A study on the micro pattern replication properties of large area in injection molding (대면적 미세패턴 사출성형에서의 전사 특성 실험)

  • We injection molded a thin plate with micro prism patterns on its surface and investigated the fidelity of replication of the micro pattern depending on the process parameter such as mold temperature, injection rate or packing pressure. The size of the $90^{\circ}$ prism pattern is $50{\mu}m$ and the size of the plate is $400mm{\times}400mm$. The thickness is 1mm. The fidelity of the replication turned out quite different according to the process parameters and location of the patterns of the plate. We measured the cavity pressure and temperature in real-time during the molding to analyze the effect of the local melt pressure and temperature on the micro pattern replication.

  • For the estimation of the load effects of the slab-an-girder type structures, the applicability of FEM analysis for RC T-type girder bridges using orthotropic plate elements has been studied in the present study. The present study indicates that the analysis by orthotropic plate elements for RC T-type girder bridges gives reasonable results for sectional force, including moments and shear. The results from the present method gives the values in between full composite and non-composite cases, which are reasonable when compared with actual test results.

A Study on the Analysis of Forming Process for Swash-Plate by Using Prepreg (탄소/에폭시 프리프레그를 이용한 스와시 플레이트의 성형공정 해석에 관한 연구)

  • Carbon-epoxy prepreg has been introduced in the forming of the upper and lower swash plates that control the pitch of rotor blade of unmanned helicopter because of its lightweight. Taguchi experimental method has been used by introducing the variables such as arrangement angle, laminated number and forming temperature, in order to obtain the proper forming method by using prepreg satisfying the required strength of the swash plate. In the evaluation of structural safety for the swash plates, three kinds of models are considered by using FE-analysis. In comparison of the hot forged products with Al6061-T6 and the formed products with prepreg, it was found that ultimate tensile strength of the products with prepreg is three times higher than that of the Al6061-T6, and the weight reduction of 68.5g can be achieved by using prepreg swash plates.

  • The metallic bipolar plates of the molten carbonate fuel cell(MCFC) are composed of shielded slot plates and a center-plate. The shielded slot plates support the center-plate and the membrane electrode assembly. Compressive forces are applied to the shielded slot plate in order to increase the contact area between shielded slot plates and the membrane electrode assembly (MEA). In the design of the shielded slot plate, it is necessary to predict the mechanical behavior of the shielded slot plate. The shielded slot plates are manufactured by a three-stage forming process consisting of slitting, preforming and the final forming process. The mechanical behavior of the shielded slot plate is largely affected by the forming process. In this study, the simulation of the three-stage forming process was used to predict the mechanical behavior of the shielded slot plate. The present simulation approach showed good agreements with the experimental results.

  • This paper presents the design, fabrication and performance of a reinforced concrete beam strengthened by GFRP box plate and its possibility for structural rehabilitations. The load capacity, ductility and failure mode of reinforced concrete structures strengthened by FRP box plate were investigated and compared with traditional FRP plate strengthening method. This is intended to assess the feasibility of using FRP box plate for repair and strengthening of damaged RC beams. A series of four-point bending tests were conducted on RC beams with or without strengthening FRP systems the influence of concrete cover thickness on the performance of overall stiffness of the structure. The parameters obtained by the experimental studies were the stiffness, strength, crack width and pattern, failure mode, respectively. The test yielded complete load-deflection curves from which the increase in load capacity and the failure mode was evaluated.

  • A circular plate kept zero initial temperature is heated for a certain interval of time over a concentric circular region of the upper face. Deflection is obtained by using Laplace transform technique. Taking the plate material to be aluminium, central deflection is obtained for several values of time and the results shown graphically.
