시스템엔지니어링 개념 교육 모델 연구 (Study on Lecture Model for Systems Engineering Concept)

  • About 20 years have passed since Systems Engineering(SE) was introduced in Korea. KCOSE(Korean Council On Systems Engineering) and KOSSE(The Korean Society of Systems Engineering) were established during that period and Korean SE community has increased quantitatively. But We can not answer "Yes!" for the questions "Did Korean SE community increase qualitatively? and How about SE education or training?" Many participants at SE lecture classes said that they were not able to understand SE concept. I analyzed current SE lecture materials and then proposed new model of SE concept lecture for SE novices. The new model consists of Vee diagram, life cycle model, PMTE paradigm, technical review, SE sample and definition of SE. I expect that the proposed model will contribute to upgrade a quality of domestic SE education.

  • This paper describes the application method of systems engineering for systems of systems and addressed the evolution in approach as organizations have evolved from standalone platform providers to architect of SoS. There is an increasing need to perform Systems of Systems Engineering(SoSE) in a global environment This has stimulated the development of new, innovative SoSE approaches that surpass current military and industry state-of-the-art systems engineering processes. The simple scaling of the former process was ineffective in dealing with global distributed large-scale integration efforts of network-centric systems of systems. A new SoSE process has been developed which is a significant breakthrough in the development of large complex systems and net-centric systems of systems. The SoSE process provides a complete, detailed and systematic development approach for military and civil SoS. In this point of view, this paper analyzes functionally the architecture framework, process and integrated verification & validation of SoSE. From results of this analysis, perspectives on the application of SoSE suitable for Korea aquisition environment are presented.

SE프로세스를 통한 객체지향 실시간시스템 개발 방법론의 개선에 관한 연구 (On Improving the Object-Oriented Method for Real-Time System by Applying the SE Process)

  • In modern systems technology, increasingly more systems are anticipated to operate in real-time environment. These systems are usually complex to implement since it is not easy to satisfy the real-time requirement for both hardware and software components simultaneously. In this paper, we first review an object-oriented development process that was proposed earlier for software-intensive real-time system using the Unified Modeling Language (UML). We then study how to improve the problems that the UML approach might have. Applying the systems engineering(SE) process yields useful results which include : 1) an improved requirements management over the whole system life-cycle ; 2) a detailed scenario on how to carry out the SE process ; and 3) a conversion process from the text-based requirements to the UML-based graphic ones.

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a prominent topic in almost every field. In Korea, Systems Engineering (SE) procedures are applied in Defense Acquisition, and it is anticipated that SE procedures will also be applied to systems incorporating AI capabilities. This study explores the applicability of the concepts "AI4SE (AI for SE)" and "SE4AI (SE for AI)," which have been proposed in the United States, to the Korean context. The research examines the feasibility of applying these concepts, identifies necessary tasks, and proposes implementation strategies. For the AI4SE, many attempts and studies applying AI to SE Processes both Requirements & Architectures Define, System implementation & V&V, and Sustainment. It needs Explainability and Security. For the SE4AI, the Functional AI implementation level, Quality & Security of the Data-set, AI Ethics, and Review policies are needed. Furthermore, it provides perspectives on how these two concepts should ultimately converge and suggests future directions for development.

  • After attending the special lecture by Halligan on "The Principles of Systems Engineering" at the 2002 KCOSE workshop, the author tried to collect similar SE principles scanning throughout several SE text books and internet sources. During this process it is found that INCOSE once established a SE-Principles WG and tried to collect SE-principles. They tried to make distinctions among pragmatic, mathematical, and philosophical principles. The result of this effort to collect various SE-principles showed that, including the INCOSE SE-principles WG, most authors seem only succeeded in generating the pragmatic SE-principles but failed in both mathematical and philosophical SE-principles.

  • 시스템의 규모와 요구기능은 점점 대형화되고 복잡해지고 있다. 이러한 시스템 개발 프로젝트의 성공적인 수행을 위해서는 프로세스에 따른 체계적인 시스템공학(SE)과 프로젝트관리(PM) 활동이 요구되고 있다. 시스템 개발 조직에서는 SE&PM 프로세스 개선 및 능력평가 모델인 CMMI를 채택하여 SE&PM 능력 확보에 노력하고 있으며, 이를 위해 조직의 비즈니스 특성에 맞는 조직 표준 프로세스를 구축하여 적용하고 있다. 하지만 시스템 개발조직 현장에서는 CMMI 프로세스영역 간 상호연관성에 대한 충분한 이해부족으로 조직 프로세스 구축에 어려움이 따르고 있다. 또한 SE와 PM활동은 시스템 개발에 있어서 상호 밀접하게 연관되어 있기 때문에 SE와 PM 프로세스는 상호 통합 및 연계성이 확보되어야만 효과적이고 효율적인 프로젝트 수행이 될 것이다. 본 논문에서는 시스템 개발 조직에서 CMMI 기반 조직 프로세스 구축에 참조되고 활용될 수 있는 조직의 SE&PM 통합 프로세스 아키텍처를 제시한다.

  • 본 논문은 SE & SW Infra를 활용한 실용적인 시스템엔지니어링관리계획서(SEMP) 템플릿 개발에 관한 연구이다. SEMP는 시스템엔지니어링 업무활동 관리를 위한 최상위 수준의 계획서로서 경량전철 사업 수행 시 국내 실정에 맞도록 개발 하였다. 경량전철사업 수행 시 생성 되는 SEMP를 효과적이고 효율적으로 관리 및 개발하기 위하여 SE & SW 연계 Infra를 구축하였다. 본 논문을 통해서 전산기반의 SE & SW Infra 도구간 통합하는 것을 사례로 제시함으로써 향후 인력, 비용, 일정을 줄일 수 있을 것이다.

경량전철 사업의 SE 적용을 위한 비용 추정 모델 연구 (A Study on the Cost Model for Implementation of SE for the Light Rail Transit Project)

  • This research aims to propose a model to estimate the appropriate SE Cost rate to the total project cost when systems engineering applied to light rail transit project. In this research an investment cost estimation model is proposed with reference to COSYSMO (Constructive System Engineering Cost Model). This model includes four input factors such as requirement numbers, interface numbers, algorithm numbers, and scenario numbers. When 2600 requirement numbers are considered on a proposal document with 350 pages in a light rail transit specification of 500 billion~trillion won scale, COSYSMO demo version estimates 42.5 billion won of SE cost (about 5% of total project cost or about 10% of E&M cost).

  • Recently, the use of domestic products securing domestic technology is encouraged, because of export restrictions of the countries or DMSMS(diminishing manufacturing sources and shortages). Domestic weapon systems are actively focused on the parts localization process of R&D projects based on Systems Engineering. However, it is the only way to do technical review for Systems Engineering process up to now. There is a case of application in Localization with Systems Engineering process, but the SE activity is not enough. This study is how to apply Systems Engineering process to Localization effectively based on real cases.

  • This paper introduces the concept and market status of PLM, then analyses PLM with an SEview I focus on relations beween SE and PLM. I propose some research topics about integration of SE and PLM and I expect growth of PLM market be a good chance of SE territorial expansion and marketing.
