distribution pattern is practiced by understanding a special feature of central cloud pattern and cloud band which is analyzed with the method of pseudo coloring. Then, to forecast the intensity of tropical cyclone, a relationship between the central pressure (or maximum wind speed) of tropical cyclone and $T_{BB}$ measured by GMS near the tropical cyclone center was investigated. The results showed a correlation with a high lag relationship between central pressures and $T_{BB}$. The mean Tee in the ring of 200~300km apart from the tropical cyclone center showed the best correlation to central pressure of the tropical cyclone after 24hour. From this relationship, a regression equation to forecast the central pressure (or maximum wind speed) was derived.

  • In order to provide an information as input data of possible storm surges in advance, the typhoon center and maximum wind position analysis scheme must be developed for the initialization of pressure and wind field. This study proposes a semi-automatical and objective analysis method and a procedure on a real time basis using the satellite TBB data of the GMS IR1, NOAA satellite CH4 and CH5, and shows the result of an experimental analysis. It includes a simple method of determining the parameters of the typhoon using minimum top temperature of the convective cloud near the inner eyewall. The method analyzing the isotropic cross sectional variation of TBB gradient from center to environment was developed to determine the center of Rmax of typhoon. This position of intense eyewall from typhoon center can be considered as the position of maximum wind. The results of estimation of typhoon center show very good agreement to the results of synoptic analysis. It is found that the Rmax is approximately 50-200km. From the comparison of the GMS and NOAA IR TBB data, it is found that the Rmax from NOAA data tends to be longer than those from GMS data.

  • This study establishes a conceptual model to analyze heavy rainfall events in Korea using multi-functional transport satellite-1R satellite images. Three heavy rainfall episodes in two major synoptic types, such as synoptic low (SL) type and synoptic flow convergence (SC) type, are analyzed through a conceptual model procedure which proceeds on two steps: 1) conveyer belt model analysis to detect convective area, and 2) cloud top temperature analysis from black body temperature (TBB) data to distinguish convective cloud from stratiform cloud, and eventually estimate heavy rainfall area and intensity. Major synoptic patterns causing heavy rainfall are Changma, synoptic low approach, upper level low in the SL type, and upper level low, indirect effect of typhoon, convergence of tropical air in the SC type. The relationship between rainfall and TBBs in overall well resolved areas of heavy rainfall. The SC type tended to underestimate the intensity of heavy rainfall, but the analysis with the use of water vapor channel has improved the performance. The conceptual model improved a concrete utilization of images and data of satellite, as summarizing characteristics of major synoptic type causing heavy rainfall and composing an algorism to assess the area and intensity of heavy rainfall. The further assessment with various cases is required for the operational use.

  • Blanket is of vital importance for engineering application of the fusion reactor. Nuclear heat deposition in materials is the main heat source in blanket structure. In this paper, the three-dimensional method for thermal-hydraulics/neutronics coupling analysis is developed and applied for the full-scale module of the helium-cooled ceramic breeder tritium breeding blanket (HCCB TBB) designed for China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR). The explicit coupling scheme is used to support data transfer for coupling analysis based on cell-to-cell mapping method. The coupling algorithm is realized by the user-defined function compiled in Fluent. The three-dimensional model is established, and then the coupling analysis is performed using the paralleled Coupling Analysis of Thermal-hydraulics and Neutronics Interface Code (CATNIC). The results reveal the relatively small influence of the coupling analysis compared to the traditional method using the radial fitting function of internal heat source. However, the coupling analysis method is quite important considering the nonuniform distribution of the neutron wall loading (NWL) along the poloidal direction. Finally, the structure optimization of the blanket is carried out using the coupling method to satisfy the thermal requirement of all materials. The nonlinear effect between thermal-hydraulics and neutronics is found during the blanket structure optimization, and the tritium production performance is slightly reduced after optimization. Such an adverse effect should be thoroughly evaluated in the future work.

  • Transcription factor AP-$2{\alpha}$ involves in the process of mammalian embryonic development and tumorigenesis. Many studies have shown that AP-$2{\alpha}$ functions in association with other interacting proteins. In a two-hybrid screening, the regulatory subunit ${\beta}$ of protein casein kinase 2 ($CK2{\beta}$) was identified as an interacting protein of AP-$2{\alpha}$; we confirmed this interaction using in-vitro GST pull-down and in-vivo co-immunoprecipitation assays; in an endogenous co-immunoprecipitation experiment, we further found the catalytic subunit ${\alpha}$ of protein casein kinase 2 ($CK2{\alpha}$) also exists in the complex. Phosphorylation analysis revealed that AP-$2{\alpha}$ was phosphorylated by CK2 kinase majorly at the site of Ser429, and such phosphorylation could be blocked by CK2 specific inhibitor 4,5,6,7-tetrabromobenzotriazole (TBB) in a dose-dependent manner. Luciferase assays demonstrated that both $CK2{\alpha}$ and $CK2{\beta}$ enhanced the transcription activity of AP-$2{\alpha}$; moreover, $CK2{\beta}$ increased the stability of AP-$2{\alpha}$. Our data suggest a novel cellular function of CK-2 as a transcriptional co-activator of AP-$2{\alpha}$.

  • The electrochemical reduction of N-tert-butylbenzothiazole-2-sulfenamide (TBBS; vulcanization accelerator) was investigated by direct current, differential pulse polarography, cyclic voltammetry and controlled potential coulometry. The electrode reduction of TBBS proceeded E-C-E-C reaction mechanism by four electrons transfer at irreversible one wave (-2.31 volts vs. Ag/0.1M AgN$O_3$ in AN). As the results of controlled potential electrolysis, mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT), benzothiazole disulfide (MBT dimer) and extricated sulfur were products which followed by cleavage of the sulfenamide (-S-N=) bond. Upon the basis of products analysis and polarogram interpretation with pH variable, electrochemical reaction mechanism was suggested.
