축대칭 튜브 하이드로포밍 공정의 유한요소 시뮬레이션 (Finite Element Simulation of Axisymmetric Tube Hydroforming Processes)

  • An implicit finite element formulation for axisymmetric tube hydroforming is investigated. In order to describe normal anisotropy of the tube, Hill's non-quadratic yield function is employed. The frictional contact between die and tube and frictionless contact between tube and fluid are considered using the mesh-normal vector computed from finite element mesh of the tube. In order to verify the validity of the developed finite element formulation, the axisymmetric tube bulge test is simulated and simulation results are compared with experimental measurements. In the axisymmetric tube hydroforming process, an optimal hydraulic curve is pursued by performing the simulation with various internal pressures and axial forces.

자동차용 브레이크 튜브 관단부의 성형해석 (On the Deformation Analysis of the Brake Tube-End for Automobiles)

  • Brake tube is considered one of the most important parts in automobile. The shape of brake tube end has a great influence on the function of brake, and the quality and productivity of brake tube have relation to die design. The forming process of brake tube end is performed by hydraulic press forming machine. In this paper, the forming processes of tube end for automobile is analyzed and designed to make the optimal form of brake tube end. Also, finite element analysis has been carried out using $DEFORM^{TM}% 3D to predict the optimal shape of brake tube end and the results obtained showed the optimal length between punch and chuck is $1.0{\sim}1.2mm$. The shape of tube end is in good agreement with the finite element simulations and the experimental results.

Comparisons between the KKU-Model and Conventional Rectal Tubes as Markers for Checking Rectal Doses during Intracavitary Brachytherapy of Cervical Cancer

  • Background: To compare the KKU-model rectal tube (KKU-tube) and the conventional rectal tube (CRT) for checking rectal doses during high-dose-rate intracavitary brachytherapy (HDR-ICBT) of cervical cancer. Materials and Methods: Between February 2010 and January 2011, thirty -two patients with cervical cancer were enrolled and treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT). The KKU-tube and CRT were applied intrarectally in the same patients at alternate sessions as references for calculation of rectal doses during ICBT. The gold standard references of rectum anatomical markers which are most proximal to radiation sources were anterior rectal walls (ARW) adjacent to the uterine cervix demonstrated by barium sulfate suspension enema. The calculated rectal doses derived from actual anterior rectal walls, CRT and the anterior surfaces of the KKU-tubes were compared by using the paired t-test. The pain caused by insertion of each type of rectal tube was assessed by the visual analogue scale (VAS). Results: The mean dose of CRT was lower than the mean dose of ARW ($Dmean_0-Dmean_1$) by $80.55{\pm}47.33cGy$ (p-value <0.05). The mean dose of the KKU-tube was lower than the mean dose of ARW ($Dmean_0-Dmean_2$) by $30.82{\pm}24.20cGy$ (p-value <0.05). The mean dose difference [($Dmean_0-Dmean_1$)-($Dmean_0-Dmean_2$)] was $49.72{\pm}51.60cGy$, which was statistically significant between 42.32 cGy -57.13 cGy with the t-value of 13.24 (p-value <0.05). The maximum rectal dose by using CRT was higher than the KKU-tube as much as 75.26 cGy and statistically significant with the t-score of 7.55 (p-value <0.05). The mean doses at the anterior rectal wall while using the CRTs and the KKU-tubes were not significantly different (p-value=0.09). The mean pain score during insertion of the CRT was significantly higher than the KKU-tube by a t-score of 6.15 (p-value <0.05) Conclusions: The KKU-model rectal tube was found to be an easily producible, applicable and reliable instrument as a reference for evaluating the rectal dose during ICBT of cervical cancer without negative effects on the patients.

