This paper presents a framework design of a digital twin system for a vertical smart farm. In this paper, a framework of digital twin systems establishes three factors: 1) Client 2) IoT gateway, and 3) Server. Especially, IoT gateway was developed using the Eclipse Ditto, which has been commonly used as the standard open hardware platform for digital twin. In particular, each factor is communicating with the client, IoT gateway, and server by defining the message sequence such as initialization and data transmission. In this paper, we describe the digital twin technology trend and major platform. The proposed design has been tested in a testbed of the lab-scale vertical smart-farm. The sensor data is received from 1 Jan to 31 Dec 2020. In this paper, a prototype digital twin system that collects environment and control data through a raspberry pi in a plant factory and visualizes it in a virtual environment was developed.

Intelligent IoT environments that accommodate a very large number of clients require technologies that provide secure information service regardless of the number of clients. Wireless data broadcast is an information service technique that ensures scalability to deliver data to all clients simultaneously regardless of the number of clients. In wireless data broadcasting, clients access the wireless channel linearly to explore the data, so the access time of clients is greatly affected by the broadcast cycle. Data compression-based data broadcasting can reduce the broadcast cycle and thus reduce client access time. Therefore, a simulation framework that can evaluate the performance of data broadcasting by applying different data compression algorithms is essential and important. In this paper, we propose a simulation framework to evaluate the performance of data broadcasting that can adopt data compression. We design the framework that enables to apply different data compression algorithms according to the data characteristics. In addition to evaluating the performance according to the data, the proposed framework can also evaluate the performance according to the data scheduling technique and the kind of queries the client wants to process. We implement the proposed framework and evaluate the performance of data broadcasting using the framework applying data compression algorithms to demonstrate the performances of data compression broadcasting.
With improvement in innovative manufacturing technologies, it became possible to fabricate any complex shaped structural design for practical applications. This allows for the fabrication of curvilinearly stiffened pressure vessels and pipes. Compared to straight stiffeners, curvilinear stiffeners have shown to have better structural performance and weight savings under certain loading conditions. In this paper, an optimization framework for designing curvilinearly stiffened composite pressure vessels and pipes is presented. NURBS are utilized to define curvilinear stiffeners over the surface of the pipe. An integrated tool using Python, Rhinoceros 3D, MSC.PATRAN and MSC.NASTRAN is implemented for performing the optimization. Rhinoceros 3D is used for creating the geometry, which later is exported to MSC.PATRAN for finite element model generation. Finally, MSC.NASTRAN is used for structural analysis. A Bi-Level Programming (BLP) optimization technique, consisting of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Gradient-Based Optimization (GBO), is used to find optimal locations of stiffeners, geometric dimensions for stiffener cross-sections and layer thickness for the composite skin. A cylindrical pipe stiffened by orthogonal and curvilinear stiffeners under torsional and bending load cases is studied. It is seen that curvilinear stiffeners can lead to a potential 10.8% weight saving in the structure as compared to the case of using straight stiffeners.
A Multiphysics coupling framework, MPCORE, has been developed to analyze safety parameters using the best estimate codes. The framework contains neutron kinetics (NK), thermal hydraulics (TH), and fuel performance (FP) codes to analyze fuel burnup, radial power distribution, and coolant temperature (Tbc). Shuffling and rotation capabilities have been verified on the Watts Bar reactor for three cycles. This study focuses on two coupling approaches for TH and FP modules. The one-way coupling approach involves coupling the FP code with the NK code, providing no data to the TH modules but getting Tbc as boundary condition from TH module. The two-way coupling approach exchanges information from FP to TH modules, so that the simplified heat conduction solver of the TH module is not used. The power profile in both approaches does not differ significantly, but there is an impact on coolant and cladding parameters. The one-way coupling approach tends to over-predict the cladding hydrogen concentration (CHC). This research highlights the difference between one-way and two-way coupling on critical boron concentration, Tbc, CHC, oxide surface temperature, and pellet centerline temperature. Overall, MPCORE framework with two-way coupling provides a more accurate and reliable analysis of safety parameters for nuclear reactors.

A modular multidisciplinary analysis and optimization framework has been built with the goal of performing conceptual design of an advanced efficient supersonic air vehicle. This paper addresses the specific challenge of designing this type of aircraft for a long range, supersonic cruise mission with a payload release. The framework includes all the disciplines expected for multidisciplinary supersonic aircraft design, although it also includes disciplines specifically required by an advanced aircraft that is tailless and has embedded engines. Several disciplines have been developed at multifidelity levels. The framework can be readily adapted to the conceptual design of other supersonic aircraft. Favorable results obtained from running the analysis framework for a B-58 supersonic bomber test case are presented as a validation of the methods employed.

Recently there are so many media contents created and used by variety routes. Therefore, it is essential to make a new platform which is used for distributing media contents include IPTV. With open IPTV service, developing the new platform became even more important. Because open IPTV makes it possible for consumers to choose contents regardless of contents of the providers. The new platform has to accept current variety service structure. MPEG-21 multimedia framework was developed to satisfy these needs. It presented the distribution framework of the contents but didn't restrict the particular solutions for protecting the rights. In this paper, we present authoring and consuming system for package contents based on MPEG-21 Multimedia Framework for distributing media resources and managing the license of multimedia contents

Due to the dramatic advancement of IoT (Internet of Things), it is expected that tens of billions of IoT devices will be connected by the year 2024. Furthermore, as IoT technologies evolves, the security management in IoT platforms has become a critical issue. For example, there are interworking problems between heterogeneous IoT platforms caused by differences from communication protocols, security policies, etc. in each platform. In addition, unsecured interworking can cause major security issues including the information leakage. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, a security interworking architecture is proposed and implemented in both FIWARE and oneM2M, which are representative IoT platforms. First, the security architecture of FIWARE is analyzed and implemented, and then the security framework based on OAuth 2.0 is developed on Mobius platform. Finally, in order to validate the proposed security interworking architecture, a LED (Light-Emitting Diode) example, where the LED is controlled by only authorized users, is developed. The proposed architecture can be extended to the diverse IoT platforms and devices.

Recently, many laundry home appliances have been released with Internet of Things (IoT) functions, but there are few quality evaluation tests for IoT functions. In particular, since IoT test items are not prepared for laundry home appliances applied with IoT functions, it is difficult to find the cause even if defects occur, and test institutions are limited in selecting test items related to IoT and conducting proper performance tests. In this paper, we design a test item framework that separates IoT test items into commonality and variability to identify product defects and causes for laundry home appliances with IoT features among products in the field of home appliances. Through the proposed research, manufacturers and test institutions can test the proper performance of laundry products with IoT functions, which can improve the completeness of the products and ensure reliability.
