  • Inkjet printing is being considered as an alternative to the conventional lithography in the electronic industry. Surface energy control of substrate is a critical issue in controlling the dimension of microstructures by the inkjet printing. This study introduces the surface energy control of ITO substrate for in/q'et printing of PEDOT/PSS.

전통 탈의 이미지를 활용한 패션문화상품 디자인 개발 (Use of Traditional Mask Images in Design Development for Fashion-Cultural Products)

  • This paper developed motifs through the use of images of masks with which the Korean innate consciousness of aesthetics is expressed. The motifs were applied to fashion items. This paper investigated the concept, origin and types of traditional masks through the existing literature. Using the computer graphic programs of Illustrator and Photoshop CS2, three basic motifs were set from the images of the nobleman, Bune of Hahoi Tal and Byeongsan Tal. Each motif was extended into two motifs by changing shape and color. For the basic motif design, this study sought to express contemporary images, suitably for each fashion item, while maintaining the basic shape of the masks and their traditional images. In addition, this study set the concept of the design so that could be accepted by various age groups. For the design of handkerchiefs, a rotating array, involving enlargement, reduction, repetition, and the gradation of motifs, as well as a diagonal symmetric array, and all-over patterns were developed. The T-shirt design created here was divided into a half-sleeve box type, a round neckline sleeveless type, a V-neckline close-fitting sleeveless type, and a V-neckline close-fitting cap sleeve type. For the design of necklaces, OLED or LED, which are considered as a future display type, was used. Additionally, the production of an entertainment styled new atmosphere is proposed.

T-OLED의 반사전극으로 사용하기 위한 Ag 박막 표면의 UV에 의한 산화 및 KPFM을 이용한 표면 전위 측정

  • Silver (Ag)는 높은 반사율을 가지고 있어 Top-Emission Organic Light Emitting Diode (T-OLED)의 반사전극으로 사용하기 적합하지만 일함수가 낮은 단점 (4.3 eV)을 가지고 있다. 이런 낮은 일함수를 증가시키기 위하여 Ag 박막 표면을 산화시켜 일함수를 증가시키기 위한 연구가 진행중에 있으며, 이 연구에서는 UV로 $O_3$을 발생시켜 Ag 박막 표면을 산화시키기 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 특히, Ag 박막 표면의 일함수 변화를 측정하기 위하여 SPM (Scanning Probe Microscopy)의 KPFM (Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy) mode를 적용하여 nano 영역에서의 일함수 변화를 surface potential로 측정하여 UV 표면 산화에 의한 표면 일함수 형상을 확인하였다. Ag 박막은 rf magnetron sputter를 사용하여, Si 기판위에 300nm 두께로 증착시켰다. 이후 $O_3$ 발생되는 UV 램프로 Ag 박막 표면 30초 간격으로 최대 5분간 산화시켰으며, 이후 KPFM mode를 사용하여 산화 시간에 따른 Ag 박막 표면의 potential 변화를 측정하였다. 0~3분간 산화된 Ag 박막 표면의 potential은 약 6 mV로 일정하였으나 3분 이후 최대 110 mV까지 급격하게 변화하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. Ag 박막 표면의 RMS roughness는 UV 산화처리 전0.7 nm였으나, potential이 급격하게 증가하는 시점인 3분 이후 2.83 nm로 약 400% 이상 증가하였다. 이를 통해 $O_3$ 발생 UV 램프로 산화된 Ag 박막의 표면 물성은 처리 시간에 따라 급격히 변하는 것을 확인하였다.

고효율 OLED 제작을 위한 플라즈마 조건 변화에 따른 ITO 특성 분석 (Characteristic Analysis of ITO by Variation of Plasma Condition to Fabricate OLED of High Efficiency)

  • 본 논문에서는 고효율의 유기발광소자 제작을 위해 플라즈마 조건 변화에 따른 ITO 특성을 분석하였다. $N_2$$O_2$ 가스로 RF 플라즈마 출력은 100 W, 200 W, 400 W로 가스압력은 12 mTorr, 120 mTorr로 변화실험을 하였다. $N_2$ 가스를 이용하여 플라즈마 처리한 ITO의 일함수는 $4.88{\sim}5.07$ eV의 값을 나타내었고 $O_2$ 가스를 이용하여 플라즈마 처리한 ITO는 $4.85{\sim}4.97$ eV의 일함수를 나타내었다. $N_2$ 가스에서 가스의 압력이 120 mTorr이면서 플라스마 출력이 200 W의 조건에서 RF 플라즈마 처리한 ITO의 특성이 우수하였다. ITO 표면의 rms roughness는 AFM 이미지에서 계산하여 나타낸 수치로써 $N_2$$O_2$ 가스가 주입된 플라즈마로 처리된 ITO는 플라즈마 출력이 200 W일 때 각각 $25.2\;{\AA}$$30.5\;{\AA}$로 나타났으며 플라즈마 처리되지 않은 ITO는 $44.5\;{\AA}$이었다. ITO 박막의 투과율 측정에서는 $N_2$$O_2$ 가스의 압력을 변화시켜도 ITO의 투과율은 거의 변동이 없었다.