중심축력을 받는 콘크리트 충전강관 기둥의 역학적 거동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical Properties of Concrete Filled Steel Tube Column under Centric Axial Load)

  • 본 연구는 콘크리트 충전강관을 고층 건물의 구조부재로 이용하기 위한 연구의 일환으로서 강관의 폭두께비, 세장비와 충전콘크리트의 강도를 주요 변수로 하여 강관이 콘크리트를 단순 구속하는 경우의 재하조건으로서 일련의 실험을 콘크리트 충전강관 기둥의 역학적인 거동 특성을 고찰하였다. 얻어진 결론을 요약하면 다음과 같다. (1)구속 콘크리트의 파괴양상은 단주의 경우 시험체 단부에서의 압괴에 의한 $45^{\circ}$정도의 사인장 파괴가 이루어졌으며 장주의 경우 횡방향 휨 파괴 양상을 나타내었다. (2)원형강관으로서 콘크리트를 구속함으로서 변형능력의 향상과 동시에 콘크리트의 연성 효과를 증대시킬 수 있었다. (3)강관의 세장비, 폭두께비, 콘크리트의 강도를 고려하여 콘크리트의 구속계수를 이용하여 강관에 의해 구속된 내부 콘크리트와 충전 강관 기둥의 최대내력 산정식을 제안하였다.

진공관형 태양열 집열기의 열성능 해석 (An Analysis of the Thermal Performance of the Glass Evacuated Tube Solar Collector)

  • The thermal performance of the glass evacuated tube solar collector is numerically investigated. The glass evacuated tube solar collector consists of a two-layed glass tube, a copper tube, and the working fluid. The length and the diameter of the glass tube are 1,200mm and 38mm, respectively. The diameter, thickness, and length of the copper tube and the flow rate of air are considered as the important design and operating parameters of the collector. The effect of these parameters on the thermal performance of the collector are investigated. The results show that as the diameter, the thickness, and the length of the copper tube increase and the flow rate of the air decreases, the thermal performance and the outlet mean temperature increase.

Photodiode를 사용한 측정기의 임상응용을 위한 실험 (Experiment for Clinical Application with Photodiode)

  • Studies were conducted to determine the clinical application of photodiode. We compared photodiode with ion-chamber as to change of tube potential, tube current, mAs and measured decreasing rate of penetration dose. When tube potential was changed from 60 kVp to 120 kVp, output of photodiode and ion-chamber were changed from 0.4 to 1.625, and 1.018 to 4.268, respectively. This was a good agreement to theory that $I=Kv^2it$(I is intensity, K is constant, v is tube potential, i is tube current, t is time). Characteristics for change of tube current and mAs were also a good agreement to theory. And comparison in decreasing rate of penetration dose was similar except above 6 cm in depth. Our results indicated that photodiode was a good instrument for relative measurement of radiation exposure, but we can not use the photodiode for absolute radiation dose.

  • In this study, a longitudinal pitch effect on in-line tube bank heat transfer has been analyzed numerically. To verify the accuracy of the solver model and boundary conditions, global Nusselt number(Nu) and pressure drop across the 2 row tube bank are compared with the existing experimental correlations under 500 ~ 2,000 Reynolds number(Re) range. By changing transverse pitch($S_T$) or longitudinal pitch($S_L$) separately in tube bank, we're trying to identify the each effect on heat transfer. We found that the effect of transverse pitch can be accounted for Reynolds number evaluated with maximum velocity($V_{max}$) at the smallest flow area similar to most existing correlations. Variation of the longitudinal pitch($S_L$) has a greater impact on the heat transfer compared to the transverse pitch($S_T$). Overall Nusselt number increases with larger longitudinal pitch($S_L$), however individual Nusselt number of the tube row has significant difference after the first row.

액압성형 시험을 통한 알루미늄 튜브 재료의 성형한계도 (Forming Limit Diagram of an Aluminum Tube Through Hydroforming Tests)

  • A tube hydroformability testing system was designed and fabricated enabling to apply the forming condition along arbitrarily pre-programmed internal pressure-axial feed path. The free-bulging and T-forming tests were carried out on the extruded aluminum (A6063) tube specimens with 40.6 mm outer diameter and 2.25 mm thickness. Nine different combinations of internal pressure and axial feed, yielding different strain paths from one another, were taken into consideration in order to induce bursting at various deformation modes. Major and minor strains were automatically measured from deformed grids around the fracture using a stereo-vision-based surface strain measurement system, named ASIAS. The forming limit diagram of the A6063 tube material was successfully obtained. Most of the data points acquired from free bulging and T-forming tests appeared in the range of negative minor strain on the FLD and are mostly located near the strain paths calculated from explicit finite element simulations. The forming limit obtained from tests after pre-tension was considerably lower than that from tests without pre-tension, which showed the strain path-dependency of the forming limit as well known in the sheet forming fold.
