Comprehensive Residual Stress Distributions in a Range of Plate and Pipe Components

  • A comprehensive review of through thickness transverse residual stress distributions in a range of as-welded and mechanically bent components made up of a range of steels has been carried out, and simplified generic transverse residual stress profiles for a plate and pipe components have been proposed. The geometries consisted of welded pipe butt joints, T-plate joints, tubular T-joints, tubular Y-joints and a pipe on plate joints as well as cold bent tubes and pipes. The collected data covered a range of engineering steels including ferritic, austenitic, C-Mn and Cr-Mo steels. Measured residual stress data, normalised with respect to the parent material yield stress, has shown a good linear correlation versus the normalised depth of the region containing the residual stress resulting from the welding or cold-bending process. The proposed simplified generic residual stress profiles based on the mean statistical linear fit of all the data provides a reasonably conservative prediction of the stress intensity factors. Whereas the profiles for the assessment procedures are fixed and case specific, the simple bilinear profiles for the residual stresses obtained by shifting the mean and bending stress from the mean regression line have been proposed and validated.

원통형 배관 지지대의 응력계수 개발 (Development of Stress Indices for Trunnion Pipe Support)

  • 배관을 구속시키기 위한 원통형 배관 지지대(Trunnion Pipe Support)가 부착된 배관의 응력해석을 위하여 유한요소해석을 사용하였다. 해석결과로 부터 얻어진 응력은 두께에 대한 평균(막응력) 및 선형 응력(굽힘응력)으로 분류되었으며, 분류된 응력값은 압력에 에 의한 일차응력계수(B/sub 1/)와 이차응력계수(C/sub 1/), 모멘트에 의한 일차응력계수(B/sub 28/, B/sub 2T/)와 이차응력계수(C/sub 28/, C/sub 2T/)를 추정하기 위하여 ASME Code에 정의된것과 일치하게 해석되었다. 무차원의 함수로써 응력계수에 대한 경험식을 개발하기 위하여 여러 모델의 해석을 수행하였다.

J-T에 의한 3차원 반타원 계면균열선단 응력장의 기술 (J-T Characterization of Stress Fields Along 3D Semi-Elliptical Interfacial Crack Front)

  • Many research works have validated the J-T approach to elastic-plastic crack-tip stress fields in a variety of plane strain specimens. To generalize the validity of J-T method, further investigations are however needed for more practical 3D structures than the idealized plane strain specimens. In this work, we perform 3D finite element (FE) modeling of welded plate and straight pipe, and accompanying elastic, elastic-plastic FE analyses. Manual 3D modeling is almost prohibitive, since the models contain semi-elliptical interfacial cracks which require singular elements. To overcome this kind of barrier, we develop a program generating the meshes for semi-elliptical interfacial cracks. We then compare the detailed 3D FE stress fields to those predicted with J-T two parameters. Thereby we extend the validity of J-T application to 3D structures and infer some useful informations for the design or assessment of pipe welds.

  • 다양한 평면변형률 시편들의 균열선단 탄·소성 응력상태들에 대한 경우, 여러 연구들을 동해, J-T접근방법의 유효 타당성이 충분히 검증되어졌다. 그러나 J-T 두 변수에 의한 균열선단 응력장 예측의 타당성을 보편화시키기 위해서는, 평면변형률 시편들과 같이 이상화된 구조가 아닌 실제적인 3차원 구조형상에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 이를 배경으로 본 연구에서는 평판과 직관에 대해 완전 3차원 유한요소해석을 수행하여 얻어진 응력장과 계산된 J-T두 변수로 예측되는 응력장을 비교함으로써, J-T 접근방법의 유효성 내지 한계성을 규명하였다.

IoT를 이용한 상수도관의 효율적인 수압 측정 시스템 (An Efficient Water Pressure Measurement System of the Water Pipes using IoT)

  • 본 논문은 맨홀 아래 지하에 매설된 상수도관의 수압을 효율적으로 측정하기 위하여 무선통신 모듈을 내장한 수압센서(IoT)를 모든 상수도관 밸브에 설치하여 수압을 측정하도록 하였다. 측정한 데이터는 무선 통신으로 스마트폰에 전송하고 스마트폰은 수신한 데이터를 다시 서버로 전송하여 저장하고 관리할 수 있도록 하는 새로운 수압측정 시스템을 제안하였다. 담당자들은 서버에 저장된 수압 데이터를 원격에서 조회하여 상수도관의 누수 여부나 관리지역 내의 수압의 적정성 여부 등을 확인하여 이상 여부를 체크할 수 있도록 함으로써 상수도관의 수압을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있다.

다층용접배관의 용접부 잔류음력분포에 대한 기하학적형상과 용접후처리의 영향 (The Effects of Geometrical Shape and Post Weld Treatment on Welding Residual Stress Distribution of Weldment in Multi-pass Welded Pipe)

  • In this study, the residual stress fields of multi-pass welded were analyzed by FEA under various geometrical conditions. In order to estimate the effects of pipe geometries on residual stress distribution, welding processes of each model were performed under the same heat cycles. And then, the influence of cutting off the weld bead on the residual stress redistribution was also estimated. From the results, in the range of t/D=0.05, axial residual stresses on the outer surface of the welded pipe were linearly decreased with pipe diameter increase. On the other hand, hoop residual stresses were not influenced by them. And both axial and hoop residual stresses on the outer surface of the welded pipe were increased with pipe diameter increase. But, when t/D was smaller than 0.05, they were converged in the nearly same value. The maximum residual stresses were generated at around HAZ. It in therefore necessary to consider them in welding design, strength evaluation, and analysis of fracture characteristics.

2중 원형동관의 2축압축 변형특성에 관한 연구 (Biaxial Compressive Deformation Characteristics of Double Round Copper Pipes)

  • The deformation characteristics of a double round copper pipe and a single round copper pipe under biaxial compression were studied using a horizontal compression die. The change in punch load and in deformation behavior was measured during the experiments using various compressive deformation rates in the range of 10mm/min. ~ 450mm/min. The maximum punch load for both the double round copper pipe and the single round copper pipe decreased with increasing compressive deformation rate. The maximum punch load for the single round copper pipe was twice that of the double round copper pipe. After a 4.0mm stroke, the deformed shape of the single round copper pipe remained rectangular. However the outer tube of double round copper pipe remained rectangular while the inner tube was clover shaped. The stress and strain distributions in the double round copper pipe and the single round copper pipe show clear differences. The results of numerical simulations using Deform-2D are in good agreement with experimental results.