Electrical Properties of a-IGZO Thin Films for Transparent TFTs

  • Recently, amorphous transparent oxide semiconductors (TOS) have been widely studied for many optoelectronic devices such as AM-OLED (active-matrix organic light emitting diodes). The TOS TFTs using a-IGZO channel layers exhibit a high electron mobility, a smooth surface, a uniform deposition at a large area, a high optical transparency, a low-temperature fabrication. In spite of many advantages of the sputtering process such as better step coverage, good uniformity over large area, small shadow effect and good adhesion, there are not enough researches about characteristics of a-IGZO thin films. In this study, therefore, we focused on the electrical properties of a-IGZO thin films as a channel layer of TFTs. TFTs with the a-IGZO channel layers and Y2O3 gate insulators were fabricated. Source and drain layers were deposited using ITO target. TFTs were deposited on unheated non-alkali glass substrates ($5cm{\times}5cm$) with a sintered ceramic IGZO disc (3 inch $\varnothing$, 5mm t), Y2O3 disc (3 inch $\varnothing$, 5mm t) and ITO disc (3 inch $\varnothing$, 5mm t) as a target by magnetron sputtering method. The O2 gas was used as the reactive gas. Deposition was carried out under various sputtering conditions to investigate the effect of sputtering process on the characteristics of a-IGZO thin films. Correlation between sputtering factors and electronic properties of the film will be discussed in detail.

Co-doping을 이용한 OLED의 발광 효율 향상 (Improving electroluminescent efficiency of organic light emitting diodes by co-doping)

  • Doping is a well-known method for improving electroluminescent (EL) efficiency of organic light emitting diodes. In our study, doping with 2 materials simultaneously, we could achieve improved EL efficiency. The emission layer was tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum, and the 2 dopants were N,N'-dimethyl-quinacridone (DMQA) and 10-(2-Benzothiazolyl)-2, 3, 6, 7-tetrahydro-1,1,7,7,-tetramethyl 1-1H, 5H, 11H-[1] benzopyrano [6,7,8-ij]quinolizin-11-one (C-545T). The EL intensity of co-doped device was nearly flat, it shows that co-doping technique could be a effective way to improve the EL efficiency. EL efficiency of Single-doped device based on DMQA and C-S45T were ~6.47Cd/A and ~7.45Cd/A, respectively. Co-doped device showed higher EL efficiency of ~8.30Cd/A.

Development of Highly Efficient and Stable Blue Organic Electroluminescent Devices

  • We have developed a highly efficient and stable blue organic electroluminescent device (OLED) based on the blue fluorescent p-bis(p-N,N-diphenyl-aminostyryl)benzene (DSA-Ph) dopant in a morphologically stable high-bandgap host material, 2-methyl-9,10-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene (MADN), which achieved an EL efficiency of 9.7 cd/A and 5.5 lm/W at 20 mA/$cm^2$ and 5.7 V with a Commission Internationale d'Eclairage coordinates of(x = 0.16, y = 0.32). This sky blue device which could also alleviate the problematic current induced quenching at high current achieved a half-decay lifetime ($t_{1\;2}$) of 46,000 h at an initial brightness of 100 cd/$m^2$.

Synthesis and Characterization of Polyimide Films for Flexible Display Substrates

  • A series novel films of polyimide (PI) and co-polyimide (Co-PI) containing fluorine with colorless, flexible properties was prepared by a two-step process from various commercial aromatic monomers such as 4,4'-(Hexafluoro iso propylidene) diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 2,2'-Bis(Trifluoromethyl) benzidine (TFDB), 2,2-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane (AH6FP) and Bis(4-(3-aminophenoxy)phenyl)sulfone (BAS). Furthermore, these obtained transparent and flexible Co-PI films exhibited excellent thermal stability with the decomposition temperature (at 5% weight loss) around of $500^{\circ}C$ and the glass transition temperature ($T_g$) in the range of $275-350^{\circ}C$.

High Performance Tandem OLEDs for Large Area Full Color AM Displays and Lighting Applications

  • Tandem OLED structures formed by connecting two or more low-voltage electroluminescent units (stacks) are effective for achieving high efficiency at low current density as well as long operational lifetime. We have fabricated white emitting tandem structures with two or three low-voltage white-emitting stacks using transparent organic "PN"-type connectors. Three- stack white tandem structures with efficiency greater than 24 cd/A at D65 and operational stability of about 110,000 h. (extrapolated) at $1000\;cd/m^2$ have been demonstrated. With a stacked structure, the power consumption for displays using an RGBW format can be reduced by 25% compared to previously described formulations. We have also fabricated advanced white tandem structures where the color gamut (NTSC x,y ratio) has been improved to greater than 70% using standard color filters. The white OLEDs can also be used to increase the colorrendering index CRI (>80%), an important consideration for solid-state lighting.

High Performance 2.2 inch Full-Color AMOLED Display for Mobile Phone

  • We developed a high performance 2.2" active matrix OLED display for IMT-2000 mobile phone. Scan and Data driver circuits were integrated on the glass substrate, using low temperature poly-Si(LTPS) TFT CMOS technology. High efficiency EL materials were employed to the panel for low power consumption. Peak luminescence of the panel was higher than 250cd/$m^2$ with power consumption of 200mW.
